I was on amoxicillin for 12 days and then I took my last dose in the morning before I went to take a routine blood work and the Dr got the results on Wednesday and he said my enzymes were high in my liver which totally alarmed me. He sent me in for an ultrasound and everything looked normal! Can this antibiotic cause high liver enzymes? And how long does this antibiotic remain in your system? My doctor said some people may not be allergic to the amoxicillin but to the capsule it is put in, as these are made cheap with added 'E; numbers. I had swollen lips and tonge, short of breath when I took them and thought I was allergic to penicillin, after what my doctor said, I tried amoxicillin again, I took it out of the capsules and added the powder to a drop of fruit juice and guess what I had no reaction whatsoever to amoxicillin. Why dont they use veggie capsules, instead of these cheap capsules with toxic 'E' numbers added to them? ## When you experienced these side effects, did you go back to the doctor? I have a infection under an old root canal. Dentist sent me to Endo who opened the tooth redid the root canal packed it and gave my amoxicillin 500x3 day. Pain the next day was so bad I went back to Endo and he took out the packing to let it drain. Went back two days later and he repacked the tooth. The packing fell out the same day and I had to leave the country for two weeks. I am scheduled to see a Endo when I get back to fill the root canal, I am now a week in and in Mexico and can’t bite without severe pain. My wife most likely had used these recently. Hi. I was given a prescription for cephalexin 500mg for 3x a day after having two teeth extracted. The second day of the dose my throat felt tight and also as if there was a lump or something stuck in my throat as well as a difficulty swallowing food. I stopped taking the cephalexin and the next day the feeling went away. My dentist prescribed me amoxicillin 500mg instead. My questions are, were my symptoms with the cephalexin a type of anaphylactic shock and could I be allergic to cephalexin? My second question is, is amoxicillin similar to cephalexin and could it cause a similar reaction? A friend (nurse) gave me amoxicillin I think... It was green on one side and white on the other with no writing or numbers on it. Was it really amoxicillin? ## Probably not, all manufactured prescription medications in the U.S. are required to have unique markings to enable their identification. The only exceptions would be for medications specially made by a compounding pharmacy, and they usually use clear, unmarked capsules. Markings are required under U.S. FDA law. Hi My daughter has 2 bottle of amoxicillin in the refrigerator. Never used but already mixed. The pink one. The expiration date in the bottle says January 2018. Will it still be good to use? The actual date mixed was July 18 2016 ## In my opinion it should be perfectly fine to take. I say this because I would personally feel comfortable taking it based on the info you provided. Depending on storage conditions many prescriptions can reportedly last up to 40 years after the listed expiration date (with few exceptions such as tetracycline).
