I have acute and ongoing rhinitis. I was on Flucatizone, but now I have an irritated, burning and bleeding nose. Will Deselex help for my chronically blocked nose? I use Afrin, but find it is a bit harsh to use frequently. ## Hi Rita, Sorry to hear about the ongoing symptoms you're having. From what I could gather, Deselex (Desloratadine) is an antihistamine used for treating or preventing allergy symptoms, such as sneezing or a runny/stuffy nose, etc. Apparently it works by blocking histamine, the substance in the body that is known for causing these allergic symptoms. So it would seem to me that you have the right medication. Is this something your doctor recommended? ## No it was not recommend by my doctor. I was just wondering if it could be an alternative for the Flucatizone wh...

I have tussionex ext rel sus cell thats 6 years old. is it ok to take ? ## Hello, Fred! How are you? No, liquids have very short life spans, they tend to degrade very fast. Many even go rancid and could make you sick, so a 6 year old one isn't safe to take. If you need this medication, you should see your doctor for a new prescription. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I took 6-year-old Tussionex Pennkinetic Susp and it worked the same as when it was new.

What are the side effects of zyncet tablet on a one month old pregnant mother? ## Zyncet contains the activ ingredient Cetirizine, it is an antihistamine that is used to treat allergies and, sometimes, nausea and vomiting. The FDA lists this medication under pregnancy category B, which means they have not found it to cause any harm to the unborn baby, when a mother uses it. Common side effects may include: drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Our Ped told us we could give our 11 month old (22lbs) 1tsp of Childrens Benadryl to help with her runny nose and cough. I grabbed the Allergy and Sinus one not thinking and now I'm wondering if that's still okay to give to her? ## @Rheiannon, According to the manufacturer, Children's Benadryl should not be given to children under 1 year of age for treating allergies. Reason they say this though is because it causes most babies to be too sleepy. Also for a child weighing 20-24 lbs they recommend 3/4 of a tsp. Personally I don't see a quarter of a tsp having THAT much more of an effect overall on the tiredness of the baby. But then again, everyone responds differently to these meds. However I wouldn't be overly concerned about giving this to your child since yours see...

Why did the manufacturers change the formulary of Dimetapp Elixer about 15-17 years ago? ## I looked around online and couldn't find any specific details stating what the old formula contained. Do you happen to have any information on the what the ingredients used to be prior to the change? According to the manufacturer (Pfizer) the current formula contains: Brompheniramine Maleate 2mg + Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 5mg + Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 10mg But maybe if you contacted them directly they'd have more background info on previous formulas. Their customer service hotline can be reached at: 800-762-4672 or 800-762-4675, Monday thru Friday between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm EST. I hope this helps!

I found a round white tablet with the imprint 244 on it. I believe it may be a Phenylpropanolamine 50mg tablet, but I can not seem to find an image of it any where to be certain. I have tried many different pill identification websites, with no help. The only information that I have been able to find is on this website, but it stated that this was a chewable tablet. The pill that I found is not a chewable tablet. I know that this medication comes in both chewable and regular tablet versions. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. If possible, I would love a reference to an image for this medication so that I can compare it to the pill that I have found. ## With the imprint being only "244" on a white pill, the closest possible match I've come across is Carvedi...

Hi, I am 37 years old male. I took 120 mg of pseudoephrine every 12 hours for 4 days only to treat nasal congestion. I felt a complete erectile dysfunction for the first time in my life from the second day. I was in panic and I stopped the drug the forth day fearing that it might cause long time ED. I would like to ask whether it is only temporary ED as a side effect of the drug? Thank you.

Does Iophen-C NR have aspirin in it? I take 20mg of Xarelto and cannot take any meds with aspirin. ## Hello, Don! How are you? No, this medication does not contain any Aspirin. The active ingredients are Guaifenesin and Codeine, it is a narcotic cough suppressant. This medication has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. So, you should be able to take it, as long as your doctor approves. Is there anything else I can help with?

