Woke up on Thursday and within about 1 hour I started having a significant amount of blood in my urine. I immediately made an appointment with a clinic close by. The Dr. diagnosed me and agreed that it was a UTI. He then prescribed medication (2 a day for 3 days).... Along with AZO for pain 3 times a day. Thursday afternoon I was comfortable but now I am VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. I HAD TROUBLE SLEEPING LAST NIGHT BUT WAS NOT IN PAIN. What would you suggest? I have taken 3 of the 6 pills prescribed. Also urinating more frequently. Could you pls let me know something? I had a severe UTI 2 1/3 - 3 months ago and did not have this problem.

Hello, Dotty! How are you?

The general rule with antibiotics is that if they are working, you shouldn't see any worsening of your condition, after being on them for a full 24 hours and you should start to see improvement after being on them for a full 3 days.

The FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

What medication did he prescribe?

You may need to go back and speak to them about trying something else or having a longer course of it prescribed.
