20mg Vs 40 Mg Of Viibryd (Page 2) (Top voted first)

I have been on Viibryd since Nov 1 2011. I began with the started pack (10mg/7 days , 20mg 7days then 40 mg). After being on it for 2 days my anxiety was TERRIBLE on the 40mg. I am now on 20mg and feeling pretty damn good...better than I have in years. Psychiatrist has agreed to keep me on 20mg and we will re-evaluate later.

My question is: are any of you on 20mg and staying there? If so, what are the pros and cons? How are you feeling...does it feel like that dose is enough?

Been on 40 mg. for 1.5 yrs. saved my life. One or two day stomach issue and that is it. Did not mind. Nice to exit crap. Lol. Hate being on pills. So trying to go down to 20 now. Getting headaches now and can tell. 40. Almost seemed like it gave me too much energy. Tough to go down. But my gut tells me to go lower

I started Vibryd starter pack in November. I have taken many different antidepressants in the past 30 years. I was on cymbalta when switched to Vibryd. I felt better within a week. The loose school has been the only side effect but has gotten better. However once on 40 mg for a couple of weeks, I felt zombie-like. I went back down to 20 mg and like it much better.

Has anyone heard of a company called Genesight? I company is a god sent. My mom has had depression for almost 2 years and has been on every med you can imagine. This company does genetic testing to find out what meds will work in YOUR system and what will not. When we got her results back it showed all the meds she had taken were not right for her system. There were only for that were right for her and she is on it now and has had very little depression. What she has had has been mamagable. They can do so much of the work for you. This is a fairly new test so make sure you ask for it. No seeing if this med works to find out it does not then to go on an other. This is a god sent.

if you go to the site and call the number they would tell you where in your area you can get it done or you can have your Doctor get into this and they can do it at their office. I am the one who asked my moms Dr. About it. She had not and went to the site read all about it an signed up for it.

Update, it has been two weeks on my increased dosage to 40mg daily. I have read about others feeling anxious and decreasing the dosage. I've had the same feeling when I started Viibryd, all over the place. However, no where near depressed or in a quandary. I'm finding myself organizing parts of my life that would normally fall by the side. I feel in another week or so this will level off as when I first started this medication. In my opinion by far this is the best additive to my meds that is working in years. The bloating is a battle I agree. I workout with an athletic build and by far bloating not in my script. It's being alive and actually getting out that ranks higher on my list. I did see my regular physician prescribed dicyclomine 20mg for intestinal gas. Whatever, it works just be prepared to burp or ehem, but truly only air. Best to everyone needing answers..

Your experience has been shared by many of us...40 mg too much, 20 mg...just right. Kind of like Goldilocks. 20 mg. was a great maintence dose, but everyone's body chemistry is different. Listen to yours. You will know if you need to make a change. Stay aware. Sometimes it's helpful to chart your daily moods on the caldenar (1-10)..if you have a bad day, mark a 2, if it's a great day..an 8...watch for patterns and think about the activities of that day, the foods, etc. Look for triggers.

I was on 20 mg for about 4 months, I'm stopping now because it makes me feel out of it and prevents me from thinking clearly, I felt like I was stoned half the time. I work in IT so being mentally sharp is very important for me. Here's my plan for withdrawal:
15 mg for one week
10 mg for one week
7.5 mg for one week
5 mg for one week
2.5 for one week

OK So I went to the Dr. for my 6 month checkup on Viibryd. Told her 20 mg was good and about the loose stool issue with this med still after 6 months. She says there is no solution for that except immodium only as needed. She offered to switch me from viibryd to something else if the bowel issue becomes too much. I really like how I feel absolutely normal on viibryd. Every once in a while a little anxeity will rear its ugly head but nothing as compared to pre viibryd days. Ireally have no weight gain and sex is so much better now that the anxeity is gone. I am really afraid to switch to something else. 10 years ago I took zyban (wellbutrin) to quit smoking. Stopped taking it after a week because I was so spaced out. No focus or concentration. I'll stick with this drug because it works well.

