Adderall Backorder (Page 15) (Top voted first)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

That is way too expensive for you to be paying. You can get 60 pills for under $50 at Costco and you do not need to be a member to use their pharmacy. If you do not have a Costco around, it does pay to call all of the pharmacies in your area and get their prices. I do it with all of my scripts because there is major difference when you are paying cash prices.

The shortage is not caused by the drug companies, its a government mandated shortage.

Same here in CT. 20mg is available but my pharmacy, (Walgreens) only had 28, 30mg Teva brand, and I needed 60 for the month. The woman said they are on backorder. I had to go to a different pharmacy to get Cor 30mg pinks. Not the same thing, hence me writing this post in the middle of my work day.

I think it's a schedule II. I called Teva last week and they said it was backordered but should be in stores within 6 weeks. I was like, "Gee, Thanks."

I've had a few pharmacies tell me there was a recall. I haven't found anything online about one though. If anyone can find an article saying there was one, please let me know. But wouldn't a recall be, most likely, just one brand or manufacturer? Couldn't they just order from a different one?

I'm going to my dr today and I will definitely be having him write my script for 20s instead. When I called Teva they said only 30s and 12.5s were backordered so there's no excuse for them to not have 20s. It will probably cost more since there will be more pills, but I'll take that chance until things are better.

Can't believe the FDA is not reporting a shortage - took the 20 mg dosage instead of 30 mg - just not the same

Jolly, Is there no 10mg Adderall? I'm assuming we're talking the extended release. Your Dr should be able to write for the 20mg AND the 10mg equaling your usual 30mg. I'm thinking there must not be a10mg because if there were, your Dr would've written for both right? You'd be paying double co-pay but for 1 month shouldn't be too terrible. Good luck all!

I've had a prescription for 30mg adderall for about 2 weeks now and I cannot get it filled anywhere. I've tried every pharmacy near me and even some further away. I'm sitting here suffering and it's like these pharmacies do not care. They just tell me "we're backordered" and send me on my way. I at least wish I had an idea of when I can get it filled. I may wait another week or two, if nothing happens I'm going back to my doctor.

@Keikee I didn't know your doc could right scripts for 10mg and 20mg to equal your normal dose. Do you know if they can do that for IR as well?
@Anna G I've taken the pink pills many times in the past. They're just the same imo. I personally also before them to oranges sometimes.
@CRsquared I'm so sorry you've had to go so long! That really sucks. If you see a doctor within the same area that you live maybe use another's suggestion of getting your doc to help you find a pharmacy with meds in stock as they are more likely to tell a med professional than us civilians. Otherwise I would have def called my doc by now just for the fact that you've gone two weeks without medication and there has to be something they can do to offer help. Best of luck, I hope you find something soon. Others have stated that according to Teva, backorder should be letting up in mid April so fingers crossed for everyone.

I've been taking adrl for over 15 yrs and yeah I have been trying to get it filled for a month and the Back Order story is what I keep hearing. I'm going to Try and start having insurance E-scripts to start filling it. They gave me yellow ones Finally yesterday. And I don't know what these do. I have ADHD. So I feel more sleepy I think. Heck idk anymore. K

Wow, that rly sucks CR. I know someone posted recently that they were able to get a script filled at a hospital after looking everywhere else. I wasn't even aware that you could do that, but maybe that's something you could try.
As for everyone else, I drove across state (FL) to my hometown last week and got lucky. Being that's its a small town I knew my chances were better, but still had to try a cpl diff pharmacies before I got anything. Driving 2 hours from where I currently live, to get my meds....it's def feeling like 2011 all over again because I don't know about you guys, but I have been dealing with this pharmacy being out of stock issue frequently since Christmas '14. :/

I'm in Alabama, and no one has, the local rx's had a run on them and they are out, Walgreen's been out for weeks, CVS is out. Feels like the 2013 Adderrall crisis.

BTW Core Pharma are fine Anna G. I'd be thrilled to find some of any brand.

Yes call them. Last year I called the manufacture and it wasn't even them. They said it was the middle man, so to speak. Just another way for our wonderful government to control us.

Herb and everyone having a hard time getting your prescriptions filled, I just looked at my bottle of pills to see who the manufacturer is and it's Teva. I take the XR 25mg x 2 in the am. I used to take the brand name, which I can't remember remember who makes the brand but to get to my point, I think these Teva generics work excellent. Same time everyone's different. I don't want to jinx myself but I've had no problem whatsoever getting mine filled. I will say that I use the slowest(as in not busy)most laid back pharmacy in town which is the Kmart. Those of you having trouble finding your medication are taking the immediate release? Of those taking the IR, would you not consider the XR? Inquiring minds....good luck everyone!
