Anyone heard of methadone clinics "watering down" the methadose? There have been people at my clinic complaining of getting sick in the evening all of a sudden.

What's more likely is staff is probably watering it down, especially if it is the clear methadone (generic), that is almost impossible to identify. The states that license methadone clinics need to put stricter regulations in place, like cameras on all staff, from the time it reaches the clinics until the time it is served. I know about this because I have personally been on methadone, and methadone for many years, and I am going through a problem with the methadone at my clinic now.

I went to a methadone clinic in 2011 in Ga. They gave u a sealed bottle w ur dose # on it. I am now at a clinic in Fl and they use the calibrated machine. In Ga I MAXED out at 55 mg. I almost had to go back down to 50 due to nodding. I am at 100 mg at the Fl location. They dispense it out of a machine and I am sick by 6-7 pm. 55 mg used to last till my next dose. I never got sick. I don't want to be on such a high dose due to the weight gain and i know it will be so much harder to come off of. Plus I am wasting my money. I get the chills and hot flashes and sweats by 6-7 every night. There is definitely something shady going on. I don't know who to talk to. When I tell my counselor or the nurses that I am getting sick even on such a high dose it's always u need to go up on ur dose. This is b.s.!!!!! Sometimes the taste is not as strong, the color is lighter and it just feels different. I want unopened, sealed bottles like the Ga clinic gave. I am not a dope head looking for a high. I want to GO DOWN ON MY DOSE!!!!! I am disabled w a severe back injury and this crap is not even touching the pain. When I was on 50 mg in Ga...I could run and play w my kids. I could do things that I hadn't been able to do in yrs because of the pain. I am not the only one complaining of this either. I don't know who to turn to. Thanks for reading. If u have any advice....Please....I am at a loss.

Are you kidding me? If a client wanted more they could get more in easier ways than to accuse the clinic employees of theft. And it wouldn't cost them a dime more. It might be cheap for the clinic to buy but for a nurse trying to supplement their income it's like liquid gold. If you are that trusting I have a bridge to sell you.

Sometimes a clinic will get a junkie nurse and he or she will take a certain amount of methadone out of the jug or bottle and replace it with the same amount of water to make it look like the methadone hadn't been touched. It happens more than you would think. We had a Pharmacist in Austin that was palming diskette and not putting them in the the cup. To make a long story short the next time I saw him he lost his pharmaceutical license and was driving a cab. It couldn't of happened to a better a**hole! So counselors when one of your clinics tells you something wrong with their dose don't always write them off as someone that's got a tolerance to methadone!

I know how you feel. I've been on methadone 38 years so I know a little about medicating nurses taking part of your daily does. If you can't get anywhere with telling your conselor my suggestion is to go to another clinic, because it's not going to stop.Or you could always have someone put the fear of God in the medicating nurse away from the clinic. I did that once and I started getting my full dose immediately from the same medicating nurse.

This is going on... Just got dosed & it was watered down & alot less. Been like this for awhile, feeling sick! Whether nurses dont know how to calibrate machines or stealing it to sell since a bottle of meth on street is more than a nurse makes in a year, too much temptationin regards to $. I must do something, say something, going to speak with director. No reason for me to be detoxed everyday feeling like s***. Amazing this goes on.

I have noticed descrepancies in my doses as well and hear a few ppl complaining of the same while in line. It would be so easy to water down those big bottles and just pop it in the machine but the other nurses would have to be in on it because of how my clinic is set up. Its private on the patient side, but It's wide open on their side. Some days I feel so sluggish and just blah. Most days I'm inbetween. Not feeling good or even half normal, but not detoxing either. Usually once or twice a month I will have a few days clustered together where I feel great. Not high or anything but feel motivated with no cravings etc. like I would imagine I should feel while on it. There are a couple days out of the month that I will actually nod off. Idk it's weird but I thought I would be consistent for the most part. I never know what I'll feel like day to day.

I went through that twice already. I am waiting now on the Dr to raise my dose, it was only two weeks ago that my dose went from 100 to 110. For some you have to go up when it doesn't hold you.... And for some it only takes a couple weeks to need to go up. I sure hope that this dose does it..... This is a miserable way to live.....

