I've been on 25 mg of imipramine for 30 years. I've been withdrawing for almost 2 months by 10% per weeek. I had taken the 2% dose for 2 nights. On 3rd night woke up burning all over especially in back of head and gripped by extreme anxiety. Decided to go back up to 5% for a little bit. Still had symptoms; went to full strength again; still same symptoms about 3 to 5 hours after taking drug. These symptoms don't seem like withdrawal symptoms--brain zaps, emotionally unstable--that I'd been experiencing on withdrawal. I would appreciate any information or help. ## Based on my research you may not have been experiencing withdrawal symptoms all along, but more over, general side effects of Imipramine. I'm finding that much of the symptoms you mentioned are listed as sid...

I am a diabetic, and my Dr. prescribed mirtazapine for insomnia. I'm worried about high blood sugar and weight gain. I haven't had much luck with all the meds they've had me try, and I don't need any more issues to deal with, especially trying to get off of something that isn't working. Too scared to try it. ## Hi! I completely understand what you're talking about, I've been there myself. I have weird reactions and am very sensitive to most medications and sometimes it's a real roller coaster ride to find something that works, without making me completely miserable. And I was actually just responding to a post from someone else that is having a problem with insomnia and I'd like to ask you the same question I asked them: What tests have been done to d...

I've been on viibryd for over a year and I'm still depressed. I get up, go to work, come home and go back to sleep. I don't want to go anywhere or do anything. I was on prestiq for about 4-5 yrs and I was about the same. Does anybody know if there is another anti depressant I can take along with viibryd or something else I can take that will make me feel any better? ## Hi, Bo! I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having. And yes, there are many others that you can try, either in combination with it or by themselves. Have you talked to your doctor about the problem? Pristiq is a SNRI class antidepressant and Viibryd is an serotonergic class antidepressant, so it may be that you require a tricyclic or a tetracyclic, there are also SARIs and SSRIs. There are se...

Is anyone else pregnant and taking Vii? I have the episodes of sleep paralysis, hallucinations etc. IS THIS EFFECTING MY BABY? My OB said he loves Vii and his patients like it HOGWASH!!!!!!!!!! I start a new OB next week I am curious what she thinks?!?!?! Any comments are more than welcome! Aksonflower ## Hi, Aksonflower! I understand your concern and it may be well founded, under the drug category listing, it's a pregnancy category C, which means that animal studies have shown evidence of fetal risk. No controlled studies have been done in humans, of course, since that would be unethical, but it is suggested that you should make sure that the benefits outweigh the risks, before using it in a pregnant woman. And if I'd been on any type of medication back when I had my son, thoug...

Why do Pristiq only come in 100 or 50 mg tablets. I have to take 150mg daily and i am therefore having to pay for both scripts each month which is rather costly. ## Studies have shown that even though it is safe to take pristiq in doses greater than 100 mg it has shown no increased effectiveness. Therefore 150 mg is not a sensible dosage. Speak to your doctor. ## Hi, Jasmine! I am sorry about the issue you're having, but Buttons is on the right track. Once a medication has been tested and the various efficacy levels of dosages have been proven or disproven, it is only manufactured in the approved dosages. Thus, if they found during testing that there was no benefit to a higher dose, or perhaps even dangers found to using it in higher amounts, then they will not manufacturer those do...

Can I Break A Citalopram Hbr 20 Mg Tablet In Half? ## I have been on Cit for about 6 years 10mg. the great news is it made me feel great took away all that angst and low mood. BUT I have gained about 2 stone and its made my IBS terrible. its wierd because i always saw Cit as a cure and would look for other reasons why i was getting bigger, having bad stomach. it was only when I started a serious diet and had lost nothing after 4 weeks (while my daughter on same diet lost ten pounds) that i started to research reasons. Theres no question its this horrible little drug and i am furious that my doctor never thought to see if Cit was a cause. over many many forums the same theme is coming thru, doctors fobbing off patients that Cit doesnt cause weight gain and there should be no withdrawal s...

I was diagnosed with postpartum depression associated with major depression. I was negative, nothing was funny anymore, I didn't enjoy my husband and my wonderful baby boy. I was negative the whole day. It felt as if I was not in control of my emotions. My GP put me on Cilift. After a month on the medication I could feel a definate change in my mood and behaviour. Thanks Cilift! ## Superb! So glad to hear that this medication is helping you! Please keep us updated. Cilift contains the active ingredient Citalopram, this is an SSRI antidepressant. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and weight gain. Read more: Do you have any questions? I've used Cilift for 3 months, and systematically stopped using it as advised. My question as follows. Can the discontinuing use of Cilift cause any change in your menstruation cycle? ## Hi, Johcha! In theory it shouldn't, since it just contains Citalopram, which is an SSRI class antidepressant, but in reality anything that stresses us and/or upsets our body's balance can upset our hormonal balance. I am not sure why you were advised to systematically stop using it, because if you've only been on it for 3 months, then you're really not even giving it any time to work and help you. It takes 4 to 6 weeks for it to reach its full level of efficacy in the body. Thus, if you're stopping it regularly, it's never getting there and you're basically starting over ...

