In the US I am prescribed Xifaxan 550mg made by Salix Pharmaceuticals twice daily to prevent hepatic encephalitis (very dangerous disorder caused by liver disease). The problem is this drug costs $1,800 USD per month, which I cannot afford. However, through reputable Canadian pharmacies carry Rifaximin 550 mg made by Lupin Limited of Idia for only $130 USD per month. My best research seems to indicate that these are the exact same drug but that Lupin licensed the US sales and marketing rights to Salix, thus the dramatic price differential.
