When taking prescribed antibiotics and the dosage is 1 pill twice a day, how many hours should before the next dosage? ## Hi Dman, Based on a 24 hour time scale, if you're required to take 1 pill twice daily, that "generally" means taking 1 pill every twelve hours. However I would recommend double checking this with your doctor first, in case he or she has special instructions for your individual case. From what I understand, the dosing schedule may also depend on the brand and whether or not it's an extended release tablet. I hope this helps! What's the name of the antibiotic you're taking? ## levetiraceta 1000MG ## I've just started taking Nitrofurantoin MCR 100MG CAPSULES. They're yellow in color. ## I'm taking amox-clav 875mg tablets. Hi. I was given a prescription for cephalexin 500mg for 3x a day after having two teeth extracted. The second day of the dose my throat felt tight and also as if there was a lump or something stuck in my throat as well as a difficulty swallowing food. I stopped taking the cephalexin and the next day the feeling went away. My dentist prescribed me amoxicillin 500mg instead. My questions are, were my symptoms with the cephalexin a type of anaphylactic shock and could I be allergic to cephalexin? My second question is, is amoxicillin similar to cephalexin and could it cause a similar reaction? I've never had a reaction to amoxicillin before but I am worried after what happened with the cephalexin. Would it be safe to take the amoxicillin as well? Thank you so much for any information y...
Updated in AmoxicillinBefore I started taking doxytet I had a smelly discharge. After I started taking it my vagina had a burning sensation and was itchy. Is this normal as I didn't have this before taking the pills? I also have a white non-smelly discharge which comes in excess. ## Hello, Zee! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you're having. Antibiotics can sometimes cause a yeast infection as a side effect, while clearing up other infections and it sounds like that's what may have happened. If so, you'll need to see your doctor to get an antifungal medication to take to treat it. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi. I've got a smelly yellow/brownish discharge ...

Everything that I'm reading about Smz/Tmp 800 is freaking me out! Now I don't think that I want to take it! Anyway I was wondering if it will work on an abscess? Please, any help would be great! ## I understand your concern, since it is a sulfa based antibiotic, it can cause some problematic side effects in some people that take it and about 3% are allergic to it. I had a bad experience with it myself and can't take it, again. However, the percentage that have problems with it is actually a very small number and the greater amount of people take it without experiencing any problems. Its regular side effects are no different than any other antibiotic and may include nausea, dizziness, non-alelrgic skin rash and diarrhea. Learn more Bactrim details here. And it can be used for...

In this case, I have read where some doctors tell people to start over completely, if they miss a dosage, but other cases where just missing one doesn't seem to matter, so I am not really sure which to go by. what is purpose of acido nalidixico fenazopiridina ## The active ingredients are 500mgs of Nalidixic Acid and 50mgs of Phenazopyridine. It is commonly used to treat urinary tract infections, because some bacteria that cause them are sensitive to the acid and will be killed by it. That said, however, it is not an antibiotic, so it may help clear it up, but there is also a chance that it won't. The main side effect warned about when taking this is photo-sensitivity. You can read more about this medication by following the links below: Is there anything else I can help you with? ## Is it safe to take for people allergic to penicillin? ## I have pain in my right kidney... I am on 26 mg of Methadone and I take 600mg of Mucinex every 12hrs., but I got a prescription for Doxycycline 100mg 2 times a day for 7 days. Can I take them all together? ## According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), there are no interactions listed between Methadone, Mucinex and Doxycycline. While this doesn't necessarily mean that no interactions exist, it is my hypothesis that this combination is generally regarded as safe. However, if you still have any doubts about your prescriptions, I'd encourage you to consult your prescribing doctor and/or a local pharmacist before moving forward with treatment. Hope this helps!

I have just started I took one and Im thinking 3 times a day every 8 hours will this help? ## Gregory, Bactrim is not the most effective antibiotic for dental infections. Most hospitals offer a dental clinic based on ability to pay or charity care. I understand the challenges of being financially strapped but even taken as prescribed this class drug may not completely focus on the complex infections encountered in dental sensitive organisms. For other types of infections the usual dosage of this drug is two tablets taken twice daily for ten days or otherwise directed by your prescriber. I hope that ...

I have Nitrofurantoin that expired in 2015 - Can I still take them? I suffered from UTI's on a regular basis at that time and have not had it again until now. ## This medication does not become dangerous, once expired, but it can lose efficacy. Thus, I feel it should not be taken, as doing so creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Given that possibility, my opinion is that it would be best to see your doctor for a new prescription. On the contrary however, according to Harvard University’s Medical Center, “Most of what is known about drug expiration dates comes from a study conducted by the Food and Drug Administration at the request of the military. With a large and expensive stockpile of drugs, the military faced tossing out and replacing it...

My Dr gave me Sulfamethoxazole DS by accident when I am 6 weeks pregnant. What has it done to my Baby girl? Do I worry until she is born? ## Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim is an antibiotic, commonly prescribed under the brand name Bactrim and while it has been shown to carry some risk, when used during pregnancy, no controlled studies have been done to definitively prove exactly what those risks are. And yes, unfortunately, until the baby is born, there is really no way to know if any harm has been done. On thing you may want to do, however, is talk to your doctor to make sure you are taking a Folic Acid supplement. May pregnant women do not get enough in their diets and a lack of it has been known to cause birth defects. On top of that, the antibiotic has been known to prevent it f...
