i have infection in my legs they gave me amoxicillin then bactrim what is the next stronger anti biotic they may order ## Hello, Wayne! How are you doing? When it comes to antibiotics, it isn't necessarily strength, but rather their effectiveness at eradicating whatever bacteria you're dealing with that matters. That said, I have no way of knowing which one they may try next, if this one doesn't work. They may even prescribe a combination, or decide that you need some high doses administered via IV. Have they cultured the bacteria, so you know what it is? The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

should I continue this medicine if I have dirreha>>>>> 4th day on it ! ## Hello, Martha! How are you doing? Diarrhea can be a normal side effect of most antibiotics, including this one, so it's completely normal to experience that while taking it. Just check in with your doctor if it gets too severe and make sure that you don't become dehydrated. You may also experience nausea, dizziness and a non-allergic skin rash. I used Bactrim; it takes more time to work than clindamycin. It has taken four days for the swelling to go down, but it has gone down and is almost normal now. I have double strength pills and will take them 2x a day for ten days. I also used the clove oil on my gums and that is working very well. They are going from red to pink again. You can buy this a CVS or Walgreens in the toothpaste isle. I also have been taking four advil 2x day for the swelling. ## Hello, KLF! How are you feeling? I'm glad the antibiotic worked for you. How fast it helps really depends on the nature of the bacteria and the severity of the infection. I truly believe this medication caused my husband death. He was an active man age 74 and avid golfer (3-4 x week). It seemed to be the go to drug when he had pneumonia because of his COPD problem. He had taken it many times prior to his death and developed polymyalgia rehumatic and was on steroid's for several months. He was taken to the ER on 10-1-14 and yes they gave him Levaquin again for 10 days and sent him home. He was taken back to the ER on 10-16-14 with kidneys not functioning, couldn't breathe or walk. He passed away on 10-26-14. ## Hello, Judi! How are you doing? I am so very sorry for your loss. I'd be devastated to lost the love of my life, I can't imagine how horrible you must feel. I don't really know how to take pills and I have real bad bacterial infection. So I wanted to know if I was to take a pliva pill vaginally what would happen? ## Hello, Lariyah! How are you? You just swallow them. But no, you shouldn't insert anything vaginally that isn't intended to be used that way. Pliva, however, is the name of a manufacturer, not a medication. Is it an antibiotic? If so, you need to swallow them orally, so they can work systemically. Is there anything in horse chestnut that can also be found in penicilli? ## Hello, Joan! How are you? No, Penicillin is actually derived from mold. It's classified by the FDA as an antibiotic and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, horse chestnut is just classified as a supplement and other than being known to cause some blood thinning, it has no actual proven therapeutic use. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, I have a question. I recently went to see my doctor for a bladder infection and was prescribed Bactrim Ds 800-160 tab but wasn't prescribed any pain meds to relieve me of the pain and pressure this is causing me. Not getting any sleep at night. ## Hello, Bessie318! How are you? There are actually several products available over the counter that can treat the pain of UTIs, as long as your doctor says it is safe for you to take one. The most common one used is Azo. It contains Phenazopyridine, which is the same as what doctors prescribe. The FDA lists its possible side effects as including nausea, headache and discolored urine. The side effects for Bactrim may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Do it help for a toothache cause im in alot of pain here lord help me ## Hello, Bella! How are you doing? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. This is a generic for an antibiotic called Bactrim that's manufactured by Aurobido Pharma. The FDA lists it as being used to treat or prevent bacterial infections and its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. That said, it will not do anything to relieve pain. The only way it can do that is by starting to work to eradicate the infection and it would take several days for it to do that. Have you consulted your dentist? You are going to need to have the underlying cause treated, to prevent the infection from recurring over and over.

I took a 500 mg pill around noon (levofioxacin). At 5:30p.m. I got EXTREMELY COLD. was shaking from the feet to the tips of my fingers. Had a hard time catching my breath due to the shaking. I went to bed & turned on my electric blanket as high as it would go. I shook for 30 minutes from head to toe. Once the blanket started to warm me the shaking slowly got better My feet were burning & tingling. I braced my self so hard because of the shaking my hips & shoulders are very sore. It's now 4 hour's since this started & I feel shakey & nervous. Going to call my doctor tomorrow & tell her I'm not taking anymore of this medication. I was prescribed doxycycline for syphilis. I've been taking it for a little over a week. The sores in my mouth are gone and my urine isn't dark anymore. A few days ago I started noticing my shoulder and neck are stiff and sore. Then my vagina started to itch. The next day I had discarge and I kept thinking there was hair in my mouth and my tongue was turning white. Apparently its called hair tongue? I woke up this morning and I have a canker sore on the inside of my cheek and on the inside corner of my mouth. My Dr said that when I take the antibiotics my symptoms may get worse for a while but that's normal. Is that what's happening? BC I googled my symptoms and it came up side effects of antibiotics. I want to know if I'm having an allergic reaction. Help!!! ## Hell...

I have a severe tooth infection since a week. The tooth which is the source of the infection got removed today. My concern is about how to take the leftovers of my antibiotics because I have likely made a mistake in taking it. Here is the story, sorry it's a bit complicated but I hope you understand: Background: Unfortunately I had 3 different dentists due to traveling in Thailand. 04/04/2015 the first dentist gave me Amoxi 500 for 3 times a day every 8h. 11/04. the package was finished, the inflammation of my teeth didn't get much better. I have visited another doctor for removing the bad tooth. He said the former antibiotics were too weak and gave me Augmentin 1g for 2x daily every 12h. So far so good. But I didn't trust this dentist much since first he wanted to pull my t...

I am trying to find out if it is ok to take norco with nitrofurantoin mcr 100 mg. Are there any dangers of mixing the two? ## Hello, Alex! How are you? I didn't find any interactions or problems listed between the two, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. But these are commonly prescribed together, to treat the possible pain an infection may cause, until the antibiotic can clear it up. The FDA classifies Norco as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help ...

I'm 20. I went to the clinic because I had developed a rash on the inner lips of the vulva, causing painful urination and blood after urination. They said it was an sti and I told them I had the painful urination and the blood after urination long before I became sexually active.. they gave me doxytet.. what I wanna know is.. do I really have an sti or is it another infection, because the last 2 symptoms I've had since I was 13. ## Hi there - sorry to hear about your challenges. It sounds like they prescribed you the doxytet to treat a broad spectrum of possible infections, whether sexually transmitted or not. The symptoms which you are describing, especially blood after urinating, are pretty acute, and I think you should go for a second opinion and ask for them to run further t...

I would like to know how long after the experation date, does the amoxicillin remain potent and effective ? And when dose amoxicillin become totally ineffective > ## It's really difficult to get a precise answer on this, because it can really be dependent upon storage conditions. For instance, if they were left in the original factory sealed bottle, they're usually actually good for about 3 years. However, once that bottle is opened, so they are exposed to heat, light and moisture, the degradation starts and how fast they degrade and lose potency depends on how much of the elements they are exposed to. If you keep them in a cool, dry, dark place then they'll last longer than if you keep them in your bathroom medicine chest, which is a warm, damp environment. Learn more A...
