I cannot seem to find an explanation for my increased appetite when taking Adderall. It's suppose to be an appetite suppressant but for some reason, the higher the dosage the more the appetite. However if I eat, than the medication looses it effectiveness. ## Many medications cause the opposite of their intended effects in some people that take them, it is just something that happens. 3 days ago, I finally decided to make an appt with a psychiatrist to finally discuss my issues. I am a very sound, intelligent wife/mother of 2 children ages between 15-20. I feel that I am VERY normal and have no 'mental' issues. What I felt that pushed me to finally go see a doctor and finally accept help: I'm an organic, all natural mother. My son was diagnosed with ADHD many years ago. last month I had to drive 1hr to find 10mg Focalin. Doc increased it to 15mg. Nowhere to be found in or near Brooksville FL. Pharmacies say they can order it but can't guarantee they'll get it??? I have been on Adderall 30 mg BID for years but can only take the COR generic and in my area all we have is Barr. I had a very bad emotional recation to it. My doctor switched me last month to Ritalin 20mg BID. I feel tired and like I am on Xanax all the time. So now he is going to switch me to Dexedrine. I am so fustrated because my Adderall work perfect. they don't want me to take my vyvanse....because my urine test showed benzos. Why do I have to NOT take this when I have a scrip. I am in an intensive therapy program....for grief and very little alcohol. vyvanse saved my life......and now they want me to stop it for the next two wks. i am prescribed dextroamphetamine for depression 60 mg a day. i am a nurse and fear telling the tester, for a urine test how many days do i need to be clean ## Dextroamphetamine has an average half life of 10 hours in adults, and can take anywhere between 2-5 days (from the last time you took a pill) to be out of your system for a urine test. Keep in mind that if you are prescribed this medication, then you shouldn't fear it showing up. Just show the tester your prescription and prior to the test and you will be fine. What are the possible side effects of taking this drug for chest pain associated with artery blockage while also taking ritalin prescribed for treatment of narcolepsy (treatment of narcolepsy has been for about 50 years)? ## I didn't find any interactions or problems listed between the two medications. So I decided to finally go back on medication, and am on Vyvanse. I stopped taking meds for my ADHD when i was about 14 as I was getting depressed from it then. Now, I am 22 and finishing up my last year at University and I am at a place where I know I need help to focus. This week I haven't taken it totally consistently since going back on, but when I have, the second consecutive day has been extremely helpful. My concentration and motivation to get work done that I need to cannot even be compared to what it is without the medication.I am on a 40mg dose. However, I have noticed I am starting to make unreasonable demands of my better half. I also know this in my head, not just after but beforehand. I'm like "oh no, here it comes. My son is 12 yrs old. Our dr. prescribed Urbanol 5mg capsules and 10mg Ritalin for him. he is not restless or moody or anything.
