Anyone Heard Of Methadone Clinics Watering Down Methadose? (Page 4) (Top voted first)
UpdatedAnyone heard of methadone clinics "watering down" the methadose? There have been people at my clinic complaining of getting sick in the evening all of a sudden.
Same thing is happening at my clinic. Who do you report the suspicion of medication tampering to?... There has to be someone who is watching what there doing and checking and testing all of there stock??!!.. I just need the name of who to report it to. Thnks
Some people say water don't lessen the strength methadone I say it does.
I've been at the same clinic for 9 months and have had weekend take home for about 6 months now. I just noticed today while the nurse was filling my little take home bottles (this clinic uses the little clear bottles and clear methadone and is dispensed from a little tube) that the bottles had a little bit of clear liquid already in the bottles before the medicine was dispensed. I've never noticed this before and I didn't say anything or ask her anything so as to not call her out in fear of some kind of retaliation or something. Has anyone else ever seen this happen before? She has a little box kind of to the side and out of view from the window. You can see it from our side of the window if you really look but this little box had all the empty bottles that she uses to put the take homes in and every one of those little bottles had a little liquid in them already. Next week I will go to the other window (there are 2) with the other nurse and pay attention to see if she does the same thing. I had a cousin who went to the same clinic and he used to say quite often that he thinks they are watering down their medicine. He ended up getting locked up in the middle of his methadone treatments. He had been getting medicated for months before he was locked up and said he experienced no withdrawal symptoms for the entire 4 and a half weeks he was in jail aside from some minor aches in his legs for the first couple of days but nothing unbearable. That's kind of unusual if you ask me. For a while a couple months back, some nights I would experience minor withdrawal symptoms real late at night like restless legs and other nights I would be fine. I have been on 70 mg. since a week after I started the program.
How are you going to judge ANYONE, when YOU are just the same as the rest of these so-called "addicts" (that just was want more meds)? Hate to say it and God forgive me for being judgmental, myself. But we should all never forget where we came from.
Wow! That is nuts! They are not supposed to add water to your take-homes and they are supposed to be sealed as well. At least that is how the clinic I used to go to did theirs. I recently just transferred to another clinic and believe they tamper with the methadone because 2 days after I transferred I began to get SICK for the first time of being on the same dose in four months!
My girlfriend and I go to the same clinic and we are going through this right now as we speak. I feel like I'm in daily withdrawal as of the last 2 weeks. And I've been in this clinic for 4-5 years. How am I gonna feel good one day and the next day when I take my dose feel like crap? That makes no sense, there's obviously something going on. I don't wanna raise my dose and have been on the same dose for over 3 years. But if I feel sick 4 hours after taking my dose what's the point on going to a clinic? I go there to stay off drugs not to get my dose tampered with and feel sick half of the day and have to feel like buying extra or even relapsing again, which is the last thing I wanna do. People always think everyone's situation is the same, it's not. What works for you might not work for others Sherlock. It all depends on the clinic you go to and eachother's bodies and dose that your on all goes into consideration including the length of time you've been on the same dose. Pain medication is all the same, after so much time your on something your dose will not have the same effect as it once did at after a certain time. Tomorrow I will tell my counselor to either correct my dose so I am not sick daily or I'm going to a different clinic period. I don't come to a clinic to feel sick and wanna relapse, cos then what's the point? I pay for my dose so I expect for it to work for me like it's suppose to and me not feel withdrawal symptoms. Maybe some people wanna go up just to feel high or nod off but I just wanna feel stable all day like I once was and that is all. F*** the rest! By the way this clinic is called Codac in Providence, RI ...I'm putting it out there so others are aware this does happen there, so be aware. But most important of all stay clean.
Your 100% correct.they are not to add water to your take homes.by doing so there is no way to tell if you have the correct amounts if you get a call back to bring your mess to be checked.
Any suspicion of tampering of food or medicine goes to the food and drug administration (FDA).
The machine has a tube that runs to the bottle. Its sucks it up, measures it, then dispenses.
