trying to find if echinacea and goldenseal can be taken with sulfameth trimethoprim+ ## Unfortunately, since Echinacea and Goldenseal are both natural herbal products, they actually haven't been tested for possible interactions with prescription medications And to be honest, if it were me, I wouldn't combine anything else with the Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim, just to be extra cautious. As a sulfa based antibiotic, it's very well known to cause odd side effects in people, even if they aren't allergic to it, so I'd be very hesitant to take it with any medications that aren't life sustaining/necessary. I was told I had a Kidney infection and was prescribed sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim 800/160MG to take one pill in the morning and one pill at night.This Saturday night will be my last pill. I also was prescribed Metronidazole, to take two pills in the morning and two at night. I just took my last 2 pills for that. Now, I know I have to wait at least 48 hours after taking Metronidazole to drink alcohol. But my question here is how long after I take my last pill Saturday night can I sit down and get drunk? I was thinking 24 hours after I take my last pill? Since it is a "normal" antibiotic. I started feeling sick last week, but thought nothing of it. Went to the dr on Wed. and up until then I had no fevers. Was prescribed SMZ/TMP. She really couldn't diagnose me at that time. I started it Wed. night. Went back to work on Thurs. and had to leave mid morning. I could barely stand up straight. I kept doubling over. By the time I got home fever of 103. I have a bacterial pink eye infection. can i use this to get rid of it? if so what is the dosage? ## Hi melinda, Pota-Vi-Kin is a foreign brand name of Penicillin. I'm not sure what dosage of it you have there, but pink eye is almost always viral in origin; meaning that antibiotics won't have any effect on it anyways, since they are only good for bacterial infections and not viruses. (So only if you had a really rare pink eye from susceptible bacteria would this be effective). Have you tried any natural remedies or other medications yet?