Yes!!.... I live in Florida and my clinic had changed their method of despencing methadone. Now they have changed over to the electric pump that measures out your side for you. Now ever since they began this the clients that receive take-homes are complaining about how one bottle will be measured out at the right mgs but most of them are 5-10 mgs under there dose level!!... Also... Every single person including myself have noticed my methadone is dark red and very strong and remains stable all day and night. The next day the methadone is extremely light pink and there is less liquid in the cup. I've been on 180mgs of methadone for 12 years and never had a problem with my methadone until our clinic switched over to these new electric pumps!!... My 180mgs lasts 5-7 hours and that's the end of that till the next morning. So there is my story here in Orlando, Florida. Thanks.

I have been at a met clinic for many years and I can't tell you how many LPN's CNA's and one administrator that was in cahoots with one of the LPN's and was set up and busted red handed with the 40mg disk's. No charges, they just fired them. Now they have stopped dispensing the methadone disk's altogether and just have the red liquid now. The liquid is being diverted "stolen" when the big bottle comes out of the safe. They pour a quarter of the bottle out and replace with water. Nevertheless, it is what it is and has gone on ever since there have been clinics and will continue as long as there are clinics. Dr's in VA can only write 2 weeks worth of pain meds now because so many are dying from overdoses. If you are young and addicted to opiates please get off while you still have a chance to have a life. Don't go to a methadone clinic!! you will just get addicted to it and methadone is probably the worse drug there is to try to get off of. You will lose all your teeth. stay constipated, and crave sugar like it's going out of style. That's just a few things to think about. leave it to the Germans to come up with Methadone during WW2. Have a wonderful day, Jesus is the way!!

Actually, that just happened to me and a couple other patients. The thing is that I made a recording of their threats. ALSO, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! If you believe that your doses are being tampered with, this is what you need to do: First, if you know any other patients who have clean drug panels, see if any of them are having the same issue. I say do this first because they're less likely to try and intimidate or punish you if you have a group of people involved. Next check your states recording laws (in my state, you can record conversations without prior notice as long as you are party to the conversation, and as long as it is a face to face meeting). If legal then make sure to bring in something small to record your conversations. First, make a complaint with a clinics director, but be careful as they will most likely try to blame you and threaten to punish you in some way. If the problem is persisting and they seem reluctant to talk about it (in my case I have been going through withdrawals for the past 3 weeks and they have also given us inconsistent answers when questioned) request that they take a peak and trough examination as this will rule out any metabolism problems or anything health wise. If after this it still persists then there is only one last thing to do, and that is to call your local DEA agency and explain the situation to them. IT IS YOUR RIGHT TO CONTACT THE DEA IF YOU SUSPECT THAT SOMETHING IS GOING ON. DO NOT LET THEM INTIMIDATE YOU AND DO NOT LET THEM TELL YOU OTHERWISE. The DEA will shut the clinic down temporally so that they can do whatever they need to satisfy their suspicion. Make sure that you have a second clinic as an option because if they are tampering with the methadone, then it will be a while before they open it back up. Also, remember that choosing a different clinic is another last resort option, and I am planning on doing that while they DEA sorts the other clinic out.

Re: Verwon (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

I am going through this now. I am at a clinic where they give liquid methadose. Depending on the window I would go to I would get sick sooner. At first I thought the same thing that I was immune to my dose but I paid closer attention. I was always going to the same window and getting sick, then I changed windows and I was fine. Hmmm. My guy goes to the same clinic. He is on a lower dose but some days his take home bottle has way more than mine. Then I saw them change a bottle and watched them pour water into the big bottle of methadose, then hook up to a computer after they took a big cup full out! I tried to say something to my counselor in concern and she talked me in circles with no real answers! Does anyone know if I can get my take home dose tested somewhere to make sure my dose is right, because this is an on going problem of me getting sick one day then fine the next. I am not the only one who has noticed this. Not to mention I have had to go from 60 mg at my last clinic to changing to this clinic because it's free and I'm on 120 mg and still get sick!!! Wtf! Seriously, something is going on, how do I get them checked out???

Verwon, I wish you could've been with me the last 40 years on methadone. Because you would quit defending the clinics and start believing these people when they tell you they've had their doses taken by medicating nurses by adding water in the place of methadone. The only way to stop medicating nurses from taking it is camera's watching them and observed random UA's.

A counselor stole some methadone and went home and OD'ed. So I know what you're going through.

