Accutane Long Term Side Effects (Page 54)

I have a son that took accutane 60 mg a day for six months in a row three years ago. Now after many trips to doctors over strange medical problems, it seems accuatne is the culprit medication that has caused servere joint and muscle pain, severe dry lips, redness in face, eye infections of own immune system attacking itself, systems of osteoarthritis in both shoulders, both wrist and right hand, blood in stool, possible hair loss, abnormal liver function test results in AST and ALT. My son went from being a high school football and track athlete while taking this medication three years ago to someone that is in constant pain just washing a car. After I have researched this drug extensively, I can't believe that the FDA allows this drug originally made for cancer patients to be marketed for teenagers with acne. All one has to do is look online what vitamin A overdose does to someone and then you have the results of what this medication has done to my son. This drug needs to be taken off them market ASAP and the drug companies that make it need to compensate all teenagers that they have possible ruined their future. Shame on them! What is going on here?

I used to pass out literally everyday. Recently, I don't pass out really at all. I try not to focus on the dna damage/ neurological damage done by accutane. The focus should be more on the bacterial issue that it has caused. Typically what happens is it destroys every ounce of bacteria in your body which is roughly 15 lbs of bacteria. Then yeast ends up growing in the body. The die off from the yeast is call canditoxins. When these toxins die you may experience depression and what may appear as a worsening of symptons. In reality it's not. The main factor that makes detoxing hard is the reabsorption of the toxins/yeast. So you want to kill and restore bacteria. I suggest you see a natural doctor, but I will give you the basics. Don't eat sugar(including fruit sugars), no gluten/wheat, no milk(lactose). So anything that ferments is forbidden. Eat organic as much as possible and eat vegetables. Meat is acceptable as well. Detoxification protocals can include bentonite clay and antifungals. The strongest antifungal being oregano oil. Remember though when you detoxify you must replenish with good bacteria. Good bacteria should be taken seperate from antifungals. Anyways, I'm going to stop here, because I'm overloading you with information. Please check the cure zone for information as well. Specifically, you probably want to treat yourself for candida. Also, remember accutane symptoms typically don't hit till 5 years later, because this is the time it takes for bacteria to full regrow. They know this so that's why they put a cap on suing them. Sneaky aren't they. So to change the bacteria in your body could take 5 years, but you will definitly see results in 3 months. So I'm not a doctor so legally I think I have to put that you must use my information at your own risk. With that said I'm just like you and I was close to death and none of the doctors wanted to give me proper treatment. They just wanted to dose me up with more meds.

As far as the lump in the back... all i can say is that accutane destroys your good bacteria which protects you from parasites etc. I have never tried parasite cleanses other than just using individual herbs for parasites. You may benefit from some parasite cleanse. As I said earlier in this message oregano oil is the strongest antifungal. Garlic is good, black walnut seed. As I've said before please check Hulda Clark's book. She was known as a quack, but the real quacks are the ones who give teenagers chemotherapy drugs like accutane. They think we are all too stupid to know what they are doing. Most of them aren't like us and are preying on the innocent good people like all of us.

Accutane is s***. It game me epilepsy and permenent dark spots on my eyes. Also my immune system was affected. Anyone out there pls dont take this. Look for natural alternatives or topical antibiotics

If you already have stomach problems Motrin or any type of ibuprofen or any NSAID is gonna hurt your stomach more. It can literally eat through your stomach lining and cause severe gastro bleeds and severe vomiting. Just trying to be helpful. That's what I went through.

Jennifer good thing you pointed this out. Nsaids can cause you to bleed to death. Google it. Another wonderful pharmaceutical. The irony of taking aspirin to prevent death. I feel sorry for all the people who are no longer with us and the suffering they endured.

Thank you for the great advice I know Garlic is already a must for me to cleanse the bad cholesterol. I had my cholesterol jump from 180 to over 1000 before they stopped giving me the last acutance treatment. They said it would be temporary hmm seems a while a go for it to have been temporary. Thanks for the good info though I will try it all at least once something has to give.

