A friend of mine had a bit of a fit a while back and ended up in hospital - she had apparently been taking alcohol on top of an antidepressant, which caused the fit we are told. She has now been put on the above medication and I am off to spend a week with her next week but a mutual friend of ours has emailed me asking to see what I think. Apparently she gets glassy eyed from time to time and the friends who see her every day say she appears to not really be "there". She is no longer taking alcohol, but takes the pills daily. Could this be a side effect of the Tripaline and if so, surely they need to find another alternative for the poor girl ? ## Hello, Baberton! How are you? How long has she been on this medication and what dosage does she take? Some side effects are normal an...

My celexa is 2 years past effective date. Is it still effective? ## Hello, Wida! How are you? Most likely not, it would be best to just dispose of it and see your physician for a new prescription. This is an SSRI antidepressant and side effects may include nausea, dizziness, weight changes and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No, but thank you for the information. I will ask my doctor for a new script.

Been on lex for 7 weeks and suddenly my anxiety became worse. I'm now upped to 20mg for the last 4 days. Is this normal or should I be feeling better by now? I did have a week before it got bad again where I was feeling pretty good. Any input would be appreciated! ## Hello, Lizzy! How are you feeling? It will still take about 3 weeks on the higher dosage, before you see an improvement and know if it's working. If it doesn't, or if the symptoms get worse, you may need to try a different medication. Normal side effects to this drug include nausea, dizziness, weight changes and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for your reply It's now been a few weeks later and I have increases to 30mg. I'm better but still feel the anxiety. I've only b...

I have been on mirtazapine at 15mg for two weeks, I feel like a walking zombie and my moods are vile! I am agitated and hot tapered with my husband and children making me a nightmare to live with. Today the doctor has prescribed me 30mg as I have always been on such a high dose of Citalopram before we tapered off, that she thinks my side effects may be because I need more antidepressant in the system but agreed it might be because they don't suit me but we won't know until we've tried them for 5-6weeks. My question is will I always be tired and zombie like?...and also will I always be hot tempered and agitated? Or will these symptoms wear off as at the moment I just feel like stopping the damn things! Would really appreciate the opinions of those who have experienced this dr...

fluoxetine hcl 10mg vs. fluoxetin(p) 10mg: are these the same medications / interchangeable? my pharmacy provided the second after a refill. please advise. ## Yes, they are both the same, just abbreviated differently, that's all. Fluoxetine is an SSRI antidepressant, which may cause side effects such as nausea, dizziness, weight loss and headache. Is there anything else I can help with?

I take 2 150 mg of effexor daily equaling 300 ,mg now I see the pills are 37.5 as intake 2 of this daily, does this equal to my 300 mg or ia this a pharmacy mistake!!!!???? ,help! As I just lost my twin sister died unexpectedly,as I'm now VERY DEVASTATED already.. ## Hello, Jeanene! How are you? No, that is nowhere near 300mgs, taking two of the 37.5mgs tablets would only mean you're getting 75mgs of the medication. However, it is very odd to be taking 300mgs of this, because the maximum is usually only 225mgs. Are you certain that you've been taking 300mgs?

Been on it for a year and ever since suffer constant dizziness. Thought it was allergies but nothing helps. Has anyone else dealt with this ? ## If it's still continuing after a year, it's most likely not going to change, you'll most likely just need to switch to a different medication. Have you tried any other antidepressants? There are many others available. Do you take it for depression, anxiety or something else? ## Was taking it for depression. I've cut it down to just 10mg a day. Dizziness is gone, but intense sadness and anxiety is through the roof.. getting ready to try something else.

hi i have been on Pristiq for three years as a result of suffering from major depressive episodes since I was a child (i am thirty six now) . After two months of one of the most severe episodes of major depression my helpful gp has advised me to try to get onto prozac to see if this helps with the situation ( suicidal thoughts, hitting rock bottom, barely able to function) I am day two of no Pristiq and half a tablet of prozac and I am dizziness, headaches and general lethagy, I also feel emotionally rock bottom but hey, that is nothing new! i am terrified of never feeling better and that my whole life is falling apart. I am so scared the rest of my life is going to be defined by this mental illness that has plauged me for so long. If anyone can shed so light on how to get through this ...

I was taking Adderal IR with good, but odd results. Crash worse on 10mg twice a day than on 15 or 20. No irritability at 10, but frustration at 15 and very irritable at 20. Doctor put me on Adderal XR. Benefits seem much less...even feeling depressed today (the Adderal has really kept anxiety and depression in check), but very irritable. I don't crash like IR (sometimes even getting sleepy at 5), but I don't have the drive to get things done either. And irritability is very noticeable, sometimes pretty bad. Two weeks now and if anything, getting worse. Anyone else have these experiences? ## Hello, James! How are you? It may take a month or so, for your body to get used to the medication, so some of the side effects wear off and it reaches its full therapeutic level in your body....