Re: Jeff C. (# 8)
So okay Jeff so sorry you are one of us lowlifes, WTF. I am highly educated and have a good job and have take homes just like you, and I know for a fact that one of the nurses were underdosing me. I spoke to the Dr and my counselor and I now only get doses by the Dr or my counselor and have not been sick since. If you are so superior to the rest of us then go cold turkey. And I can say this because I am a "fiend" just like you.
Yeah I would like to know how you can tell or how you can find out if they are stealing the methadone because the scene is going on in my clinic I don't want to name the name of the clinic but it's in Pennsylvania Montgomery County there's three different nurses that work throughout the week and when certain nurses work I feel my methadone on Sundays when certain nurses work I don't feel it on others whereas some days the methadone seems like it's water down a little bit and some days seems like it's stronger who do I contact for how do I find out who's anyone know
All the time! I've had so many nurses or pharmacist steal my dose. The first time I was ever on methadone the pharmacist was ripping my dose off so bad I finally got tired of being sick that I jumped off methadone.
If you aren't taking drugs with your methadone or drinking extra methadone and you're feeling sick, someone is taking some of your dose!
It happens all the time. I've driven myself crazy trying to get those lazy chicken s*** counselors to do something about it.
Sounds like you might have an addicted medicating nurse if that many patients are complaining of being sick. We had a medicating nurse at the city methadone clinic in Austin back in the 80s. I would be on 80 mg diskettes and he'd take one 40mg diskette from me on and on until I got ahold of him outside and told him I'm going to MHR and testifying against him if he didn't stop. He was a pharmacist that was taking clients doses and trading it for coke. He finally got busted and the next time I saw him he was driving a cab.
Re: Amanda (# 63)
They use a tamper proof seal on the bottle and can tell if you've gotten into it.
Re: dee (# 14)
Which clinic in Texas did u go to? I go to a methadone clinic and they do the same thing.
I have this same problem. Certain days with certain nurses it taste like water and methadone is lighter, like its diluted. Those days I get really sick way before morning. Other days I feel okay. This makes me think these nurses are diluting the methadone as the symptoms I get agree too. I have also witnessed the same nurse pouring out some of the premises methadone in a big cup And then putting water back in the methadone bottle before hooking up to the computer for dosing. This didn't seem right. And she jumped and acted nervous when she caught me staring at her. I said something to my counselor and nothing done, she still here and I am always sick on those days which makes me keep going up on my dose. Then when the honest nurses work, I am drunk because I get the right dose. This is dangerous. Who can check on this? Who do i report it to? I am starting to hear others complain on getting sick too. They should not be able to dilute liquid methadone with water, please help!
Re: Cats68 (# 10)
That's crazy, why would adding water deter someone from administering it intravenously? Makes no sense. If someone wants to abuse a substance, nothing will stop them. If people are addicts and go to a clinic, obviously they want help.
I've never heard of Methadone clinics watering down methadone. But I know for a fact corrupt nurses or medicating personal have taken diskettes and watered down your does to make it look like you got your dose.
Re: Kristine (# 3)
Hello - if you are truly on methadone because your opiate dose was not working and you did not want to keep increasing, then you SHOULD NOT BE GOING TO A METHADONE CLINIC. Your Doctor can prescribe Methadone for you to pick up at the pharmacy and take yourself at home just like every other prescription . The law states very clearly Methadone can be prescribed for pain by any doctor, but for addiction (and ONLY addiction) tx it must be dispensed through a clinic. Clinics are only for patients that are addicts. There is a difference (BIG) between a physical dependence and an addiction. I am not sure where you live, but Google the topic of methadone rx prescribing laws specific to your state, print it out and bring it to your family or pain doctors office (the jackass that sent you off to the clinic instead of sending you home with a script). If he wont do it ask for a referral to another doctor because you have every right to NOT have to go through all the BS a clinic puts you through. Good Luck.
Someone forgot where they came from.. smdh...how dare you say that. Just because you did that doesn't mean that is what everyone else is doing. I'm sure you're the one who is still getting high because you would have to be HIGH to say that
