Ofloxacin Suspension

My 1yr old son has been prescribed Ofloxacin suspension for watery Diarrhoea that he has been suffering from for the last 4 days. Ofloxacin has been banned in the US for its "reversible & irreversible injury to the musculoskelital system in children" as one website said.What do I do? Is it of any use in diarrhoea? Doctors please advise.

If it were my child, I would not give them this antibiotic due to the risks which were already mentioned.

And no, it isn't likely to help with diarrhea, since most bouts of it are caused by viruses or food poisoning, neither of which are bacterial infections, which is what an antibiotic treats.

I know its too late to reply this question, however i am replying for future reader.

I have consult my doctor and he had advised to use "econorm" sachet for 8 month old baby. it comes in powder form and half a sachet twice a day dosage. this helped a lot in diarrhea.
