I've been on gabapentin for 5 months at a dose of 500 mg per day. (2 x 100mg am, 2 x 100mg at 2pm and 1 x 100mg at bedtime) Started weaning off on the 9th of December by 100mg every 5-6 days but was too fast and now I have horrible anxiety, pressure in head, dread, restlessness,gi disturbances, etc I realize that I am sensitive and must taper more slowly. I started back on taking 100 mg 3x per day but the symptoms aren't subsiding yet (it has been a day) how long can I expect for my brain to recalibrate and for things to settle down? Am I better to go back up to the full dose and start again slower? I realize that everyone is different but I appreciate any advice as I'm barely functional. :( ## Hello, Maria! How are you? Yes, those symptoms can occur upon withdrawal of this ...

Slight rash on wrists and taking lamictal. Should I go to emergency room? ## Hello, Skipper! How are you? A slight rash isn't something that requires an emergency visit, but you should go if it worsens, you start getting hives or develop problems breathing, which the FDA lists as all being possible signs of an allergic reaction. A skin rash is actually a common side effect of this medication. You may also experience nausea, irritability, clumsiness and blurred vision. Has there been any change to the rash?

Nothing about migraines. ## can you explained why it was given or migraines? ## That's why it was prescribed to me but I stopped taking it because of the side effects. ## Hello, Puddlin! How are you? Many medications treat multiple conditions and these antiseizure ones have been shown to help with migraines, some mood disorders and certain types of nerve pain. I wonder does anyone else suffer with ongoing everyday pain in their teeth/tooth caused by nerve endings in gums, it took a very long time to get diagnosis for this, and a few extractions by dentist before doctors discovered it was a nerve pain and not a dental pain, I have had this for several years now, everyday in life, its like having a toothache, I had a back tooth removed when it first began as I was insistent it was a toothache, but it only moved into the next tooth, my dentist refused to remove anymore teeth as xray showed there was no problem with my teeth, and the one removed was a very healthy tooth. Ive been to hospitals, see Professors, had RadioFreqency carried out on it going through my cheek, with no success, as wrong nerve was burned off, my GP says it will go away one ...

My mother is having herpes and she was advised to take Oxetol 150mg. What is its purpose and how does it help? ## What type of symptoms was she experiencing from the Herpes and what type does she have? Oxetol contains the active ingredient Oxcarbazepine, which is an anticonvulsant, however, it is also used to treat other health conditions, if a doctor deems that it may be useful. Side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, headaches and vomiting. ## Hi, Im am taking oxetol 1500 mg since last 1 year as I am suffering from Complex partial seizure and OCD. Although the epelictic episodes have been reduced, I feel that my grasping power and memory has weakened. Is this the effect of the medicine? I am also taking prodep 40 and arpizol 2.5 mg. Please advise.

I would like to know if this capsule orange D 04 gabapentin 400 mg has beads inside of it? ## Since there's no way for anyone to see through a solid capsule, the only way to find out is by opening it up. However, if you're inquiring about this for the purpose of lowering your dosage (by removing potential beads) I would just encourage you to ask your doctor for a lower strength. Opening up the capsule only to find powder inside would probably be a waste of a pill being that they're probably quite difficult to put back together without losing a portion of the contents. You can also try contacting the manufacturer (Aurobindo Pharma) for more specific details on the composition of their capsule at: [email protected] I hope this helps!

Dicorate Er 500-one tablet was given by the Neuurologist to my son aged 12 years, after dinner. He has been very agressive and his EEG report says that "Interictal State of seizure disorder". MRI brain report is "The non-contrast MRI findings of brain are within normal limits". By taking one tablet he has been feeling sleepy, but the neurologist has now suggested to take two tablets in a day to get good result. Is it wise to give two tablets in a day to my son. Besides, one Pschyratist has advised to take one tablet Platin 10 Mg every day morning and Rosedin half tablet every day before going to bed. ## I am an alchoholic, and was admitted in a rehab, in the rehab they have been giving me Topirol 100 and Dicorate ER 500(2 tabs) daily for 4 months then , i was discharged,...