I've been taking Viibryd since October 2012. I probably shouldn't even be responding to your question, because I'm not sure it will help. I've struggled with my weight since I turned 25 and my metabolism completely halted (exaggerating, but that's how it seems!). That being said, I really can't say that Viibryd has "made" me gain weight. I can tell you that it completely made my chronic fatigue and aches/pains go away, so I'm feeling a lot better, which in theory should make me want to exercise more. But there is no pill that cures laziness, which is what I am! LOL!

So, I guess I would tell to try the Viibryd, but don't expect it to curb your cravings or appetite, but it certainly won't increase them (in my experience, anyway!).

Would like to update on my experience with Viibryd. I had gotten viibryd from a regular MD. When I started experiencing BAD side effects and i do mean BAD I discontinued slowly off of it....then I decided to seek a professional in this field. She explained that I have HIGH anxiety (GAD) this med she would not of pick this for me because it sent me into Hypomania had a horrible 7 months....believe me I have been on Paxil Lexapro Pristiq Effexor XR and NEVER experienced any of these side effects that I had with Viibryd. Goes to show you that all medicines do not work the same for everyone for sure...anything that comes out new I am not trying it....by the way I did go back on Lexapro 10 mg and so far it is doing ok....NO side effects at all....I just hate that they seem to eventually quit working...Lexapro works for 5 years so I'm trying it again... Hope you all have better experience with Viibryd than I did ...Good luck to you all....

I am on the 20 mg because I could not take the 40. I felt awful on the 40 with more anxiety too. I am having trouble with legs tingling and burning and tight muscles. Have only been taking it 5weeks. Did you have any of this trouble

I came off Effexor XR over two months and then went on viibryd starter pack. At 20mg I was finally feeling good again I was craving carbs but could watch a show and emotionally invest again. I was finding the joy in my daughter again. Now five days in at the 40mg and I had to go to the ER for a migraine. I have had migraines for years since I was twelve (44 now) and never was it so bad that I had to go to the ER. I called my Doc twice and left messages never got a call even after the ER trip. I am at a loss now. I feel awful. I hate to self medicate but I am thinking of cutting myself back and trying to find a different Doc. A psychiatrist that has a patient in crisis and doesn't return a call is a scary prospect. I have never been to the ER before this. I have never needed him like this before. Feels wrong to leave someone out there struggling like this. I guess I am worried about the low sodium migraines I have read about and what to do.

Hey this was REAL helpful. I love this mediciine and started with the 10, 20, and 40 pack. I haven't felt this good in YEARS, but I think the 40 is a little strong. I feel nausea but I thought it was sinus problem. I really like it but the 40 is a little strong. I am 54 yrs old and heavy weight. Wish their was a 30mg. Anyway I'm going to go to 20mg for a while. thanks everybody. Also as a sidebar, I haven't been smoking! Yay!

Hi again...I had posted that the 40 mg was too much for me and dropped back to 20 mg...which didn't seem to be quite enough. Discussed this with my Dr. who agreed to try a combo of 20 mg. and 10 mg in the pm = 30 mg. Seems to be working! Just wanted to share! Still have some 'days' now and then, but anticipate this will subside as I move forward, re-engage more with activities that I enjoy and try to be more social and less isolationed. It's all good and I'm hopeful.

Omg. Thank you everyone. I started 40mg vibryd two weeks ago and feel awful,light headed, dizzy, like a wave of nervousness rushing through my whole body. Im going to cut then in half and try that cause that seems to have worked for many of you.

I stayed on 20 mg for a year and then I could tell the difference of not doing as well. After a few months of that, they upped it to 30 mg which made a little difference, so now every other day I take 30 mg and then 40 mg. It has repeated the success of the first year now, thank goodness. My concern is and has been what happens when you get to 40 mg every day - the maximum dose - and that begins to wane? The only answer I get is that that is the maintenance dose. Nothing else on the net about what to do if you get to 40 mg and that no longer works. So I look to at least a couple of years of feeling normal. Do NOT miss a dose or you will have the brain zaps, and other side effects like trying to withdraw from effexor.
