Are Amlodipine Amlovasc the same as Amlodipine besylate? ## Yes, Amlovasc is just a brand name for Amlodipine, so Amlodipine is the generic and is usually cheaper to purchase. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I live in South Africa and do not know if this will be of any help. I use Amloc, 5mg. Amloc is amlodipine maleate, which does not cause any swelling. Previously I was on amlodipine besylate which caused me to swell up like I was trying to outdo an elephant. My neighbor experienced the same - besylate causes swelling, maleate does not. Both are amlodipine, only different components of it.

I noticed my husband cant have sex because he can't have an erection because he is taking Losartan 100mg and Amolodipine bysilate 10mg and he is also taking another one but I am not sure of the name. With this medication for high blood pressure, is it possible that he can take a lower dosage in his medication, so he is able to perform in bed? Would that help him if he takes a lower dosage? Please help, he is really upset about this. I have never seen him so sad and disappointed. He said he does not feel like a man anymore. ## Yes, that can be a typical side effect of most blood pressure and cardiac medications, according to the FDA. He may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. In this case, I think the best thing to do would be for him to...

I have been taking amlodenk 10mg for a month now and I have started experiencing swelling on my ankles. Is it possible that I am experiencing side effect of this drug? ## Amlo-Denk contains the active ingredient Amlodipine. From what I could gather, "swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs" is listed as a general side effect of this medication. Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a692044.html#side-effects To my understanding, these types of side effects may not go away until you stop taking what's causing them to manifest in the first place. For that reason I'd strongly recommend contacting your doctor as soon as your able to, in hopes of finding a safer alternative to Amlodipine. Have you had this reaction with any other blood pressure medications in t...

I am 60 years old. I have replaced amlodipine 5 mg with Telma 40 three months ago. Since then for the first time in my life my blood sugar has gradually increased up to 115 on fasting. It was always below 100. Can you advise me whether it is the side effect of Telma 40 or not? ## It is very doubtful, 115 is not usually a concerning number that causes a diagnosis of diabetes. The NIH lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Have you shown any other symptoms of diabetes? What has your doctor advised? Usually blood sugars from 80 to 120 are considered normal.

I have swelling in my ankles and legs, feel unbelievably tired and my skin is hot yet I shiver as you do with a sunburn. My Dr. has changed my med at my request, but I would like to know how long it may take for the swelling to go down? ## What medication did they put you on, now? I'm sorry, but it is hard to provide you with accurate information, without knowing more specifics. Can you please post back and clarify? Depending on the new medication, it could take a couple weeks to a month, or more, since most medications in this class can cause these symptoms as side effects, according to the FDA. However, things may be different if they gave you a medication that helps remove the fluid that is causing the edema. ## My Dr switched me to METOPROLOL 25 MG per day. It brought my bp down...

My husband takes the blue generic version of amlodipine/benazepril. When the pharmacy filled it again they shipped Dr. Reddy's brand of 5/20 amlodipine/benazepril and when he started it he had chest pains and anxiety. Could this be be due to the change to Dr Reddy's brand? ## Hello, Melody! How is he doing, now? Has there been any change? Yes, as permitted by the Hatch Waxman Act of 1984, there can be differences between generic medications. But what are the markings on the pills he's received? This information would help me look into more details on it for you. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.

Can I take norco for my fibromyalgia pain along with my blood pressure med (amlodipine besylate 10mg)? ## I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between these medications, though it is always best to double check to be sure. However, I can also tell you that pain is more dangerous for your blood pressure, than taking a medication to ease it. The FDA does warn that Norco carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Are you on any other medications?
