Adderall Backorder (Page 16) (Top voted first)

Updated

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

I've tried XR in the past and much preferred just sticking to IR. Most people I think do prefer xr, but I liked IR better. Teva (which used to be Barr) is the most commonly used generics supplier at pharmacies (in my experience). And Teva is the one on backorder, so many pharmacies have prob started substituting with other suppliers for the meantime, which is why some people are getting different pills than they normally do. If and when it gets back to normal though, you'll prob start seeing the Teva generics again. Unless of course there is something we're not aware of that would prolong production from this point. For now it's just a matter of getting to the pharmacy as soon as they get a shipment in and being one of the first to get filled, which you can't be certain of bc the pharmacies won't tell you exactly when their next shipment is for security reasons (again, in my experience, if they do then lucky for you).
I will note that the pink generics, I can't exactly remember the supplier, I think it's Carr or something like that, I haven't seen in a long time. The Target next to my house uses those, or they did, and they NEVER have 30 mg in stock. I would say since at least last summer. Hope that is helpful.

King, have you asked your Dr's office to help you find a pharmacy with your medicine in stock? A nurse or secretary can make calls where as you'll have to physically go to all those places because pharmacies don't discuss their stock of this or that controlled substance over the phone with a civilian. Maybe you found your medication by now! Hope so!

Hi herb, Thinking back I might've preferred the IR the first couple years and then I'd try the XR & go back to IR the next month until one day it just kinda stuck! I realized I could still focus at 5:00pm to make dinner for my household plus clean up the (da$#&^)dishes. I can definitely feel it wearing off at 7:00pm that's for sure. I'm getting a little bit nervous listening to y'all talk about the Teva adderall shortage since that's the brand I've been given for years & have to get a refill tomorrow. YIKES! Wish me luck everybody and I'll be sending out my positive energies to all my adderall brothers & sisters. Hahaha.

It actually is the manufacturer this time. I spoke with the Teva pharm company last week and they stated that they are expecting to have the generic adderall 30mg and 20mg tablets back on the shelves within 21 days. That was exactly one week ago so, hopefully in the next two weeks pharmacies should be able to order it again (usually when it is on "backorder" that means that they are unable to even attempt to order the product). Im in Northern Arizona and having the same problem getting my generic adderall 30mg teva/barr tablets here. Had to travel an hour last month to get my script filled and this month I could only fill half of the quantity that my doctor wrote my script for because Walmart's supplier has only been sending them a portion of what they attempt to order each week due to the short supply.

But is it the brand. Or Teva generic, Teva owns the brand IR now.

I've been to all in two counties, finally the last possible one told me the manufactured has been told by DEA (I'm guessing that was the acronym) that the gov made them halt production because they passed their limit of how much they can make. This is here say but it was from pharmacists.

I had to scout all over last month to find a pharmacy for my 30mg Adderall, and finally came across a Walgreens that had them in stock- it's in Casselberry off fern Park and 1792. My friend also found a Walgreens the following week that carried the 20mg that she is prescribed and that was at the Walgreens off of red bug and dike road I believe? Across from the neighborhood Walmart. Hope this is helpful!

I have been taking adderall for over 12 years. I was told I had add at age 7. my mom said it hasn't been studied enough. when I went back years later my dr recommend it. Everyone saw a change in me for the better. I could focus. it never made me high. so I'm confused why some ppl use is as a drug but anyways I have had so much trouble since I've had it prescribed, it's always out of stock so I'm off and on I'm. not addicted to it but I feel like it's dangerous when you do truly need it and can't get it. Every time I change my insurance it's a nightmare, due to marriage, then my husband's work changed. But again they hand it out to college kids like candy and the people who need it suffer. My doctor saw me go though this many times so she writes me 3 a day instead of 2 that way when I can't get it due to back order and all other roadblocks I can stretch it out until the order comes in. I once waited 3 months cold turkey. I held a very important job that requires my focus and when I'm not on it I put milk in the pantry and cereal in the fridge. (if you really need this Med) you know what I mean. Cold turkey I mean that's so dangerous. you fight with the pharmacy, then insurance, then the doctor. My advice is find a doctor who knows how to weed out the people who don't need it. They will try their best to help you. Hope I can share my story and help others.