Vet4hire make sure you check your salt intake. If you intake a lot of salt your cholesterol levels could be high, because the body uses cholesterol as a method of clotting blood. High sodium can cut the arteries, because salt is composed of silica aka glass. Therefore if you have high cholesterol you may have high blood pressure. According to the principles of natural medicine high cholesteral is not necessarily a bad thing, but it's most likely due to a repair/bleeding condition in the body. Remember our cells our primarily cholesterol so we don't want to neccesarily deprive our bodies of cholesterol, but address the problem. I would like to know your son's affects. My son took it at 21 for 5 months. He was & is still suffering depression, confusion, memory & concentration loss. His right leg is still narrower since taking Accutane but the pain is subsiding. His newest medical mystery....severe anemia that his dr never saw before in any male with no known bleeding. He's sending him for a colonoscopy. Any knowledge from all your years of discoveries. Thanks

Dear Robin,
Your son's characteristics sound very familiar. Checkout Candida diet for help with these symptoms. Can promise you anything, but it did help my son trying it about 4 years ago the first time he tried it. Its a strict diet but well worth it. Good luck with the colonoscopy.

Located in toronto ontario.. People I spoke to made this drug sound like a miricle drug... Doctor made it seem like no big deal..and didn't mention any long term effects..only effects when your on it..very angrey!!! Good luck!! They should pay for this..I was 16 when I took accutang..now 25 and I regret it still

We were all duped. This drug can't be used safely. I was told the same thing as you... oh we check you with blood tests and if you make it through the treatment you're fine. I was actually told it only targets specifically bacteria associated with acne. The truth is it targets all bacteria and kills good cells by promotiing cellular aptosis. We all probably will not live very long, because supposively when cells do not divide and rather die that contributes to aging. Telomeres extend existing cells through the telomerase enzyme. Accutane inhibits the telomerase enzyme and then cells end up dying rather than dividing aka cellular mitosis. Therefore this drug can not be used safely. The doctors know what they are doing, but they lie to supplement their income by 35% so they can drive bmws and live in fancy houses while we all suffer for the rest of our live and die painful deaths.

I am glad you are doing the colonoscopy for your son you cannot take too many precautions after this drug. I hope everything comes out well. I recommend a probiotic called align it has helped me so much with all the digestive issues after my gallbladder was removed.
There are a lot out there but the secret in align is the best I tried the cheaper ones and hated myself because they did not work. I also love a drug called zofran it is.awesome for the nausea that I have had since taking this drug the two together make life much better for me
After years of ulcers and suffering a hyatel hernia actualey getting some relief is priceless anyway that is my 2cents and good luck to your son in this it is hard on an adult no child should deal with this.

The probiotic has all the good bacteria your digestive system needs by the way I contribute the doctor who told me to take it 5 years ago with saving my life because I was in some serious bad state with stomach problems. I cannot not say enough on how good it is and how much it helps no other I have found even comes close to how much better you feel when taking it.

I'm sure the align works for some people, but please check the ingredient list:

Bifantis (Bifidobacterium infantis 35624), 1 x 109 colony-forming units (1 billion) (4 mg), microcrystalline cellulose (for even dispersal of cultures), hypromellose (vegetarian capsule shell), sugar, magnesium stearate (for even dispersal of cultures), milk proteinâ€, titanium dioxide, sodium citrate dihydrate, propyl gallate (antioxidant stabilizer), FD&C blue #1, riboflavin (colorant)

This probiotic lacks acidophilus which happens to be one of the most important cultures our body needs. Depending on the type of invasive bacteria or the level that it has taken over the body will determine how effective the probiotic is. Also, FD&C blue 1 is a colorant and is a toxin. So they are basically putting a toxic blue food colorant in the probiotic. Anyways, not trying to undermine the last post, but I've owned just about every probiotic on the market and I won't touch the ones that say FD&C. The reason being there is no reason for them to add a food colorant other then to distinguish their product so I can't trust them. Unfortunately, with all probiotics they do have preservatives in them. So make sure get one with less preservatives. The best probiotics are VSL, Jarrow, and Garden of life. The now brand is ok too. I like Jarrow, because they enteric coated and designed to survive stomach acid and make it to the colon.

