My 5yr old was prescribed calvepen 250mg for tonsilitis. The 7 days are up and it has cleared up,no further temps. He now has a bad cough, does Calvepen work for chest infections or will he need a different antib? ## It would be best to consult his doctor, because after one course of treatment, he may have built up some resistance to this one and might need to use a different antibiotic this time. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been disappointed to find that Drixoral has become almost impossible to get, as the company has stopped shipping it to pharmacies. My Doctor suggested I take this once easily obtainable allergy remedy years ago,and it is the ONLY thing that has proven effective in eliminating my symptoms. I called Shering Plough, Drixoral's manufacturer and was told that there will be a temporary cease in the manufacture of this drug for one year, while it's place of manufacture is being changed. ## Adrienne, So are you saying that Drixoral is not actually discontinued, just a temporary hold on manufacturing? If that's the case then I know that there will be a lot of happy people... ## I am extremely pleased that Drixoral is not being discontinued, I also have never found any other me...

I had a stockpile of Drixoral because I live in South America and it is not (nor has it ever been) available here, but it finally ran out. I have tried many things which either do not help at all or not as well as Drixoral. However, I have recently tried Claritin-D 24 which seems to help me just as much as Drixoral did. However, there is one side-effect of this product which I cannot live with: 1 pill keeps me awake for 24 hours. Now I am going to try the Clalritin-D 12 to see if it will allow me to sleep. Hopefully it will only keep me awake for 12 hours. ## I tried the Claritin 24-hour formula without the Pseudoephedrine, but got no help watsoever. However, after using Claritin-D 12-hour for a week, I am happy to report that I have had good results. Like the 24-hour formula, it caused...

The bottle expired 9/11/2013 - is it still effective for nightime cough relief. ## Hello, Marlene! How are you? According to the FDA, you should just dispose of it. Liquid medications tend to be especially problematic, once expired, because they can go bad and may make you ill, if you take them. It would be best and safest to see your doctor for a new prescription. This is a narcotic cough suppressant, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have sore throat and cough. I have IOPHEN-C NR. It expires 02/09/2016. Can I use it until my appointment?

Hello! I was previously prescribed Cyproheptadine to maintain my weight. I was first prescribed this...I want to say a year ago. I was prescribed the 4 mg tablet and to take one tablet four times a day. I read online that this can cause complications with drug tests and can sometimes result in a false positive because of it. I was curious how long this medication typically stays in your system? It has been over a week since I have taken the med and I also did not take four times a day as prescribed because of side effects. Any information is appreciated. Thanks!

i have a problem of sneezing for a while and i consulted doctor and he told mild synus and i took medication for two months and it was ok till 6 months after that again it started . I want to get rid of this problem and what i should avoid and what habits will make me get rid of this problem. Please someone help. I am from india and currently working in kuwait. ## Hello, Vijay! How are you? There are various issues that could cause this, but the most common one listed by the NIH is nasal allergies and, if that is what's causing you, you'll most likely need to take an antihistamine. Since it took 6 months for it to return, that also leads me to suspect it may be allergies, because that's rather seasonal. What mediation did he have you take for that 2 month period?