Yep. Again. Pharmacies won't even say whether or not they have it over the phone. They won't even call another location of the same company. I've been hopping from place to place. After about a dozen, i just give up for awhile --maybe 2 months or so.

I am having trouble getting my Adderall 20 mg. here in Brea, CA. Can't call around to see if they have it, and most are on backorder. It is frustrating. I need it's part of the array of drugs I take for Bipolar Disorder. Very upsetting. Have been on the same meds 10 years no problem, till I had to go on extended release due to issues with the drug company discontinuing the making of the of 20mg by Teva. It's just is so unfair to the people that really need it, because of the abuse factor which I have no problem with. It does not induce drug seeking tendency. You can't call to see if anyone has them, because they won't talk to you because it is a controlled substance. So what is a person to do? I am so infuriated.

guys here is how to take care of getting the generic manufacturer of adderall that you know already worked best for you. have your doctor write (for example) SANDOZ BRAND ONLY
OR TEVA BRAND ONLY
you fill in the blank and make sure you let your doctors know that (name manufacturer here ) is the only one that worked well for you
there problem solved

I don't experience much of the "come down" effects of Adderall at the end of the day, however the withdrawal is real after only a few weeks of 5 days a week use.

I've been having the same problem for about the last 3 or 4 months. I really feel that the corr and sandoz brands are the only ones that actually work for me.. They keep saying they both are on backorder... Also my dr. is in pa but my health insurance is Medicaid through nj, however nj pharmacies are not allowing me to fill a script from pa... Not even the same pharmacy that filled the same prescription from the same dr for over 10 years... It's very frustrating... We depend on these to keep us focused and they are making it so difficult... Good luck and and if you find any answers to your question that work, im very interested.

Re: Ridgerunner007 (# 576) Expand Referenced Message

He predicted the USA government had an unofficial agenda to put all of the fast-acting (Immediate release stimulants) placed
out of business.

I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that it is highly abused by students (who don't have ADD/ADHD etc) in high school and college to gain an edge.

"However, the pure form of generic form of long deleted Richwood, Shire US DextroStat, as, "Dextroamphetamine Sulfate" is the only acceptable, generic med, that is acceptable to me, "

I used to use CorePharma which was not bad but then I read in another forum 2 or 3 years ago that people preferred Eon Labs (Sandoz?) so I called around and found where I could get it. Turns out it really was better for me anyway. But lately I hadn't had a prescription filled for it for about 9 months. I just got a new one a few weeks ago and had it filled at the same pharmacy. I get home and it's Teva. I looked it up here and turns out neither CorePharma or Eon Labs are making it anymore. Was very disappointed to see this. I tried the Teva and didnt like it. I'm going to have to call around and see what generics are offered elsewhere now and try something else next month.

I've checked all in my area too. They said the same thing. Hopefully it won't last much longer.

Re: James (# 594) Expand Referenced Message

After a lot of grief about the Teva I just got my dr. to give me another script for Aurobindo and now it seems the Aurobindo isn't working hardly at all. Btw...CVS just yesterday got it in. This is kind of getting ridiculous. I'm going to stop for a couple of days to see if that helps.

We’re having a problem in NH but it may just be CVS. I have to go there because my part D is Caremark, and I heard that Wallgreens hasn’t had a problem, but last week I took 60 of the last 100 the CVS an hour away from me had. I remember when this happened in 2011 and it took like 6 months to get back to normal up here. It started in the southern states back then months before we felt it. It was ruinous for some people. I know for me, I was written up at work for the first time in my life because I couldn’t keep up.