Jard..Did you take Accutane?
Does anyone know any doctors located in Toronto that specifically deal with people that have side effects due to Accutang? Is there any reversing any of the side effects? Is there any specific testing that can be done to determine what changes Accutane has made to the body? For example: stunted growth, Joint and bone issues, skin problems, liver issues, IBS, IBD, cellular issues as Jrad stated... I took this drug when I was very young(16) and obviously not educated on the severity and consequences. When I spoke with my doctor the most he said I would experience was dry lips and other short term side effects that most likely wouldn’t happen.. When I was on the medication I did experience minor side effects such as joint pain, seriously dry red skin, skin peeling and shedding like crazy and some stomach pains.. My acne however did diminish gradually.. Most of my side effects came after I was done the medication and some have came and gone.. I realized that my skin would never be the same, my youth and any moisture in the skin went away and as I got older seemed to get even worse.. After I was done my course of Accutane I experienced Dry skin, Hair loss due to dry scalp( when I say hair loss I don’t mean natural hair loss.. I mean coming out all over my hands when I took a shower.. This lasted for years and still comes back once n a while but not as severe.. doctors put me on steroid creams and special shampoos which I stopped cuz I was so tired of more harmful drugs that also had risk of side affects), peeling of the skin, dry eyes with constant crusting, extreme dry nose, if I had a cut or any surgery ( For example: I broke my nose) the healing seemed to take extremely long and I scared very easily, I am very sensitive to the sun which isn’t good considering I work outside, overall I have a lot of skin issues that look like there not going away anytime soon.. Some have gotten better though..Thank god!! I am grateful that I don’t suffer from any of the more serious side affects or at least that I know of.. But I do think it is definitely possible considering that I have had these issues and many more 9 years after taking the medication. What angers me is I wasn’t made aware that some side effects can last a life time where my acne might have lasted til I was 20. For those having issues please try to stay positive.. I know its ruff.. Anyone that has any helpful information please tell ..Thanks!!!

I’ve also had some lymph node problems and other things.. I only mention the skin issues because there obvious for me to detect and i know 100% they came after i took Accutane.. I never had skin issues prior besides a little acne.. Thats why I am curious to be properly examined by someone that specializes in this.. My doctor seemed to think Accutane side effects only exist when taking the medication.. I finished seeing this doctor shortly after taking Accutane some 8 to 9 years ago.. I was his first Accutane patient.. so he said.. lucky me huh

I took accutane. It's hard for me to answer some of these questions to satisfaction. All i know is it disrupts cellular mitosis. Basically, you will have less cell turnover. So logically you could assume that hair growth bone growth or any growth would be slowed down. So if the bone plates close while on accutane I guess you could say it stunted your growth. The problem with modern medicine is that it looks at everything seperate. You can't just say accutane stunted your growth. You have to say how did accutane effect the whole biological process of the body to stunt the growth. No test can show you this, but we can say that accutane effected every biological process of the body. The main problem with accutane is its influence on bacteria. It's hard for people to accept, but you must accept that all diseases are created by bacteria, parasites etc. So Accutane is a cancer drug and when I took it I was told by my Doctor it only targets bad bacteria associated with acne. I wasn't told it was a cancer drug. I want you to think logically though why a bacterial drug would be used for cancer. All this I'm repeating from earlier post. I repeat this though to let you know that accutane has weekend your immune system or good bacteria. This is why symptoms can teeter totter. The bacteria in the body can fluctuate now, but for the most part the bacterial terrain has been changed forever by accutane unless you take steps to fix it. That's why I recommend detoxification. All these quote genetic diseases are bacterial, parasitic disease hairloss etc. This is why immunizations, antibiotics, hormones are bad for us. All of them weaken your immune system aka good bacteria. When you weaken the immune system there is no doubt that you have bad bacteria in you and your body is trying to recover. The lymph system is a filter... if you have too much bad bacteria in your body you will probably have lymphatic problems. Anyways, please keep in mind i'm not a doctor. I can only offer what I learned when I became deathly ill. I once read about a woman who said she developed every disease when she was at the brink of death. I thought she was crazy until I experienced it myself. I knew immediately mine was a bacterial issue caused by accutane, but all the doctors would lie to me. Now that I've been there I understand exactly what she was talking about. I urge you not to get to that point, because it's very hard to come back mentally and physically.

hmm let me say this again... Not necessarily less cell turnover. You have cellular apoptosis rather than cellular mitosis. Cellular apoptosis is believed to be the leading contributer to aging and eventual death.

Yep! Can you imagine what everyone would have said if they told them the truth about this drug? As mentioned acne doesn't kill people, but accutane does! Typical problems don't show up until after 5 years. I believe the suing period is 5 years. I guess what makes me sad is if you can't trust the doctors then you can't trust anyone. They are willing to kill you over about $3,000 net income on this poison. $3,000 multiply by hundreds of teenagers. They become rich and we suffer all over a measily $3,000. I would have never sold my soul for this stuff, but most doctors don't believe in the soul. BTW the highest rate of suicide is doctors and lawyers.
