My doctor said I could just stop so I did. Now I can't sleep, can't get comfortable, running nose, watery eyes, sneezing and cold shakes. An "Emergency" doctor told me I needed to be weened by 1 mg per week. ## Yes, if someone has been taking a steroid like this for more than 21 days, they should be tapered off of it to prevent complications, such as adrenal fatigue, according to FDA warnings. Why have you been taking it for so long? Are you on any other medications? ## I am taking the Prednisone, Tramadol, Meloxicam and Cyclobenzyprine. I have arheritis, degenerative disc disease, narrowing of the canals, spurs and a herneated disc, all within the first 5 discs in...
I am interested in hearing about any bad experiences with the prednisone. My husband has been taking it for 1 year. He started on 50mg and has been trying to taper all year but in the past his disease has flared up as the dose got lower and so it was increased again. This time he has been luck and got down to 10mg and then began losing his mind. In the last couple of weeks he has had panic attacks, mood swings, brain fades (moments of complete blankness where he is unable to talk/move or anything, inability to speak, dis inhibited behaviour and peculiar behaviour where he will simply repeats words over and over. His specialist says that it's the prednisone withdrawal and this will all improve as he tapers (he is down to 5mg now). He can't work or socialise which is so sad for ou...
I have been taking Prednison prescribed by my doctor for Gout.4 tablets ever day for 7days 20mg thats 80 mg a day. can that cause your blood suger to go up to 500? started lowering my dose to ween me of the Prednison slowly ## Hello, David! How are you? Yes, the FDA classifies Prednisone as a steroid and they are known to cause that in some people that take them, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, insomnia, acne and weight gain. What medication are you on for your blood sugar? ## May I ask how did you learn of the BS of 500 ? Was it yoUR value? Was it taken because of your doctor's order? That is a very high value and should be treated/monitored carefully!!!! If that was YOUR sugar level, be sure to talk with your doctor as soon as possible!

My sister dropped a bottle of prednisone 5mg, she counted the pill and believes there are 2 pills missing, but is not sure. My 2-year-old was near her and we don't know if she swallowed one or not. What can I give her to ensure safety? ## Hello, Kelly! How is your daughter? Did she experience any adverse effects? Any time you are concerned about the health, welfare and life of a child, you should consult emergency services. Taking too much of this medication could result in overdose conditions, according to FDA reports, which might include elevated blood pressure, and heart rate, either of which could cause possibly fatal issues.
My mother has a bad sciatic nerve which causes her pain quite frequently. This morning, she was looking for her Diclofenac and couldn't find it, so she took the last two Aleve and laid down. I found them for her, but now we're unsure if she can take one so soon after taking Aleve. It's been about 20 minutes since she took them. Is it alright for her to take her Diclofenac? ## No, these are both non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, so that would essentially be doubling up and she should not do so, without her doctor's approval. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased risk of bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been taking Sulfasalazine for 3 weeks (500 mg 4x daily). The side effects are very wearing: nausea, low energy, sleepiness, general feeling of blahhhhhh. I make sure to eat before taking the pills, and I drink at least 8 oz of water with the pills. Any suggestions on how to minimize these side effects? I'm hoping my body will adjust in time. Any thoughts - anyone??? ## Unfortunately, there really isn't much you can do to prevent them, but yes, they should taper off and eventually go away entirely, once your body gets used to the medication, according to FDA reports. Generally that takes anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks. You may also experience fever, chills, dark urine, nosebleeds, and pale skin. Has there been any change or improvement, yet? ## Has anyone had any success usi...

I have been prescribed diclofenac gel and was wondering if there are any side effects. I was given this as oral nsaids are very hard on my stomach. Also, is this beneficial for a condition called Trigger finger? ## It can cause the same side effects as other NSAIDs, however, since it is topical, your body doesn't tend to absorb as much of it, so this prevents these problems for most people. It can generally help with any condition involving pain and inflammation, however, as with any drug, it doesn't work for everyone. As with any medication, the only thing you can really do is try it and see if it helps. ## If there's anything else I can help you with, please let me know. ## To Verwon, Thank you for the input. So far the diclofenac gel seems to help with the inflammation an...

Until Dec 2016 I have been taking Arthrotec for years and never had a problem. Walmart will not take my plan D Envision RX Plus and so I switched to Walgreens which will. I am allergic to sulfa, sulfite, etc. and when I got Walgreens Arthrotec I got sick and had a blood clot. I ended up on Coumadin for probably the rest of my life and the doctor does not want me to take Arthrotec. Does Walgreens get their Arthrotec from Canada or some place that has a filler with sulfa? Arthrotec has worked for the pain of osteoarthritis and I do not want to have to go in the hospital again or give up the Arthrotec. They have told me to use Tylenol but it is useless. ## Hello Barb, I realize it's been one month since you asked this question and I don't have a direct answer for you. What I will s...
Why is diclofenac 50 mg in tablet form while diclofenac 75 mg is in capsule form? ## No specific reason, it is up to the manufacturer and the way they formulate their medication. The NIH lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?
A few years ago I started to get arthritis pains in my hands late at night, in colder weather/water and after using them a lot. I was told by my grandma I probably have it because it runs in both sides of the family. I took naproxen once and broke out in hives/skin rash on my arms. I no longer take it but I can take Advil with no problems whatsoever. All doctors are very confused by this as they are apart of the same family. I'm confused too. Is there a reason why I can take one but have allergic reactions to the other? ## That is always possible, since no medication is exactly the same as another, when it comes right down to the actual base chemicals. For example, I can take most antibiotics without a problem, but had a bad allergic reaction to Bactrim. It really isn't always t...
