Adderall Backorder (Page 77)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

Sorry I did not know you were a moderator. I was speaking of dying in a cat 5 hurricane, not suicide. You could start a new comment instead of answering mine if you are speaking to all participants in this thread. Lectures I do not need and I have mentioned before that I have contacted my doctor. CYR - I'm sorry if you are in a perpetually miserable "hypothymic" state, which is how it seems after reading several months of your posts. That said,

1. IMHO replying to a direct message to ME is not moderating, even if said reply states opinions on public forum etiquette. (It's called free speech. Calling opinions moderating is an example of a false equivalence - an argument based on flawed or false reasoning.)

2. "Sarcasm is often misdirected passive-agressive behavior used by angry or depressed people" is another example of an opinion that isn't moderating. Think about it.

3. I wrote "suicidal ideation" -- publicly, casually pondering imminent death during a natural disaster because of bad generic Adderall is IMHO irrational and close enough to the life death preoccupation associated with extreme drug dependency. Look, you made an arguably bizarre statement on a public forum -- you don't get to control how it's received. I'm in FloridaI know all about hurricanes, and Adderall is not a significant determining factor in surviving a level 5. Idk any rational person who would even make such an assumption. Again, it's my reply to a rirect message to me. You don't have to like it; doesn't make it true or false.

4. Your Walmart comment was plainly absurd -- Ok, so your Walmart is slow and has sucky Adderall. That's not a reason for everyone else in the USA to rule out the #3 biggest pharmacy in the USA.

5. You started an unsolicited direct message to me with the complaint that you were incapable of focus.... Proceeded to write a bunch of nonsense ... And now you're defensive about it.

Those of you having to go through this severe Adderall shortage, how long does it take to get it in? I told my pharmacy at Walmart to go ahead and order it for me after calling 10 other pharmacies.. That was last Wednesday on Oct 5th. I'm just wondering how long I might have to wait to get my prescription. This is crazy....why can't they plan for these situations? FDA needs to lighten up a bit on the production of controlled medications.

I take 30s and they have ran out of everything now the pharmaceutical company had a shortage of people and product so they're on backorder everywhere, out of 15 years this never had never happened but yep I haven't been able to get any because they ran out of all the milligrams within the first week of people having to switch. I'm in Indiana

Why some (like me) may get anxious when they have difficulty obtaining a generic Adderall that works -- comorbid disorders.

1. PTSD
2. Persistent depressive disorder
3. Generalized anxiety disorder
4. Personality disorder (non specified)
5. And of course ADHD.

It costs nothing to be kind rather than judgmental.

We are just trying to get back to where we were before this shortage occurred.

The truth will eventually come out about this cover up. Something is VERY amiss. C'mon... Suddenly Sandoz, Lannett, and all the other manufacturers can't up their production. Bull. They're asking us to believe 2+2=6.

The FDA put a cap on the amount on controlled substances they can manufacture. I don't know what it is. Say all companies have a max of one million Adderall pills they can manufacture. If teva only did 10,000 out of one million pills and the other company already did their one million pills. The FDA prevents that other company from making any more pills to cover the slack. It's really dumb, I know. Just like if the demand from prescriptions calls for 2.1 million pills, some people with legitimate prescriptions are going to get screwed because the FDA prevents the two companies from making the additional 100k pills. They are just trying to control all the controlled substances.

List of Products Affected: Drug Shortage Detail - Amphetamine Mixed Salts

Estimated Resupply Dates:
Teva has amphetamine mixed salts in 10 mg, 20 mg, and 30 mg tablets on backorder and the company estimates a release date in early-October 2022. The 15 mg tablets are on back order and the company estimates a release date in early-to mid-November 2022.

Sandoz has amphetamine mixed salts in 10 mg and 30 mg tablets on back order and the company cannot estimate a release date.

Rhodes has amphetamine mixed salts in 5 mg and 15 mg tablets on back order and the company cannot estimate a release date. The 10 mg, 20 mg, and 30 mg tablets are in limited supply.

