The only way it will help with a fever is if the fever is caused by an infection and, even then, it will take several days to have an effect. Would this work for a cyst on my vagina? My husband had a large clot in his lung. He ran a fever the whole time, was on antibiotics, Was given clot busting meds. He still has a low grade fever, cough. I was given levaquin 500 mg for liking pneumonia took 7 of the 10 pills when my real doctor returned. He called and suggested I come in, he performed tests said pneumonia was gone. I felt better with the pneumonia than now two weeks off levaquin. Feel weak, diarrhea calf pain .. Terrible drug. Worked but side effects I would of rather had something else. ## Hello, Greg! I noticed a small lump behind my left ear Sunday. ByThursday, it was large, red, and very painful. My earlobe was swollen as well. Then I noticed the tenderness starting down the left side of my neck. I saw my Dr. yesterday and was diagnosed with cellulitis. She gave me Bactrim 800-160 twice daily. I took my two doses yesterday. When I woke this morning, my earlobe looks like it's gonna pop, the lump is no smaller and instead of just tenderness in the neck, there's swelling between the jaw and earlobe. At that age, it is dosed according to weight, which for an ear infection is 30mgs per kg per day, so that would be 2,100mgs a day. Usually, it's recommended not to exceed 1,000mgs a dose, but if this is 600mgs per teaspoon, that is likely the closest they can get, without under dosing him, since they have to be sure the infection is eradicated.
