Adderall Backorder (Page 25) (Top voted first)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

The plot thickens. Finally some investigative reporting that isn't just press releases from lying FDA spokespersons and pharmacies. Interesting that TODAY my pharmacist said they are told MAY will see normalization of supply... Why May I wondered? Well ... that's when Telehealth ENDS and in person appointments are mandatory. This is such an egregious and disorganized overreach by big government, undermining the integrity of doctors and mental health of patients, Their job performances, school grades, chronic fatigue and narcolepsy. The DEA needs an independent inspector general because this is idiotic:. Make a COVID policy allowing Telehealth. Then penalizing everyone and creating national mayhem.

The Drug Enforcement Administration last Friday moved to require doctors to evaluate patients in person before writing prescriptions for controlled medications including Adderall and OxyContin when the public health emergency ends in May.

It's the agency's latest move to curb virtual overprescribing of controlled substances, which DEA administrator Anne Milgram said in a statement will widen access "while ensuring the safety of patients."

The DEA didn't respond to a request for comment about criticisms of the policy in time for publication.
How it works: After a six-month grace period, the rules would halt a patient's ability to receive some controlled substances via telehealth if the patient has never been seen in person.

Let me know how it goes for your refil. I hope you are able to get your medicine! I know for me, it is so damn nerve wracking the few days leading up to my next prescription. Once I get something filled I can relax but the same thing happens every month. My next due date is march 17. So on the 16 I have to call around and try to find a pharmacy that has anything and once that happens I then have to call my doctor and ask her to put in my refil before leaving for that Thursday because she’s not in on Friday due to saint Patricks day, so if I don’t time this right or if I don’t find anything before Thursday early afternoon I’ll be screwed until at least Monday. I know other people are so much worse off and I am a grateful for having something and yes I am trying to save some to get my through just in case but my symptoms are so severe that if I don’t take my dose I literally can’t get out of bed and I’m so depressed and angry. Once this gets back to normal flow if it does (I hear in may?) I’m going to stock pile as much as I possibly can for when this happens again. Best of luck filling tomorrow please keep me posted!

Things are still smooth it seems if your pharmacy has a distributor that normally gets Sandoz, but my doctor mentioned things are getting worse for his other patients.

I feel lucky, but I'm dreading my next refill. Good luck out there, guys. Hopefully the increased attention leads to a resolution.

@Mauricio How long before your next Adderall fill is determined by what state you live in and what insurance you have. The federal rule is you can fill a non opioid schedule II prescription 5 days before your run out. So that would be day 25. States then have their own rules which are usually less and usually 2 or 3 days before you run out. And insurance companies also may restrict as to when they will cover the refill. Usually 2 days before in my experience. You can inquire whenever you want. But many pharmacies do not like to give out information due to possible drug seeking behavior. Last thing they want is to get robbed or something. Pharmacies are not allowed to give out the medication earlier than what the doctor instructs on the script. So even if your insurance and state allow a refill on the 27th after your last fill. If your doctor puts the date when to fill as the 30th day, there is nothing the pharmacist can do.

One thing to add is that sometimes individual pharmacies have policies regarding this as well. For instance, even though I know for a fact my insurance and state allow refill on the 27th day, I know certain chains (like Walgreens and Walmart) won't fill until the 28th day regardless.

The last paragraph is public relations spokesperson vague boilerplate from the FDA because several manufacturers are saying outright that the DEA won't allow them to up their production (sandoz). Manufacturers that are "blaming" increased demand for the shortages are also saying "it's the DEA" (in backwards speak, ie if the issue is increased demand then their annual production limits aren't covering the market demand, so again DEA). The FDA can say it's doing everything possible, but without the DEA getting on board, it will continue to be a hot mess.

Keep in mind that these are publicly traded companies on the NYSE which is a potential conflict of interest depending on which stocks are owned by which big wigs. That's not speculation.... there are 1000s of big pharma lobbyists in DC

I have been on Adderall 20 mg 3 x per day for 8 years. Although the shortage has been bad, what's worse is when you do receive the meds, it's from Alvogen and makes you want to crawl out of your skin. I plan to sue and have already talked to an attorney. Not a guinea pig and tired of feeling like crap because the big pharma's put "God knows what" in their generic drugs!!!!!

I don't check lower dosages unless my normal 30 mg XR / 30 mg IR combination is unavailable.

All I can say for certain is that the previous two months I had no issue finding 30 mg, and the previous several months I could not but found that most stores in my area had the lower doses (10mg in particular) in stock in plentiful supply.

It is the DEA ,CDC and the FDA that should be sued they are the one's keeping the meds we all need from being manufactured and they are trying to cut production of these drugs any Schedule 2 meds

There hasn't been any recent postings. Has anyone been having trouble willing their 30mg IR prescriptions? 30mg IR adderall has been on backorder for a few months in MA. A very nice pharmacist told me he's been waiting months and hopefully next month.

I have been able to fill my 20mg ir with no issues for more than a few months. Manufacturer has been epic pharma for a while now though.

A month waiting for my medication already here in South Florida. I operate machinery so I been barely working until I get my meds. Better than chopping an arm off and being flooded with medical bills. More than a year into this nightmare. It'd be easier to buy an assault rifle than to get my medication in time.

First -- let's keep the politics out of it. Anyone who cares to read knows that repvublican congress has failed to fund almost every pert of Obamacare,

I realize it's just a knee jerk reaction to you guys to blame Obama (cuz it's always so much easier to tear someone dowt then to help yourself (or, God forbid, your neighbor), back up.

The reason for this problem is two fold - (1) too many children are having children and and they just don't know that kids ALWAYS run around like fruit flies on crack and that parenting is a full time job cutting into their teenage partying years - so the answer must be the kid has ADHD ans needs some drugs to calm down.

And, the other reason is that the pharmarceutical companies are trying to capitalize on a patient glut by making fewer of their cheapest drugs. You'll notice that that there is no shortage of the XR varierty of adderall that still has patent protection or a shortage of the new Vyvanse - nope, just the cheap non patented IR form of Adderall (and apparently Dexedrine, too). And this is nationwide, folks, I read all your complaints, and I'm in Hawaii and just hand the same problem and I talk regularly with people in South Carolina, Pennsylvania and Kansas that are having the exact same problem. Now, I know what I'm going to do next month, but I can't tell of you, cuz then you'd all do it to and then Id be buggered again, but I promise that Ill let you what I do in a month if it works.

Tampa Florida. I called over 200 pharmacies today 10-26-11 ( walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Publix, Sweetbay, Costco, Sams, privately owned places etc etc etc ) Nothing. All are out of Bar Adderall ( peach oval ) 2 places had the awful pink ones which i refuse to take. They say they will not receive them until end of Nov.
