I have to take a urine drug test weekly and it gets sent off to a lab to be double checked. The last 3 weeks it says I failed for Gabapentin. I have not taken that kind of medicine my whole life. The only medication I am taking is Suboxone. Can someone please tell me why or how this is happening? ## I can tell you that some people that have been in jail have tested positive for cocaine while taking Gabapentin. They have actually stopped giving it to people in jail for this reason. I don't know the truth in this but I was told that Gabapentin pulls false positives constantly! Sometimes for benzos other times for cocaine. You tell me why? If there's a doctor out there please respond! Does neurontin show up in a icare drug test for/as coke (crack)? My friend needs to know if her husband is lying. ## Absolutely not. Gabapentin (neurontin) does not show up as anything in a drug test. If it had the chance to show up as anything, a benzo maybe but definitely not coke or crack. It is not considered a schedule c drug and so it is not tested for on drug screenings and will not give a false positive for anything else. ## Are you 100% sure about this some says it does????? ## It can be tested for. I have been taking 600 mg of Neurontin 4x a day for about 2 years and recentlty ran out of this medication due to excrutiating slow service from mandatory mail order RX company.... I was extremely agitated during this time (approx. 5 days), nervous, stressed out, etc. Has anyone else had these symptons as a result of sudden withdrawal from Neurontin? I can't understand why this happened, I felt so scared and lousy for that time. Is this a known reaction for this med? I haven't been able to find an answer. I've been taking clonazapam for 17 yrs now for my epilepsy! This last visit with my Neurologist went sour, due to the abuse of clonazapam he discontinued my medicine treating me as if I was nothing. Well I started seizing and went to get help in the er, the doctor said they don't prescribe this type of drug in the er. I'm in tears. I've threatened suicide and still received no help and that's when I thought my world was falling apart. I have never in my life abused this medication nor have they had any positive results of abusing this medication, I hate and I know its wrong to insinuate that someone is misusing a medication. Hi. Please help. Was only gabapentin 200mg at nighttime for just over a week. Side effects were awful. Really bad dizzy spaced out feeling. Heart racing. Couldn't hack it anymore so dropped down to 100mg for 2 nights then stopped. So total dose nor more than 2500mg in 12 days. Well I'm now day 19 post and everyday is like Groundhog Day. Dizzy and spaced out with a heavy feeling in the head. Can't drive, focus much or even read. Writing this is a chore! Some tachycardia and anxiety but would imagine this may be more to do with the frustration than anything else but who knows? Sleep is more or less ok. Drs have no idea, including pain specialists. I will be going back to work and will be testing for illegal drug use. I am on Neurontin due to a medical problem. My doctor told me if you're on suboxene or subutex it's not a good idea to mix it with gabapentin. Why is this because I was taking gabapentin for 15 years ## Hello, Tessa! How are you? Last June I started coming off Lamotrigine. I was on 125mg per day to stabilize my moods. I suffer from anxiety, depression, ocd, bpd, It did help at the start and pushed me to do things, but then it would wear off and I was told to keep increasing, but it started to affect my liver, my depression got worse, sweating, jewelry going black, and a few other things and I wanted to come off it. I slowly decreased it but as I was I started to get the shakes, upper torso and hands. The psychiatrist put me on Zyprexa to help with the withdrawals and also Benztropine for the shaking/tremours. I was having too many suicidal thoughts so I came off Zyprexa, but I still had the shakes. I found some of these in a baggie, are they used for recreation or do they have any kind of effect that would make someone take them that do not have the prescription ## Neurotion is not a recreactional drug. It is used primarily for Seizures but has alternate uses. It will not produce a high of any kind. ## Then I do not understand why would they be kept in a baggie next to other stuff ## Neurontin gives no effects of getting high. It is also prescribed for chronic pain. I don't know all the details but if it is a teen and they thought the pills were for pain they might be thinking that the pills are in the opiate category to get high which is a total misconception. Hey everyone. I've been taking Gabapentin for about 2 months now at 300mg 3x a day. I was prescribed it after having a tumor removed from my neck which resulted in nerve damage. They help with the pain for sure as it is at least manageable now where it wasn't before. But holy the side effects! I feel like I could fall asleep anywhere, anytime of the day. I also feel off balance all the time, almost like I feel 'drunk' to an extent. I'm also finding I'm dealing with memory loss. I have a hard time remembering what I did 20 mins ago! I guess my big question is, has anyone else dealt with side effects like this? Did they ever diminish over time? I'd like to discuss with someone about the proper dosage of this medication. Can anyone help? ## There is really no set dosage for this, though you do need to start at a low dosage and gradually add more until you find the amount that works effectively for you. Most doctors will start with 100mgs taken 2 to 3 times a day, then go up to 300 and continue adding until they find what works for each patient. It would take a tremendous amount to OD on this, which is why so many doctors like to use it, they can take the dosage very high, without danger and it has very few side effects. For the past 2 years I have been using a cpac machine to sleep but lately I will wake up 5 or more times a night. My doctor prescribe medication for RLS, but it did not work, now he has prescribed Gabapentin 300 mg to help me sleep. What I have been reading about the medication doesn't include anything about taking it for sleeping. ## I was just given a prescription for gabapentin 300mg 90 minutes before bedtime. Can increase 300mg every night to a max of 1200. This increase is weekly. I have symptoms of restless leg syndrome but my problem is much more than RLS. I have heavy legs and problems with balance. I have just developed epilepsy and am in my 40's. I have been put on lemectol and have been taking a theraputic dose for several months. Originally I had headaches but they seem to have gone away. Right now I am having symptoms that i believe to be side effects. I am experiencing loss of balance or unsteadiness, a sort of dizziness, terrible hot flashes or night sweats sometimes 4-5 times a night. Right now as I right this I am loosing my balance at my computor. I am also having a hot flash at this minute. This has all occurred in the last week despite being on it for months. I took Lyrica for several years but quit taking it and switched to gabapentin which I took for several years. I took 300 mg x 3 daily and I have no short term memory and I can't think of the words I mean to say. I also took morphine and hydrocodone so I don't know which drug caused the memory loss. I now am off the opiates but take 100 mg gabapentin x2 daily for anxiety ## Both Lyrica and gabapentin are known for memory loss. Been on pain meds for years, but never had memory issues with them. I'm just wondering the difference between the two, because when I was prescribed them I was given the 636 green ones, they worked fine for me no more headaches nothing, now they have given me the g31s and I'm sick again headaches, dizziness, you name it. And all the pharmacy says it's a different company that makes them but they are still the same pill.. No they are not.. Hello. I have PLMD, which is movement of the limbs all during the night and not going into a deep sleep. Results is that I am always fatigued and never feel rested. I researched drugs for this and this is why I started the 300 mg Gabapentin 2 nights ago. Anyone else on Gabapentin for this and, if so, have you noticed improvement? I’ve been on phentermine 37.5 mg capsule & it not working at all. I was on it once before when my doctor put me on hormone replacement. I gained weight & it worked fine. I’m usually 5’6” & 120lbs.
