Adderall Backorder (Page 85)
UpdatedI take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?
Re: stephen e (# 1669)
Yes, I understand. It does suck big time....for sure.
Re: Ryelee (# 1667)
I added links, the PDR and others.
I'm not against Rx'ing for the individual's needs. I AM against the DEA using the 40mg a day "guideline" as a criterion to control annual production and distribution. I am 100% in agreement that responsible MDs know what most benefits their patients and IDEALLY the government should stay out of the private affairs of patients seeking therapeutic assistance from licensed medical professionals. DEA limits on production using a 40mg a day arbitrary # is patently ignorant and to a degree cruel. Some People need meds. MDs make that call, not DEA. If they want to curtail abuse then go after the abusers vs punishing the law abiding medically supervised users.
There needs to be wholesale reform as this issue runs very deep. The DEA is using arbitrary caps to curtail manufacture.....the FDA gives ANDA #s for generics and barely EVER does quality control on s****y generics. It's a very f'd situation on many levels, and that's how bureaucracy dysfunctions.
Re: Bill (# 1670)
"Either have it at a fairly consistent basis or ban it outright but don't have patients bending over backwards over trying to get it."
I agree. Totally rational statement!. But this isn't a rational situation. The DEA is a political institution and I'm guessing there is some sort of political pressure behind all this quite sudden "crack down.".

Moderators are supposed to keep threads on track. Open a new one if you want to discuss something else, that's not why most of us are here, I'd wager.
Re: tim (# 1684)
Thank you for sharing what you think Medschat moderators are supposed to do. Actually, you're incorrect. "Community Moderation is the practice of managing comments and discussions from members/users on your platform so it aligns with your **Terms and Conditions and/or Code of Conduct,** usually done by a community moderator or team of moderators. A large part of becoming a good online community moderator is knowing how to strike the balance between controlling conversations to maintain order, contributing to keep conversations fresh, and giving members, employees or customers enough freedom to feel like they can express themselves"
By your own definition, introducing a post about content moderators is "off topic" and perhaps you should open a separate thread about content moderators. Sorry Tim, but you don't get to be the boss of people's opinions. Yes, it's frustrating to feel as though everything from Adderall shortages to people's opinions are not in your control. If it is causing you duress, and nevertheless feel compelled to read the posts, then I assume you are aware that there are professionals who can address the compulsion to act in self-harmful activity. Many would agree that it's more convenient to be a King and make rules and laws that suit you. Uncertainty about differences opinion can be frustrating. If it's creating irritability and hostility in my personal experience, I remember that they're symptoms of Adderall withdrawal or excess. Or being "hangry" or needing an illusion of control. That's sometimes helpful in my experience. I hope you feel better soon!

Re: Rcma (# 1685)
I don't know why you feel the need to project feelings onto me - I'm feeling fine. I'll just be ignoring your posts henceforth, since it feels like you're just trying to pick a fight with everyone. Take care.
Re: Mo (# 1657)
Updating a previous item - for those around the area who are struggling to find Adderall, the Philadelphia area still seems to not be struggling too badly with supply (found my prescribed XR and IR on the first try, anyway).
For the first time in months, however, I'm getting Teva instead of Sandoz IR. The XR is apparently a brand called "Amiel", which I have not had before (fingers crossed, I guess).
Good luck out there, my friends.
Re: tim (# 1687)
I was supposed to go to Philadelphia for a business meeting. My direct flight was cancelled, then they offered me a 2 pm to 8 pm flight with a 4 hr layover instead of less than a 2 hr flight. I'm glad my boss said see if I can get a refund. It's been over a month without it, and seems my focus, motivation is getting worse by the day.....not to mention my mind constantly drifting and falling asleep. I feel physically ill and exhausted. Thank you FAA!!!!
If my flight wasn't canceled, I would have given our new CIO, director, and VP a baaaaad impression of myself.
Re: Rcma (# 1682)
This is a well written take on a crappy and unfortunate situation. It's like a car mechanic determining how much of a dose is proper or is average for a medical patient to have or get for ADHD. Ridiculous at best. Thanks for posting this.
Re: Rcma (# 1683)
RCMA: You are right on target. I think that's why I selected you who seems to know what's up about a few things... can you or anyone on here please share with me how I can create my own thread? I have something I want to post/ask and have no idea how to start it. All I do is reply to others stuff. I've looked over and over and can't find anything that resembles how to start a new post. Thanks.
Re: Jamie (# 1675)
Have you tried Costco for your Adderall? They have it every time I get a script. Try it. AND, they take GoodRx too which sometimes is cheaper than through your insurance. Get the app or go to their site and search your dosage, days worth and plug in your zip and they will give you the closest one to you. If there isn't one near you, they will list other pharmacies that 'should' have it. But, Costsco is a dead ringer for me. I'm near Grand Rapids, MI.
Re: Jeno71 (# 1689)
My doctor won't write over 60 mgs as it's recommended max. Over the years, I gotten plum FAT. I am just not sure 60 mgs have the same effect on me when I was 175 lbs. Now I'm 260 lbs, per size it seems I would need a higher dose. Does body weight affect dose level?
I have multiple scripts ready today. Been on file for months. Teva generics---too bad they don't work. My doctor would freak if I got more than one.
Still waiting on the Mydayis. Hoping it is better.
Re: Jeno71 (# 1690)
JENO71. Thanks for the feedback. Imho...Everyone finds their way to "truth" by living through earth school and a bit of research (since the info out there doesn't always agree with what we personally experience, hehe). Ultimately everyone has their own experience and story to tell. It's all worthwhile and nobody's "different" is more right or wrong. But facts matter as much as viewpoints.

Re: Cyr (# 1693)
You cannot get more than a 30 day prescription filled. Most, if not all states, have limits on how long Schedule II prescriptions are valid. If you get more than one prescription filled. Your doctors and pharmacists will be able to see that in a short time and that will flag you.
Re: Jeno71 (# 1690)
Go to this page (or whatever drug you want to discuss if it isn't Adderall):

Scroll down a bit and click "Start a Discussion".
Yay....after a month, the pharmacist said she had 12.5s, but I'm supposed to have 30s.
My doctor called in some 12.5s for me at least. But of course, I'm out of town at the moment so I can't get them. Lmao I'm sending my sister to pick them up for me.
Re: BlessedLady (# 1695)
Yep, I filled one about 5 days too early, and I got flagged. I was going out of town for awhile and would've ran out. The doctor I was seeing dropped me like a hot potato and would never see me again. It's not like I was abusing them, I was going out of town for a couple of weeks.
Re: Ken (# 1698)
I'm surprised that you found a pharmacy willing to even fill it that early, and that it was your doctor that was most livid about it (especially if you explained it was a one-time occurrence).
In my experience, most pharmacies are open to refilling it up to 2-3 days early without a hassle, but it depends on that pharmacy's policies (and I'd imagine state law). I don't know what would trigger "being flagged" in any capacity... did you struggle to find another doctor or refill your medication in the future?
Re: Ken (# 1697)
Is this a pharmacy in nyc?
What are ppl with Narcolepsy supposed to do? My Dr. has tried to put me on 20s but those are also out. If you have any advice on a pharmacy that seems to have anything in stock, that would be appreciated.
