what cold medicine is safe to take with this pill? ## There isn't a list of medications I can give you that are said to be safe to take with it. The way it usually works is that you check the medication you want to take, against this one for possible interactions. Learn more Augmentin details here. Can you post back with the name of the cold medication you normally take? If so, I will gladly check and let you know if there are any problems between them.

can you take Nitrofur Macr 100 Mg & Z Pac together. I have two pills of the Nitrofur left for a bladder infection. I got prescribed a z pac for a horrible cold & sore throat can I take the two antibiotics together? ## Hi Karen, Based on my research, no known interactions exist between Nitrofur Macro (Nitrofurantoin) and Z pack; also known as Zithromax (Azithromycin). However, this does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. I have done my best to provide you with accurate information; but you should ALWAYS consult with your doctor or pharmacist before combining medications. I hope this helps!

I had a bladder infection - my doc prescribed Ciprox 500 mg. it started to get better then started to come back the 3rd day - was about to call doc when he called me to say that he was prescribing Nitrofur because they found I had e coli infelction in the labs - why didn't they prescribe Nitro 1st? according to these discussions cip is supposed to be for both. Any input? ## According to medicinenet.com, "Ciprofloxacin is frequently used to treat urinary infections caused by bacteria such as E. coli. Ciprofloxacin is also effective in treating infectious diarrheas caused by E. coli, Campylobacter jejuni, and Shigella bacteria." I'm not entirely sure why they would wait to prescribe Nitro afterwards, but from what I could gather Nitrofurantoin is solely used for the purpos...

Six months ago I had the staph infection MERSA. Three lesions were surgically treated and I was on bactrim for three weeks. The results were successful. One week ago I indicated to my internist, who was completely aware of the prior condition and treatment, that I had a supect growth on my rear. Upon examination he doubted that the infection was a repeat , did not suggest surgery but did prescribe ciprofloxacin 500 mg for a period of 10 days. In another city four days latter I beleived that that the growth had increased. Went to a large city hospital's emergency room were the senior specialist recommended lancing. That was done and I left with a perscription for sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/600 to be taken over ten days. All seems to be going well, however, I have asthma. Nomally it is c...

how far apart (timing) do I need to take this drug? ## You really don't need to worry about being exactly precise on the interval. If you are supposed to take them 3 times a day, then doing so at breakfast, lunch and dinner will be fine. Learn more Augmentin details here. If you are taking several a day, you shouldn't take them all at once, they do need to be somewhat spaced out, but it doesn't have to be on an exact schedule. I was prescribed this to help with a stye on my eye. 3 days into it i got the worst sore throat i have ever had in my life. The dr. said that I do not have strep. Could the sore throat be a result of taking this drug? ## According to the Mayo Clinic, the following symptoms are listed as severe side effects of Doxycycline, which should be reported to your doctor as soon as possible: Cough Increased thirst Shortness of breath Sore throat Sores in the mouth Ref: mayoclinic.com/health/drug-information/DR601831/DSECTION=side-effects Your body may end up responding better to a different antibiotic. Have you considered any natural options? ## Doxycycline is an antibiotic and it may cause some dry mouth/throat which could be causing your throat to feel sore. HI! I've been using Amox Tr Clv 825-125 for my strep throat and ive been suffering from a very severe chronic headache side affect anybody got any advice for me ## From what I could gather, headaches are in-fact listed as a side effect of Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium. If this medication just isn't agreeing with your body, my honest opinion would be to either go for a different antibiotic or try a natural alternative to help remedy the infection. For starters, natural raw honey can help sooth your throat of phlegm, mucous, and irritation from coughing. I believe raw honey also has potent antibacterial properties to aid in your treatment. Perhaps having a nice warm mug of green tea with raw honey in it would be quite beneficial. You might also want to stay away from dairy p...

Red Capsule has Ranbaxy printed on it, but package says AMX-500 and Amoxicillin Caosules IP ## Ranbaxy is actually just the name of the manufacturer, the name of the antibiotic medication is Amoxicillin. Ive had terramicina 5g ointment since 2010. Is it expired? ## Was the package opened? If so, then it most likely is, because liquids and ointments tend to break down fast and rarely last more than a few months, at most. Learn more Oxytetracycline details here. Learn more Polymyxin B details here. In such cases, it's usually best to just dispose of the old ointment and purchase new product. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have some trimethoprim left from a urinary inection last year, can I use these til the Thursday or Friday when I can go to the dentist. is it safe to take a but/apap/caf codeinecap if the expiration date is 01-18-2012 ## Hi mary, My answer to your question would be yes, it is safe to take this specific medication past it's due date. According to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. At worst, it may have lost a bit of potency, but the only way to find out precisely would be to have it lab tested. Source: health.harvard.edu/fhg/updates/update1103a.shtml I hope this info helps to shed some light on the topic of expired medication :)

I took this pill and the expiration date is 09/23/11. Is anything going to happen to me? ## Hi Crystal, According to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. Source: health.harvard.edu/fhg/updates/update1103a.shtml Penicillin does not go bad/get dangerous with age, per se, however, it can lose efficacy and may not work as well as it did, when it was new. This means that taking a standard dose may not effectively wipe out an infection and could actually cause the development of drug resistant bacteria. My daughter has been using this for 3 days now, I notice that the skin of the wound is cracking and peeling, it also turned dark, is it normal? by the way my daughter had been trying so many ointments prescribed by the doctors those were: flucotisone and antibiotic ## Hi Teresa, Based on my research, some side effects of Clotrim Beta Diprop Cream include: blistering, burning, itching, peeling, dryness, and redness. That means that this cream could be causing your daughter's skin to react. If it were me, I would discontinue the use of this product until you can meet with your physician. I haven't found any information stating that you shouldn't mix this cream with the other drug you mentioned, Flucotisone, however I'm not sure about the antibiotic you mentioned. Does it h...

Cough substitute for tanna. presscripion date 2.2 2009. can I take it today for a cough or should I throw it out ? ## Hi molly, There's actually a lot of conflicting information around the topic of expired medication, but according to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. This conclusion was based upon a study conducted at the request of the US military due to stockpiles of expensive drugs they could otherwise need to replace every few years. The conclusion was that 90% of those drugs remained effective 10 - 15 years after the expiration date. I don't know if the drug you have happens to be one of these drugs from the st...

Sulfameth/Trimeth 800/1APX and novo-Trimel DS 800/160mg and Septra DS 800/160mg - are these the same mediations except the one without the DS is single strength? ## All three of those medications appear to have the same dosage of Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim. The DS does stand for double-strength, however I'm not sure what the "1APX" stands for, as not even google can figure that one out Lol. Did you mean to put 160mgs? Whether or not it says DS at the end, it still seems to contain the same amount of Sulfamethoxazole as the others, and in therefore should also have the same amount of Trimethoprim.
