I have a tooth ache (wisdom tooth) possible infection on mandibular left quadrant. I got amoxicillin 500 GG849. Just wondering if it's safe to take. The capsule is a orangey tanish color. My 1yr old son has been prescribed Ofloxacin suspension for watery Diarrhoea that he has been suffering from for the last 4 days. Ofloxacin has been banned in the US for its "reversible & irreversible injury to the musculoskelital system in children" as one website said.What do I do? Is it of any use in diarrhoea? I am on day 4 of a 10 day script. i am pumping and dumping. how hours or days after last dose should i wait before breastfeeding again? ## Hello, AMP! How are you? About a week and a half ago I came down with a really bad sore throat. Swollen tonsils. White pus on them. Slight, low-grade fever. No coughing. No sinus issues. Some body/joint/muscle aches. Rapid strep (for Type A) came back negative. Mono test was negative. But I was given Z-Pak antibiotic for three days. That helped. Sore throat was almost gone. Then I got hit with a different kind of sore throat. Pain felt different. Then I started getting small "white head" type pimples on my neck and shoulders. I went back to the doctor. I was started on Azithromycin by my Dr. in case I had strep throat but come to find out I have a real bad wisdom tooth infection, which is very painful..The script of Azithromycin is for 5days will this work for my infection in my tooth? ## Hello, Crystal! Hello, I've been taking cephalexin to treat an arm infection and I've had an itchy/runny nose, sneezing, and mild headaches since I started taking it. I don't see this as a side effect. I have been prescribed antibiotics frequently by doctors. I frequently have infections related to bacterial infections and have noticed something strange slowly occurring. It started in my right leg then the left knee. I can't straighten either leg. Tingling and then it felt like a ball under my skin. My hands are showing hard clumps. Two PCPs have told me it is my tendons. Pain numbness the curling up of tendons are the symptoms. Is this from the heavy use of antibiotics? ## Hello, Connie! How are you doing? I have bactrim that expired 10 days ago. Is it safe to take? ## Dear Michelle, I wouldn't take any medications after they expired. If u need a new script, call you're Dr. No medications should b used if they have expired. I just cleaned out medicine cabinet. ## To add some specifics, antibiotics are very problematic, once past their expiration, because as they begin to lose efficacy, they may not completely eradicate bacteria, which creates the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Has your doctor prescribed the Cephalexin? ## @Libby - do you have any known medication allergies? Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic, whereas Cephalexin is a cephalosporin antibiotic. They are generally prescribed for similar types of bacterial infections (Cephalexin being given to those sensitive to penicillin antibiotics).