I have been researching about weaning off of this medicine for weeks. I am scared crapless. I see people having these horrible withdrawal side effects after being on it from either a month to up to a few years. I have been on this for over 6 years. I had absolutely no idea how bad it would be getting off of this until a few years ago. I was up to 200mg a day but have started weaning off. I am down to 100mg a day. I thought I would try and do every other day so I skipped Sunday and yesterday I was nauseated ALL day, dizzy, my mind was everywhere else. I want to cry but I can't. Kind of like the big "O". It just won't happen. SO I gave in and took it today too. I think I will wait til my next visit and see what he wants to do then. My advice to anyone would be stay away fr...

This is listed in the U.S. prescription drug databases as containing 150mgs of Bupropion. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes.

Psychiatrist wants me on levomilnacipan 40 mg for depression rheumatologist Wants me on Savilla 50mg both are insistant that I use the drug they prescribe. Can I take both? I know levomilnacipan is one part of the Savilla compound is there another part more for fibromalga? ## Hello, Lori! How are you? I'd suggest asking them what they feel the difference is, because from what I've found one is derived from the other, so they are very similar and treat the same things. They even risk the same side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache and weight changes. Is your psych only considering your depression? Perhaps one of them works better for both it and fibro.

my 18 year old son has been diagnosed with severe depression. His psychiatrist has him on 2 capsules daily of fluoxetine HCL 20 mg each along with 2 tablets daily of Budeprrion SR 150 mg each. To me, this seems like an awful lot of drugs for a young person to handle. They don't seem to be working. He's just lying around the house, not interested in joining in with family or friends and basically sleeps all day. I'm concerned that this is doing him more harm than good. Can this lead to an addiction to drugs? ## Your son is showing some of the classic symptoms of depression so it sounds like a great idea that he is taking antidepressants. He is taking 40 mg/day of Prozac and 300 mg/day of Wellbutrin. That is a pretty good combination IMO; and by no means is it a lot for severe...

Why is the government making it so hard on doctors that they are not able to prescribe pain medication to patients with documentation of their illnesses? There has always been and will always be people who abuse any thing and every thing. But when you have patients that need this medicine and the government threatens to take their licenses away if they prescribe to them, they are hurting these patients quality of life. I am positive that these same people will still be able to get their medicine if they need it. But now people who need it aren't being allowed to have it. I am one of them and I can't do hardly anything, including, walking, sleeping, sitting or handling my day to day needs because without my medication I am in such constant pain I am practically worthless. Not to ...

My Dr. had me on lexapro and trazodone for my mood disorder and anxiety/ panic attacks. They didn't help with my panic attacks at all. So the next time I saw him he prescribed me vistaril and buspar. I was having severe panic attacks at least 3 times a day...Anytime I have to go into public my symptoms start. I haven't seen a big difference yet, even though I take the vistaril 3 times a day and the buspar twice a day and once a day for the lexapro and trazodone...does anyone have experience with all 4 of these meds? If so how long before I start experiencing some noticed improvement with my panic attacks? ## I would not recommend taking Trazodone (or Nefazodone, it's cousin) if you have panic or anxiety. I've take both in the past and experience intermittent worsening of...

Can I just stop taking 150 mg xl wellbutrin, it is my second day off and I do t feel too bad. Are the withdrawal effects yet to come. My pharmacist told me to take one and then skip one and so on till I was finished, but I have read that is not a good idea. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ## My pdoc wanted to wean me off of 150 mg Wellbutrin XL completely. But she told me that taking it every other day would be too much of a jump. Instead, I should take 150 mg one day and 75 mg the next. However, brand Wellbutrin XL is not available in 75 mg dosage and you can't cut a 150 mg XL pill in half. She suggested that I try one of the generics which was available in 75 mg dosage. The only generic I was tolerant of was TEVA Budeprion XL. But the FDA pulled it from the market an...

Has anyone been given lexapro for a child under 12 years of age. The FDA has approved this drug for adults and children over 12 years of age. I would like some additional information from anyone who has had a child under the age of 12 use it. ## I've taken Lexapro since I was 4 years old. I've also known several people who have taken this medication and similiar antidepressants well under the age of 12. It depends on the patient's situation and what your doctor suggests is best. Most children under the age of 12 start off with a lower dosage. From ages 4-10 I took 10mg, but I was perscribed to 20mg. ## And even when it isn't approved in a certain age group, doctors are allowed to prescribe it according to their experience, but the dosage usually needs to be carefully adj...