I have been taking Lexapro for a month now and while my anxiety is less (but not totally gone ) I am suffering side effects like exhaustion, no energy and regular dizzy spells. My doctor has now increased my dosage from 10 mg to 20mg and I feel nervous that taking the increased dosage will increase the unwelcome side effects. Has anyone any experience with taking an increased dosage ## Hi, I'm sorry that you're having such problems. And yes, it can take 4 to 6 weeks for the side effects to taper off in severity, as your body adjusts to the medication and they will usually intensify whenever you raise the dosage. Why did your doctor increase the dosage already? You've really barely hit the point of it reaching its full level of effectiveness in the body to know how much it...

was told by my pharmacist that Sandoz is no longer manufacturing buproprion - I can find no information to substantiate this - anyone have any info? ## No, I can't find anything to substantiate that, either. Sometimes, for a pharmacy, making such a claim really means that they just haven't been able to obtain it, perhaps their current supplier stopped carrying it, or the price changed and they just no longer want to have to order it in. Unfortunately, while some are very helpful to their customers and will go out of their way to make sure to order in your preferred or needed medications, there is nothing that obligates them to do so. Im on day three of cipralex and I feel so horrible. I have no energy, I feel like I have a bad flu and I woke up with extreme vertigo this morning. Anyone else experience this? ## Wow, Shawnie! I'm sorry, that's awful. Cipralex contains the active ingredient Excitalopram, which is an SSRI class antidepressant and it can cause symptoms such as this as side effects. If they get severe or don't abate in a few weeks, you'll need to contact your doctor, since it may not be the right medication for you to take. Learn more Cipralex details here. How are you feeling today? ## Still feel dizzy. I was prescribed it because of constant dizziness for over a month so my dr thinks its anxiety related. and told me to give it a try. Only I have all these side effects which the dr said s...

I take 20 mg of Coreg cr at bedtime and would like to take celexa 5 mg at night also to see if it makes a difference in the weight gain I am experiencing with the Celexa. ## Hi, Carla! Sorry about the problem you're having. However, I really don't think that taking it at night is going to change the side effects that the Celexa can cause. If they're happening, they're going to happen and SSRI antidepressants are very well known for causing weight gain. Once you take it and are on it for awhile, so it's reached its efficacy level in your body, changing the time of day you take it, isn't going to stop it from occurring. If it's really becoming a problem, then you'd be better served to speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. There are some ...

is the same as venlafaxine xr? thank you. ## Hi Urs! Yes, it is the same, both XR and ER are just abbreviations that denote its being a time released formulation of the medication. The pharmaceutical industry has really gotten carried away with these abbreviations, there are many that are used to mean the same thing, aside from the ER and XR, you may also see CR, SR, DR, CD, LA, XT and others. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello! I bought few weeks ago this tablets but I don't remeber for which exactly it is. Can you help me? ## I was unable to locate any medications by the name of Amtrika. Is it possible that you may have meant to say Amitriptyline (judging from the name)? Amitriptyline is used in the United States and United Kingdom to prevent migraines only in very small doses. It is also used as sleeping aids in small doses and for diabetic retinopathy. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Amitriptyline Details Just out of curiosity, how do you forget what medication you're taking? No pun intended. It is a serious question on my part. Did you simply buy the pills without any packaging or something?

Iv been on 25mg zoloft 6weeks and 50mg nearly 3wks when will it work fully ## If you've been taking this medication for 6 weeks now without noticing any benefits whatsoever, I would begin to think something was wrong. Not to sway you in the wrong direction, as I know some antidepressants can take up to a month or so to fully build up in your system, but even then you should feel some sort of changes in your overall mood... There's been a number of lawsuits against Zoloft in the past (I used to see them on TV all the time), so I do hope that you're responding to it well. has anyone made this change, what dosage of pristiq were u then given, and what was your experience? thanks for sharing. P.S. Got off of it for a while but had a panic attack so I was prescribed Pristiq. I lost 30 lbs in six weeks which was the ONLY positive. It made me space out and feel more depressed. I have been on this for 5 days. The last 3 days I have been having hot flushes and they have been getting more frequent. 8 in total today. I have never had these before and it's scary. I take it at 11 am. By about 10 pm I have a headache but no more flushes. I am going to call my doctor tomorrow morning before its time to take it. But I read 0.02% of people get this and also it is prescribed for the exact problem I have. Any suggestions. It starts with a really hot feeling in my sinuses and that lasts for about a minute. Then I get this slow cool feeling under my skin that travels down my body. I go really pale and my body feels like it is melting with the amount of sweat coming off me. Cheers Meg ## Unfortunately, the very medications that treat certain symptoms in some people can ...
