I have been taking 100 mg of gabapentin for three weeks for neuropathy and it helped but I am feeling so down and giving mood swings so I want to stop taking it. Can I just stop it without ant problems. I'm taking a capsule so I can't cut it in half. ## After such a short period of time, you usually can, but it would be best to check with your doctor, to be safe. If you are prone to seizures, there is a risk of your experiencing them, according to FDA reports. However, you should be aware that these side effects will usually pass, once your body gets used to the medication, which generally takes about 5 to 6 weeks. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

My Gabapentin intake was increased to 2500mg a day and since then it has increased my libido dramatically. I was just wondering if there is anyone else who has had this side effect? It's not a bad side effect but I was just wondering. ## Some medications do that to some people, in some others it may cause the opposite effect. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight changes. Have you experienced any other issues from taking this higher dose? ## I just got prescribed Gabapentin, 900 mg/day and this is day 5 and I'm still feeling loopy. If you don't mind me asking, why are you on such a high dose? I'm on it for a few nerve damage issues, but have noticed my mood is a bit more upbeat.

Trying to find help to pay for my meds. I take gabapentin 800 mg three times a day and now they just now put me on a spin down where they won't cover my prescriptions unless I spend $1,600 every 3 months on medical. So I was wondering if there's any programs that you know of you can point me in the right direction? Thank you, bye bye. ## Hi Joyce - sorry to hear about your challenges covering the Gabapentin costs. Truly a sad thing to hear as noone should have to extend themselves financially to pay for a drug that helps them! Well, I imagine that you may have several options. One could be trying out a rx discount card like this one this site offers. It's free to use, and in some cases it can really offer a good savings on prescription refills. Another route would be to try ...

I ran out of my tramadol was wondering if could be take the gabapentin in its place with my methacarbam muscle relaxants ? ## Hello, Slo! How are you? Gabapentin is not an actual analgesic, so it won't work like the Tramadol. As classified by the FDA, it's actually an anticonvulsant that can also help with some types of nerve pain and some mood disorders, but it must be taken for 4 to 6 weeks, before it will reach its full level of efficacy in the body and alleviate pain. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. Tramadol, however, is an opioid analgesic that carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. Methocarbamol is a muscle r...

I was without consultation forced to join Cadabam Mental Health in January 2016 by my family. I was forcefully administered tablets there & made to stay for 9 months. I had been given Dicorate Er 250 mg which I am continuosly taking but now I want to stop as it is giving me heart & chest aches, I feel inactive, etc. I have not consulted any Psychotherapist regarding it. My EEG was not taken for epilepsy but I was simply categorized as borderline schezinophernia. So can I stop taking it abruptly or is there a lower mg I can taper off of? Foreign countries have banned its usage above 60mg in a day & that too in very bad cases, otherwise only 10mg per day.

I have been taking Gabapintin (Neurontin) for fibromyalgia pain. Although it has worked well I have gained close to 35 pounds. Does anyone know of a anti-nerve pain pill that does not cause weight gain. ## There is really no way a doctor or anyone else can know ahead of time how any medication can affect anyone. They can only assume that it will be effective based on medical records, current health, age, what the condition is, whether or not any other medications are being taken at the same time, etc. Any of these factors as well as others can affect how you respond to this drug. Personally, I think if you are able to do so, that a significant change in diet and exercise habits would prove to be effective. From what I can tell, the medication you are taking may cause cravings and/or pro...

I'm trying to identify a pill that is white, oblong/oval in shape, with 204 imprinted on one side (blank on the other side). This pill is not scored. ## I found a pill with 204 on it and it's white. It's Gabapentin 800 mg. Gabapentin is for the treatment of epilepsy, and currently, gabapentin is widely used to relieve pain, especially neuropathic pain. To learn more click on the link below... Do you have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you do. ## Thanks Crystal - I suspected that's what it was so I appreciate your response!! ## If it's got ip 204, it's a Percocet 10mg, not no Gabapentin or Sudafed. Please be very careful if you don't get em from a Dr or pharmacy. Don't play Russian roulette.

I am taking Zenoxa 450mg two times a day for the last four month. Now joint pains have started in all body. Whether it is a side effect of the medicines. Test of uric acid and RA factor is normal and negative. ## Zenoxa contains the active ingredient Oxcarbazepine. Oxcarbazepine causes dizziness, drowsiness, blurred or double vision, fatigue and may cause headaches, nausea, and vomiting. There is also evidence of difficulty in concentration and mental sluggishness. Some of these side effects (such as headache) are more pronounced shortly after a dose is taken and tend to fade with the passage of time (generally 60 to 90 minutes). Other side effects include stomach pain; tremor; rash; diarrhea, constipation, decreased appetite; and dry mouth. Skin sensitivity to sunlight also may increas...

I've had surgery and pain block injections for damage to nerves in my lower spine from a 'spur' - neither helped. Been on painkillers daily for 35 yrs, tried everything and now at best left with 80% pain. Had 100mcg fentanyl patches and their effect lessened so now I'm on 62.5 mcg fentanyl + 3x 300 mg gabapentin + 3x 50 mg tramadol combined daily. Still in agony. Any suggestions to help me please? What is the maximum mcg strength of combined fentanyl patches that can be used together every 72 hours? Thanks.

I am 37 yr old female, and have been having severe headaches since I was about 22-23yrs old. The drs have tried sevral different medications, and while some seem to work for a bit, and others not at all. I am tired of having these bad migrains as it interupts my daily activities. I have had a migraine that lasted just about 3 days, couldnt figure out what was wrong and why am I getting them so much. I finally saw a dr that i was very comfortable with, and she first tried me on firocet, had the generic version, and was ok at first but started to get worse. I was told to take those1 every four (4) hours as needed. sadly it came to the point where I needed to take every four hours. I have been on vimpat, 150 mg twice per day since October and felt like a zombie and always tired. My doc recently reduced vimpat to 100 mg twice per day. I felt better and seem to over due my activities because today I woke up totally exhausted and slept all day. Has anyone felt totally exhausted when reducing vimpat? If yes, how long does it last? ## Yes, that can be a normal withdrawal effect, when you stop a medication, or lower your dosage. You may also experience nausea, fever, chills, and pain. It may take several weeks for things to balance back out, if they don't, then you should consult your doctor. Is this the only medication you are currently taking? ## Yes, I am only on vimpat. For 15 years I was misdiagnosed as having MS and 6 months ago, after being hospitalised in an...

I've recently been told by (family and friends) that this is a dangerous amount I'm on and they're worried. I do have a doctor appointment scheduled but my doctor left the practice and I'm having to start over with a new one. My previous dr NEVER discussed anything about this drug. She kept telling me to up the dosage until my back felt better. Well, my back pain has all but disappeared. I'm hearing so many bad things about this med and I'm actually thinking this med might be contributing to my career struggle. I write for a living, and coincidentally around the time I started this medication I began having trou...