"Experts suggest you choose a substitute carefully because the effects of these medications can vary widely.

For example, "generics can sometimes be less bioavailable [how much of the drug is absorbed into the bloodstream], and that can make it harder to get an exact dose match between medications," explained Dr. Eric Hollander, director of the Autism and Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Program at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City.

"If the dose is too high, sometimes kids can get more withdrawn or weepy. If it's too low, they can't get adequate control of their symptoms during the day, and they can get a rebound later in the day. The new medicine may wear off faster. It's also not easy to switch from extended-release formulas to immediate-release," Hollander said.

The driving force behind the shortage is a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) policy that sets limits on the manufacturing of ADHD drugs, to limit the supply of these drugs to people who might use them illegally, according to a report by The New York Times. In some cases, drug companies manufacture both generic versions of ADHD drugs as well as the more expensive, branded versions, which can limit choices even further.

"This is the unfortunate result of well-intentioned policies combined with free market forces. It's a very substantial issue, and one that's affecting some families more than others," said Dr. Andrew Adesman, chief of developmental and behavioral pediatrics at the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York in New Hyde Park.

Whatever the reason behind the shortage, several drug companies that produce amphetamine products, including Adderall, have reported shortages to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. And, companies producing various forms of methylphenidate are also seeing shortages.

Both Hollander and Adesman said they've had reports from parents that Adderall and its generic equivalent have been harder to get. They both suggest that parents call from pharmacy to pharmacy in their area to see which one might carry the needed medication."

I’m in central FLA and have been through several shortages and B/O over the last 8 years but never have I ever experienced one this bad! I use Walgreens and I haven’t been able to refill now since 10/2! I’ve called 20 different stores and nothing. The other issue is with these new electronic scripts I can’t shop around to other pharmacies like Walmart, Publix, or smaller mom & pop pharmacies bc my script is electronic and they always say they can’t tell me over the phone and my doc would have to call. However my doctor isn’t calling 1 much less 10 different pharmacies to find out if they have them in stock for me! So I’m just stuck with waiting on Walgreens to hopefully one day get some supply in. This is ridiculous.

Yes! I’m in Central Fla and it’s been 2 weeks since i was due for my refill, and I’ve called 20 Walgreens and none have had it nor can say when they will get it. I tried calling a few other pharmacies like Walmart and Publix but they won’t tell me over the phone if they have it in stock since I no longer have paper prescriptions. With the new electronic scripts it’s nearly impossible to shop around to other pharmacies. This is beyond frustrating

The basic idea is they want us to stop taking them. Again. They do this every ten years. This is nothing new with this drug, welcome to the drought of 2022. Worse than 1998.

Yep south Florida here. Been on adder. for 8 years and never seen anything like this. Going on 9 weeks since Walgreens has had my script with no fill. For the last month or so when I call for any update they are very nasty and rude on the phone and treat you as though you have called them 10 times daily for the last month asking same question. I could care less how many calls you are getting daily from your adderall patients all asking the same thing. Too bad u don’t like that part of your job then find a new one. Are people like me who have been out of a medicine for months, one necessary to function normal supposed to feel sorry for calling every few days because we are freaking out going so long without our meds?? It’s ridiculous

I called my doctor and told him what was going on and asked him to write my prescriptions as hard copies and went and picked them up. I have issue with Walgreen's because they always treat me poorly (like I am a drug addict). They have never carried through and gotten the Adderall for me. I got a partial fill from a client who is a pharmacist that works for Walgreens but even then I felt as if I were doing a drug deal. While I was gone to Arkansas my husband went to my pharmacy to get medication for my son and the pharmacist told him she could get mine again. The last time I got them there was end of June. So from July to September I was unable to get any medication. I did get mine at my small pharmacy and they were not old and they had them. I am afraid to hold my breath for next refill. Good luck everyone ..
