Adderall Backorder (Page 90) (Top voted first)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

The Federal Register recent DEA/FDA "addressing" the issue isn't even plausible anymore.

Thanks for the updated info. I am also in the Philadelphia area and have been filling mine in the hospital pharmacy where I work. They keep shorting me multiple days due to supply which is frustrating. If u get a chance send me a message, would like some advice.

That's good to hear but I would caution you that they might already have that on hand then. I would ask if it was on hand supply and if she'll be able to order more to resupply it when your pharmacy runs out of what they have in stock. What state are you in?

DEA proposes rules to limit telehealth prescriptions for Adderall, Ritalin and painkillers

Since its getting pretty quiet in here I take it folks are starting to get their scripts filled? To my shock & awe I was able to get 30 30mg ir lannett this week at my indie pharmacy. Still no xr available to order.

Allowing prescribing of Schedule II drugs without at least one face to face with the prescriber was temporary due to the pandemic.

Has anyone in Norfolk, Va. been able to fill their Adderall prescriptions? I have not been able to fill mine since December 2022 as every pharmacy in this area says they are still on back order until March, maybe even April!

I am glad you have been able to get your medication. I am hoping that by the time I have to fill in march that I am able to get my original dose which is the same as yours instead of trying to get by on 60 mg a day. I know some people are thinking “he should be grateful for what he has been able to get.” Which I absolutely am I just have also been on this medication for almost 15 years and I have severe adhd so even cutting back a little makes me struggle especially with work. I have been able to just go to work and about an hour before I leave I can feel myself struggling so when I get home I don’t even have the desire to do anything but get in bed. I know there are people who don’t truly need it just selling it or doing god only knows what with it but I wish they could feel how horrible it is to need a medication to basically function and not be able to get it partially because of those very kind of people. I hope everyone going forward is able to get their medicine and I am going to try my best to put a couple away each month in case this happens again end of this year and that is crazy that that is even a thought most of us have to deal with.

Pretty much anyone can sue. Unless a judge finds the suit is frivolous. You will not find an attorney that will take the case. Unless you have the mega bucks to pay for the cost. Attorneys know these suits are a waste of time and money. You can represent yourself. You will need to be able to understand the law. Lay people rarely understand what the laws mean in a court of law.

I was under the impression that most insurance doesn't or won't cover it. Still good to know though, I'm def going to check my pbm. Thank you! Do you happen to know what the brand version is called, or does it have one?

The only thing I've been able to get so far has been Vyvanse, but I can't afford a $200 copay just bc its the only other thing I've been able to find. Last month my doc said patients have reported issues finding Concerta locally as well. Thinking of focalin next but at this point I'm afraid of everything being out of stock. It's never been this bad for this long. :(

Has anyone kept trying an independent pharmacy after they said they weren't taking new Adderall customers? It seems that they just don't want to be bothered with filling Adderall. My doctor won't transfer scripts to more than one store. So if that one doesn't have any, it's back on the merry go round of phone calls. My local Walgreens hasn't had Adderall ir since last November. Pharmacist told me they have received none. I took Mydayis 25 am and Mydayis 12.5 in early afternoon but I had covid and really couldn't tell if they helped. This past month I had my doctor increase to 37.5mg and 12.5mg. but no one has the 37.5 mg. Been waiting a week. So back to the 25, 12.5. My Walgreens doesn't answer the phone but I called 2 other Walgreen stores and they answered right away. Still no Adderall. My doctor doesn't prescribe Dexedrine, so I am running out of options. Tried Focalin. My congressperson couldn't care less. Senators and representative are conservative republicans and I am sure they stand with the DEA. I thought they shut down the online prescribing of stimulants last year.

I haven't tried any independents more than once after they turned me down so no, unfortunately I can't offer any advice on that.

Have you tried asking your doc for paper scripts? I think my doctor prefers it at this point. Everytime I call bc of pharmacy problems she just goes ahead and prints it, they don't even bother trying to call or resend to multiple places. I think they're getting swamped with the shortage patients at this point so its just easier.

The feds didn't stop the telehealth prescribing but the Dea is expected to change it in May. The pharmacy chains were the ones who took action and instituted company wide-policy that they weren't going to fill Adhd scripts from doctors employed with telehealth companies anymore. So the companies said they weren't going to take any "new" adhd patients, but they were continuing to treat their current customers. Now that Truepill (Cerebral's main mail pharmacy) is also in trouble, I'm not sure what they're currently doing. But that was the last I read about it back in December.
