Adderall Backorder (Page 26) (Top voted first)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

I was told by Rite Aid that the pharma company can only produce and sell so many per year and they hit their maximum. I found this out 1 1/2 wks ago. It will not be available until 2011.

No Adderall in Middle TN!!!!

I take 20MG x 3, and I have been out for over a week now. I have adult ADD, and one of the things that keeps my mouth from running quicker than my brain (lol) is this medication. I call ADD my "calm". Well, my calm has been taken from me, but I am managing despite not having my meds. I agree with others that this drug is way over prescribed. In no way should it be used as a weight loss supplement.

I'm not sure who is to blame for the shortage, but I hope that someone puts an end to it because I really need my meds.

P.S. My brother is on Adderall as well, and he can't find any in Western TN.

Wow, I am glad I found this forum! I almost wasted a whole evening calling every pharmacy in driving distance. Most of the CVS pharmacies that I called told me over the phone if they had it or not, but a few said they could not give that information over the phone. Does anyone know what the reasoning is for that? I completely understand and respect that it is not the pharmacies fault, but I was just curious as to why they couldn't give that info over the phone? And is the consensus that it will not be available until 2012? I take 10 mg generic blue pills 2x daily and can't find them anywhere.

Problem is Adderall XR is patent protect red and those without insurance take up in *ss - which is exactly the ploy the pharmaceutical companies wanted.

I ran into the same situation yesterday. After calling 20 pharmacies, I finally found one that could fill my prescription.

TO ALL NYCers: After reading this thread I basically gave up on trying to fill my prescription but on a whim called Prohealth Pharmacy (370 Lexington Avenue between 40th and 41st streets // 212-286-8400 ) â€and they happened to have the 10MG generic version in stock. It's not XR but at this point I'm feeling lucky to have found anything at all!

the DEA regulates the amount that is allowed to be manufactured annually. manufacturers hit their quota in august so pharmacies havent been getting it delivered. they should regulate the a.mount docs are allowed to prescribe since everyone has add/adhd.we have til january before they can increase their numbers

Pharmacies get there schedule II drugs once a month, so not everyone will be out til the end of the year - you just got to keep checking - or get your doc to write for 30mg and break the pills, because you can get them easier than 10s or 20s.

Yes. I have a dr friend and he told me the same thing. The manufacturer hasn't made enough and will be sending it to certain regions acrossed the country as it becomes available.

I too have noticed a problem since May 2011. Fortunately, i take 20mg a day so there are no withdrawals but I'm not functioning as well as I could be. I had my Dr. write me a script for the XR's because one pharmacy told me they had plenty of those but the price with ins was over $60. I am used to paying $30 to $35. Anyway, I'm down for the class action suit. What ever is going on here, it's an outrage.

I am diagnosed with Major Depression (Which really is a more serious diagnoses than regular depression) I was originnaly prescribed adderall for attention deficet, but I found that it was very helpful for dealing with my depression as well. So, I looked it up on the internet and found that allthough rare, it can be prescribed for depression. It has been a Godsend medication to me for a couple of years to me now. I feel very thretened buy this understocking problem. I sincerely hope that it is resolved soon.

So, folks, there is also the option of asking your doctor to prescribe you Dextroamphetamine which makes up 75% of Adderall and is the 'good' part or Desoxyn which is the actual pharmaceutical version of crystal methamphetamine (without all the wonderful crap like red phosphorus and Coleman fuel) - if you can get the doc to use this shortage to change you script to either of these two options - it will be the only good thing to come out of this Adderall shortage - because once you're on them, you can tell the doc that they work for you much better than the others and stay on them after the shortage is over.

I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH ADULT ADHD ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AND I TAKE 2 30MG TABS A DAY, AWARE THAT ADDERALL WAS BECOMING SCARCE I TRIED GOING A COUPLE OF DAYS WITHOUT, AND IT IS HORRIBLE, COULD NOT FOCUS AND HAVE NO ENERGY, LOOKING FOR AN ALTERNATIVE, TOOK MY LAST PILL THIS MORNING AND I AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS

I was told dextroamphetamine was not being manufactured either. I switched to Ritalin and its not working. The dosage is different and my doc is not too smart.

I did find some adderall at the HEB in San Angelo, Texas(generic) $435.00 for 20mg three X's a day. And the Lowe's Pharmacy had the 'special MHMR' price at $169.00. I am used to paying about $30.00. I am on disability. Isn't this called price gouging?

It's all dosages, all types, IR, XR, brand name and generic.

Fortunately I got my 75 30mg IR Barr pharmaceuticals from Kmart for about $75. In Hawaii.

Finally getting around to posting something up. It seems that the stuff is just way over prescribed, I read something earlier about someone taking one drug and it made them drowsy so the doc just prescribed adderall to fix that. Since when was it ok for amphetamines to be prescribed like its a caffine pill, just my 2ct. Anyway my whole areas been out of Adderall since the end of last month when I went to refill for my 180 tabs @30mgs that I do every 3 months. Went back to the doc and he said I can either go vyvance or try going back to ritalin (I've been taking these meds for 15 years) but he said vyvance was going to be about 5 times what I pay for the adderall and that the dosage for ritalin equivalent to my adderall was 70mgs 3 times a day. I was like O.O anyway he wasn't comfortable prescribing that to me and decided to gamble this month on a honeymoon effect and prescribed me 10s 3x a day, its not working. Between Desoxyn and Dextroamphetamine which would be better?

What do you mean "Not of you don't have insurance and your doctor has a heart. " Is vyvance not a good drug ie bad side effects or proven signs of physical complications?