Why is it so hard to find 60 mg fexofenadine on shelves anywhere. The only thing I can find generic or otherwise is 180 mg, 24 hour. ## Hello, SJW! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. I'm sorry, but I'm not exactly sure why you can't find it, since it is an over the counter product, shortages are not required to be reported. Have you tried asking your pharmacist? They may know more. This is a generic for Allegra, which is used to treat allergies and which may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and drowsiness. It could even be that the 60mg dosage just doesn't sell as much as the other, so it may not be viable for most stores to keep it in stock.

pls help me to explain to my pharmacist that the pill I took made by amneal and prescribed for me to relieve nausea works and the medication he sold me made by other manufacturers is not the same medication and is worthless. He told me in words that suggest that im not mentally well that these drugs are identical. They are not. ## Hello, Jdypat! How are you? It is the same medication, but there can be slight fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient, so if this one is slightly lower, it might not work as well for you. The FDA does allow them to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% of the active ingredient. That's really a small fluctuation window, in many cases less than a milligram, and it doesn't cause a problem for most people, but sometimes pe...

Does anybody know of a doctor or doctors that are writing prescriptions of Dextromethorphan ## Does anybody know of doctors prescribing Dextromethorphan for chronic pain ## Hello, Ken! How are you? At this time, it is being investigated for treating pain, but it hasn't been approved for it, yet. It is, however, available over the counter in some products as cold remedies. If you want it prescribed by a doctor for pain, you may need to see a specialist that knows specifics of pain management and how/why it can help. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone? What is your general location? That information might enable someone to recommend a good doctor in your area. Dextromethorphan is most commonly used to relieve coughing and it may cause side effects, such a naus...

little gel blue pill, hard liquid, but still a gel pill, what is it? with A99 on one side. ## This is an over the counter sleep-aid that contains 50mgs of Diphenhydramine. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and dizziness. Learn more: Are there any questions or comments? ## WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THIS DRUG IS MIXED WITH ALCOHOL? Any other dangerous side effects? Thanks ## @Very concerned You die. ## I take this with Alcohol once or twice a week. You don't die. Diphenhydramine is Benadryl. It is used as a sleep aid as well, and Alcohol will amplify the effects of it. While taking the recommended dose (25-50mg), you'll just get buzzed quicker and fall asleep faster. ## It's not good for your liver to drink on them

Where can I get help finding Tussionex brand name in Houston, TX. Medicaid will only pay for the brand name not the generic. I've been trying to find the maker on google for assistance but cant find them any where. ## Hi Adrianne, The FDA notes that Tussionex is manufactured "for" a company called UCB Manufacturing Inc.; who is reportedly based in Smyrna, GA 30080. And from what I can tell, they may end up distributing it from there. However I can't seem to locate any other specific details mentioning who actually makes it. Perhaps UCB Inc. would be able to give you more inside information on who they receive it from at: ucb-usa.com/UCBCares; as well as the availability of patient assistance programs through the manufacturing company. Hope this info helps!

I have been having fluid in my ears since May and have take three bottles of nasial spray 2 different antibodics and 2 boxes of mucinex d and my dr order ct scan. The results says i have a thickening of the mastoid bone. What is the treatment for this and will my ears ever clear up? ## Hello, Mert! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you'r having. Such thickening is common, when someone experiences a problem that becomes chronic, like yours has. It means it has become inflamed and you may need to have a tube inserted in your ear to allow the fluid to drain. Letting it remain untreated can create the risk of nerve damage that could cause facial paralysis, meningitis and other serious health complications. Have you consulted an ENT, yet? With proper treatment, your ears ...

my son had shortness of breathe and I was wondering if taking 2 (25mg each) of benadryl as a sleep aide with his prescribed methadone (70mg) per day could be the cause?? ## You son needs to consult his doctor to have this checked out and be certain of the cause. While it may have been due to taking the Benadryl with the Methadone, since they both cause depression of the central nervous system, there is also a chance that it may have been due to an unrelated health issue. Is there anything else I can help with? ## There could very well be an underlying cause as to why your son had or has shortness of breath. However, you must be cautious about giving someone anything containing alcohol or small dosages codeine. Those will have an affect on anyone's breathing while taking a strong nar...