I found a small white pill with a DZ / 16 on one side nothing on the other. Does anyone know what it is? ## My first guess is that this is either an over the counter or a foreign medication. I say that because I even checked with the US National Institute of Health (nih.gov) and nothing was coming up which matches the imprint DZ 16. May I ask what country you are in? "DZ" almost sounds like it could be a brand of Diazepam, but to my knowledge it does not come in a 16 mg dose. So it is most likely not the case. Do you have any other details such as packaging or where the pill was obtained? ## Soda pop - could you have possibly mean the imprint ZD 16? Please double check the pill and let me know because I can ID a pill exactly matching your description, only it is ZD instead of DZ...

ive been taking gabapentin for about 5 weeks. i have built up the dosage from 1 *300mg tablet per day up to 5 tablets a day.(and rising). Im concerned the gabapentin will become less effective as I build up my dosage. Compared to other tablets ive taken they have been quite effective with less side effects. tried to have a "day off" from them and it didnt go so well. Pain management tablets is likely to be a long term requirement as i have no diagnosis. Should i try to take a "break" for a day every now and again to slow down tolerance (does doing that make them less effective)? is tolerance a justified concern? ## Hello, Sid! How are you? Yes, tolerance is a valid concern, but for most people it takes several years, not just a few weeks. Thus, you likely don't need ...

Is it safe to combine Kapanol, Dilantin and Stilnox? Ta. ## Hello, Michelle! How are you? They can be taken together, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA classifies Kapanol as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Dilantin may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. Stilnox may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, hallucinations, sleep actions and next day hangover-like effects. Is there anything else I can help with?

Since I started taking gabapentin 300mg 3 times a day. for neuropathic pain in the spine last December I have put on One stone in weight, I have watched my diet carefully but the weight still went on. It helps ease the pain but I can not afford to keep putting on weight..Any suggestions ## Unfortunately, that is a known side effect of Gabapentin, as reported by the FDA. It can also cause others, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and mood swings. You may want to ask your doctor about possibly trying Pregabalin, it is a similar medication, but may not cause you the problem with weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?

I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between these medications, but it's always best to double check to be sure. I have taken 300 mg daily for 30 years.Blood level run 3 days ago,Dilantin too high..Dr. Has dropped me to 200 mg a day for 1 month...how will this affect me? Presently I thought my synthroid was acting up because I was loopy, dizzy, trouble w/ balance etc .Leaving town for holiday and don't want to end up in ER...help! ## Hello, Patti! How are you? Did you encounter any problems with the lowered dosage? Usually, if the dose is just lowered then any issues are mitigated and should not be serious enough to land you in the ER. It is a full abrupt stop that would normally create problematic issues. How high was your level? The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and weight gain.

Iv been taking gabapentin and iv been having sharp pains in my head that goes to my eyes why is that ## Hi Dameris, Based on my research, Gabapentin was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, and is currently widely used to relieve neuropathic pain. Gabapentin's most common side effects in adult patients include dizziness, drowsiness, and peripheral edema (swelling of extremities); these mainly occur at higher doses, in the elderly. However, headaches/migraines and eye pain are a couple of the rare and unexplained side effects, so I would speak with a doctor about the problems you are experiencing. I'm on 500 mg of keppra a day. I have never had an actual seizure but was prescribed it as I used to get really hot and nauseous, and feel faint. I have been on this for 3yrs. Can I stop taking it? ## Hello, Andrea! How are you? Actually, those could have been seizures. When you experience such symptoms, it could be due to focal point seizures, as explained by the NIH. Thus. I'd not recommend stopping the medication, without your doctor's approval. The relevant question is, have you experienced these symptoms, since you've been taking the Keppra? If not, then you have your answer that they were focal point seizures. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain.