Re: Jewels (# 7) Expand Referenced Message

This is going on BAD AT THE SOUTHERN INDIANA COMPREHENSIVE TREATMENT CENTER. The liquid gets weaker as the month goes on and I couldn't figure out why until I started noticing delivery dates when the Methodone liquid first gets delivered we ALL notice it's strong I fall asleep for a week straight then the next week on the same dose I'm withdrawing. Numerous patients swear the nurses are stealing our dose and then diluting the huge bottle of methodone to replace the liquid. It's then put in a machine which IS CALIBRATED DAILY and once your diluted dose is dispensed they then pour water in the solo cups the use for medicine cups. The patients can't see measurements of liquid but IT'S USALLY THE CORRECT LIQUID AMOUNT IT JUST BEEN DILUTED IN THE BOTTLE BEFORE DISPENSED TO PATIENTS AT WHICH TIME IT'S THEN DILUTED WIT WATER AS PART OF THe normal perocess. I'm an ADDICT I KNOW WHAT HIGH LOOKS LIKE AND OUR NURSES ARE HIGH. THEY ALSO HAVE WHAT'S IS ODD BUT 25 OR 20 MINUTES GAPS FROM ON PATIENT TO THE NEXT BEFORE THEY TURN ON A LIGHT FOR NEXT PERSON I HAVE OPENED THE DOOR AND SEEN THEM PULLING THE BOTTLES OF METHADONE OUT OF THE MECHINE AND THEN PUTTING THE SAME ONE BACK I AM CERTAIN JUST BY THE WAY I'M FALLING ASLEEP ONE WEEK N WITHDRAWAL THE NEXT EVEN THOUGH THE DOSE IS SUPPOSED TO BE IDENTICAL THE AMOUNT OF LIQUID IS THE SAME BUT IT WENT FROM CONCENTRATED TO DILUTED THEN DISPENSED N DILUTED AGAIN. I reported this to the supervisor as have many many patients yet nothing is done to verify nor discredit our suspicions THE SUPERVISOR AT SICTC ACTS LIKE WE ARE ALL CRIMINALS COURT ORDERED TO BE THERE AND SHE'S DOING US A FAVOR PERMITTING US TO STAND IN HOUR LONG LINES DAILY N HAVE OUR MONEY TAKEN AND MESS STOLEN ALL THE WHILE YELLING AT US AS IF WE ARE CHILDREN IT'S DIRTY IN THERE NO SOAP OR PAPER TOWELS IN THE RESTROOM EVER FOR IDK WHAT REASON BUT IT'S NOT JUST OUT THE JUST DON'T PUT IT THERE NO CHAIRS U STAND IN A LINE LIKE A HEARD OF ANIMALS FOR WHAT IS NORMALLY AN HOUR TO DOSE EACH DAY AND IF YOU HAVE COMPLAINTS OR CONCERNS THEY DO NOT CARE. BUT THIS SCREWING WITH THE POTENCY OF THE LIQUID CAN COST LIVES WHEN SOMEONE RELAPSES AND OVERDOSES BECAUSE THEY AREN'T STABLE BECAUSE THE NURSES ARE GETTING HIGH ON HALF OUR DOSE

Re: ACF (# 19) Expand Referenced Message

I am and have been having the same problem for 9 years at my clinic but I do not notice daily inconsistencies cause unless the bottle runs out during my weekly fill session it all comes from the same bottle. So I get a whole weeks worth of watered down worthless crap. The reason I am on phase 5 instead of 6 is the implemented mandatory monthly call backs for phase 6 patients which is bulls***. So instead of taking a chance of missing a call back every month I chose to go down to phase 5 which is once a week instead of 6 which is every 2 weeks. Anyway, back to the problem at hand. What I do notice is it only seems to happen at the middle window number 2 cause we have 3 windows. It used to be window 3 but now it seems to be window 2 that is the worst, which is where the camera faces the dispenser, but all someone would have to do is stand in front of it while they do it to block the camera with their back. The head nurse art has a wife who suffers from M.S. Or multiple sclerosis and I know that is why he does it and he is the only staff member that has access to the dispensary and has worked at the clinic the entire time it has been happening, except for the clinic director, but I don't think she is tall enough to block the camera, but art is. Anyway, I am really getting sick of it cause when I get a whole weeks worth of crap my entire week is no good and I feel like s*** everyday. I have complained time and time again. The funny thing is every time I did complain to art in the beginning it would stop for a couple weeks, which just furthered my suspicions. I wish I could plant a hidden wireless camera by the dispenser or hack the cctv cameras or something. I just want it to stop. I will try notifying the corporate office again and then just try to avoid window 2 at all costs. Anyway, hope this helps someone else some how, but I doubt it will. It just sucks bottom line. Oh my clinic is in Appleton WI.
