At the suggestion of a hotel doctor I bought Azitromicina 500mg for the treatment of a chest infection in MX. Tried to submit a claim for the cost via my US insurance as they say they reimburse worldwide RX expenses. But now they want the 11 digit 'national drug code' or no payout. I checked the FDA NDC database but: 1. it states all NDC's are 10 digit and: 2. obviously this is not a US product and therefore not in there. How can I find what I need to get my costs back? It is Zertalin Azitromicina 500mg (Collins Farmaceuticos) 6 tablets in a white jar with silver/black/blue label. The pharmacist 'said' it was a 2 course pack for 3 days I.E. 1 tablet per day for 3 days (2 courses contained). Is this correct also? I usually have known ZPak or Azithromycin to be 2 on th...

What is the oval shaped pill ME 63 used for? I have a friend that found this pill by her 91 year old Mother's bedside and she is worried that it will harm her Mother. ## To answer your question, Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim is a sulfonamide antibacterial combination that is used in the treatment of a variety of bacterial infections. Although its list of potential side effects makes this drug arguably one of the least desirable antibiotics on the market (in my opinion), all prescription drugs carry certain risk factors. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim Details I hope this info helps! ## I've lost a filling and then the tooth broke off at the gum area .Now i suffer with a tender and swollen gum on a regular. im break out if I take penicillin and I was wondering if sulfa trimeth ds 800-160 have any penicillin bc the doctor give me some and I was just wondering if it have any before I take any ## Hi ash, Sulfamethoxazole + trimethoprim does not contain any penicillin; nor is it derived from penicillin. It's actually a sulfonamide. So as long as you aren't also allergic to sulfa drugs, there shouldn't be any problems in my opinion. Additionally, my thoughts are that if the doctor was already aware of your allergy to penicillin, he/she probably wouldn't make the mistake of prescribing something that was related to it. Although it is good that you took the time to check because mistakes do happen. I hope this helps!

I have doxycycline for acne in capsules that's about 2 years old , is it ok to take ## Hello, Tv! How are you? It would be best to dispose of it and obtain a new prescription, if you need an antibiotic. Medications tend to degrade over time and lose efficacy, which means it may not work as well as it did, when it was new and that creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Doxycycline as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello, I have had C-Diff and have taken Dificid for it. The drug works very well when I take it but then the diarrhea comes back when I stop taking it. Does anyone know if I can take Dificid all the time to control the diarrhea? ## No, it shouldn't be taken just for that. You need to consult your doctor to see if you still have C-Diff and if so, how to eradicate it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I hope that they do not keep you on dificid for diarrhea. I think that will destroy all of your good bacteria. I am going to finish my prescription tomorrow (10 days) and am hoping I am done with the c diff.

in the old days was used to remve small tumors when grown underthe arms ## Hi Sandy, Whereabouts did you used to get this type of ointment from? I've done a fair amount of research the name Penetro, but haven't actually come any specific details describing an ointment or cream; just a portuguese brand inhaler containing Terpina Monoidratada as a decongestant. In light of this, part of me wonders if Penetro is something that may have originated elsewhere. Did you mean to say penetrex cream, penetran cream, or penaten cream by chance? And was tumor treatment listed as an off-label use?

The color baige , they don't smell like amoxicillin ## Hello, Reds! How are you? Can you please post back with the markings on it? If so, I will gladly check for you to verify what they contain. The FDA classifies Amoxicillin as an antibiotic that is used to treat or prevent bacterial infections. Typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

shortness of breath and hip pain ## Hello, Mary! How are you? Have you been diagnosed with C Difficile? Are you being treated for it? I'm sorry, but your post isn't very clear, so I can't help you without your providing more information. This is an infection that causes an inflammation of the large intestine, usually it occurs due to antibiotic treatment and mild cases can be resolved by discontinuing the culprit antibiotic.

Just wondering if you can take stacker 3 while taking clindamycin ## Hi Cat, Unfortunately when it comes to OTC dietary supplements or fat burners like Stacker 3, determining their safety with pharmaceutical drugs is often a challenge, because non-pharmaceutical preparations is a category that tends to go unaccounted for with regards to general information on potential interactions. For that reason I'd strongly encourage you to get in touch with your doctor first and foremost before taking anything that he/she hasn't prescribed or recommended. In many cases I've come across, these types of combinations usually turn out to be fine and it's just a matter of getting your Dr's. approval to ensure safety. I hope this helps!

I have 30 individual doses of this med that my son was receiving via picc line at home. Just trying to get an idea of the cost that others faced for this medication to see if it is in line with what I had to pay. ## My insurance would not cover any of the costs and my doctor told me that zyvox will attack a lot of the germs that most antibiotics wouldn't, he went on to say that if there was any way I could afford the cost to do it because he felt this would save my foot, I borrowed the money and it cost me 98.00 per 600mg tablet and I was perscribed 28 tablets 1 every 12 hours for 14 days; so without taxes it cost me around 2750.00. I think it was closer to 2800.00 with taxes ## I had the same issue with my foot. But my doctor knew nothing about this drug. I did my own searching and...

Can I take Clindamycin HCL 300MG if it expired on 4/26/14? Thank you. ## Hi Dea, While some antibiotics like tetracycline can become toxic after they expire, my findings lead me to believe that Clindamycin doesn't and should also be fine having only been expired for 9 months. According to mhra.gov.uk, Clindamycin has a shelf life of 15 months. There's also an article in the LA Times Newspaper (which you can find online) stating that researchers from the California Poison Control System, UC San Francisco and UC Irvine did a study investigating a variety of old drugs and concluded that many of them are still ok to take even up to 28-40 years after the listed expiration date! That said, I don't think you have anything to worry about as long as it was stored properly and not lef...

Allergic to penicillin does Azitromicina contain any? ## Hi alton, Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It does NOT contain any Penicillin, nor is it related to Penicillin. Azithromycin is actually a derivative of Erythromycin, so as long as you aren't allergic to Erythromycin as well, it seems to me that you shouldn't have any problems. Here is a study from The US National Library of Medicine for added validation, discussing the safety of Azithromycin in patients who have a known allergy to Penicillin: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8001336 I hope this helps!

I have taken 2 augmentin 875-125 pills 12 hours apart. Is it safe for me to start azithromycin after 12 hours have lapsed since the last augmentin? ## Hello, Vern! How are you? Has your doctor instructed you to switch from one to the other? There aren't any problems with doing so, since they are both antibiotics. If you were taking them together, the Azithromycin could reduce the efficacy of the Amoxicillin. The FDA classifies these medications as antibiotics and typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you....everything is fine

Is it safe to take doxytet while breast feeding ## Doxttetracycline is an antibiotic and it can really depend on how long you are taking it. If you will be on it for a long term, then you may want to avoid breast feeding while taking it, because this class of antibiotics has been known to cause staining of the tooth buds of developing infants and children and this staining is permanent. If you are only on it for a short time, such as 10 days or so, then there shouldn't be any issues, because there hasn't been enough of it detected in the breast milk in such cases to cause harm. 9 Year old was at dr today for stomach flu. Called in rx to pharmacy. When I arrived home now I see it says 4pills 1 time daily so that would be 2000 mg at once for 10 days.......is that safe ? ## Hello, Kathy! How is your son doing? Why was it prescribed for flu? Antibiotics are only effective at treating bacterial infections, as listed by the FDA, they will not treat the flu, which is caused by a virus. Unless he has developed some type of infection, then it isn't appropriate. Typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. As to the dosage, that's not too much in a day, though it may cause more side effects than lower dosages, but it is also usually split up and taken 2 to 3 times daily. Have you double c...
