I have not drank any alcohol in the past two days and just wanted to ask Thank you - Paige ## Yes, it may cause sleep issues as a side effect, according to the FDA, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and weight changes. What has your doctor advised? Are you on any other medications? Why did you stop taking it?
Started bupropion 3 days ago and wondering why I am hyper and smoking twice as much? How long before I have less urge to stop smoking? ## Hello, Etta! How are you? This medication can cause some people to feel hyper, anxious, and nervous, according to the FDA. When I tried it, years ago, it made me feel like I drank several pots of coffee and I had to stop taking it, never did anything to change my smoking habits. In most cases, side effects are transient, and will improve once your body gets used to a medication, but that may take 4 to 5 weeks. If they worsen, or if they don't improve, you may need to try a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with?

Any info on side effects for a younger person (age 12) who was just prescribed Prozac for depression, after a depression diagnosis and attempted suicide? ## Hello, Diana! How are you? While the side effects would be the same at that age, as they would be for an adult taking it, they may be slightly more intense. The FDA lists them as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, trouble sleeping, vivid dreaming, weight loss and dry mouth. I am on it for perimenopause symptoms and I've found that generally, the side effects intensify for a few days around week 3, then suddenly improve and go away, after that. How is the child doing on it? ## Has been a week today and so far no symptoms other than lesser appetite after taking meds in the am. Seems to help with anxiety yet still seei...

How are you? What changed over the holiday? Did you miss days of taking it? Did your diet change significantly? Did you spend a lot of time in the sun? Did you drink alcoholic beverages? Is there a chance that you're just ill? Maybe the flu, or a virus? Are you on any other medications? The NIH lists these as all being possible causes, that could make you feel ill, or affect the medication and its side effects.
I am on 200 a day an I've stoped taking them as I worked so hard to loose 62kg an I was told this drug wouldn't make me gain weight. I am on day 4 without them an I am seriously dizzy an I am wanting to know how much longer till the drug is out of my system? ## Pristiq contains the active ingredient Desvenlafaxine, it is an SNRI antidepressant. The withdrawal effects, if you were taking them for a long period of time, especially at such a high dosage, can take about a month to completely wear off. Though, they will gradually improve and not be so severe, as your body adjusts to no longer having the medication. You should also be careful to watch for rebound depression and anxiety symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What is prestiqe, and is it make bad side effec...
My mother-in-law has dementia and has been prescribed Brintellix as one of her meds. Can this help with the dementia / alzheimers? Thank you, Pam ## Hi Pam, Sorry to hear about your mother in law. Trintellix (formerly called Brintellix, active ingredient Vortioxetine)[1] is indicated for major depressive disorder, although there have been studies conducted which indicate that it may also treat cognitive dysfunction in those patients too [2]. May I ask what other meds she has been prescribed? I wonder if this is part of her treatment because of its effects as an antidepressant / cognitive treatment? Ref: [1] [2]
Another problem with generic not feeling my normal self as with Watson mfg. After two weeks I'm irritable moody cry easily and problems sleeping...don't dare to be sociable. Same problems as the generic Sunco... Why aren't these regulated better? This is my life. ## Hello, Laura! How are you? Under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, generics are allowed to differ from the name brand, in the amount of the active ingredient, by as much as plus or minus 20%. However, they do not have to measure against each other, only against the name brand. This was done to help bring generics to market faster, in hopes of keeping prices lower. The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window and, for most people, it doesn't cause a problem. But some people are sensitive to medications ...

It's not that they can't be combined, but it must be done very carefully, with the doses taken under careful consideration and the patient being regularly monitored. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Mirtazapine as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. Are you seei...
My fiance was recently taking Pristiq for about a year. He recently was changed over to Brintellix. He sees that it works extremely well during the day, and really helps. As the night gets later we have noticed it wearing off so to speak, mind begins to race, anger becomes an issue, not able to sleep, etc..... What would be the best thing for us to do about making it last longer through the day??? ## Hello, Amber! How is your fiancé doing? What dosage is he taking? It could be that he needs a dosage adjustment, or it may not be the right medication to help him. Has he informed his doctor? There really isn't anything that either of you can do that make it last longer. The FDA lists its typical side effects as including nausea, dizziness, vomiting and vision changes. ## I take br...
I know this might sound strange but did anyone experience that their cough was reduced after taking prozac? I have had a cough since march (dr. said acid reflux and quitting smoking) but since on the prozac it has not been as frequent. Is this a possible side effect? ## No, that is not typical, the FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. It is probably more likely just things slowly improving, overall, that typically occurs as time passes, the quit smoking cough usually improves very gradually. Are you on any other medications?

There is no specific time of day that it needs to be taken, you can do so whenever it is convenient for you, just remember to be consistent. I'm currently weening off of Zoloft while taking Celexa as my doctors new choice of an OCD/anti anxiety med because the Zoloft on 100mg was making my anxiety worse. I'm also on 100mg of Trazadone nightly for sleep. Two weeks ago I was put on Sulfamethazole/Trip something or other to clear an infection caused by an ingrown hair. I was given a typical urine drug test and came up positive for benzodiazopines. I've taken no other drugs or supplements and I need to know if any combination of these drugs that I'm taking caused the false positive for my drug screen. ## Zoloft can cause a false positive for benzodiazepines.
I was perscribed Effexor yesterday to treat postpartum depression and anxiety that I have been going through since I delivered my baby boy.
