Abilify Makes Me Too Hyper Or Too Calm
UpdatedI was given Prozac for depression by my PTP but this sent me to the ER on the 4th day. I woke up vomiting, with dizziness, my legs were so weak, I had a cold and hot rush, and the worst head ache. After fluids, morphine, labs and a CT scan I was sent home and was told I had a stomach flu (smh). My psychiatrist said it was a violent reaction to Prozac. He also said my PTP shouldn't have prescribed an anti depressant. I was very paranoid and I've had really low moods followed by extreme energy and insomnia among other things. He prescribed Abilify a few days ago. First day, I had no effects. I was on the edge, paranoid and even had a huge argument with a complete stranger. That night I couldn't sleep, I felt so anxious and my heart felt like it would beat too fast. I was panicking. I kept thinking heart attack and kept saying I couldn't swallow when I really could. I felt the cold rush and nausea. Not as bad as Prozac but I was so paranoid I called the ER. I had NO appetite the next day. ER told me to go for a walk, drink lots of water and force myself to eat. I decided to stop. However over the weekend, I felt paranoid again as usual and started thinking my husband was lying or hiding something. I started thinking his family was against me and plotting something. So I knew I needed to act fast. I started feeling anxiety and extremely worried about taking abilify. I kept thinking I would die from a heart attack. So I cut the pill in 3 and took the smallest side with food. Now I feel too calm, sleepy and I'm afraid my heart will stop. Am I just paranoid? Has anyone else felt too hyper or too calm on abilify? About eating, it's too early to tell but I'm not hungry yet. Has anyone actually felt no hunger on abilify?

The FDA does list anxiety, racing heart, aggression, hostility, psychotic disorders, and other such issues as being possible side effects of this medication, though they are not common.
It could be that this isn't the right medication to help you. Have you informed your psychiatrist? You may need to try a different medication.
It has been several weeks since I posted. Just an update that I do feel so much better. Honestly, it did take about three weeks for me to feel the full affect and also for the side effects to subside. My only concern is what will happen if I decide to stop? The withdrawal! I don't want to be dependent on abilify for years! Anyone been on abilify for more than a year?
Ability making me sick and shaky. Can I just stop only been on it 5 days
