2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 9)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

Userfriendly, idk your location, but here in swfl it's only gotten worse. This came right from my PM Dra few months ago. At my appt last wk, there were older women in tears, bc Dr had to cut them back. These are ppl in their 60's. Dr told them he has to show dea he's cutting prescriptions. If you think it's getting better, you're mistaken, bc roxycodone and so many other c2 meds are becoming more scarce. At the person who is trying to get this problem addressed, I wish you well. There's a cpp amd advocate whose been working her tail off for cpp to be heard. They even had a rally in capital Tallahassee months back. She has notified everyone from governor to Senator to state representatives. They don't care about us. {edited for privacy}. The whole situation is a disgrace. Advice is, forget the chains, they won't help. Try to find a small pharmacy and develop a good relationship. I've been with small one for 8 months now, and bc he's gotten to know me, and have NEVER asked for med early, same Dr and insurance and being older I'm sure has helped. Still can't get roxycodone though. I get opana a vomit every night bc the 1 med that helped me the most is unattainable. Good luck and God Bless each of you

gem- i can tell your feeling good because when i got my roxies a while ago, ide rant like your doing and can tell your feeling good! me toooo!!! theres some hope for us...drugs are starting to become available again...i noticed last month things eased up alot everywhere.

Contact your local State Representatives... let them know what a deal this has become... ask that they do something in the State Legislature to correct this FU.

I am new on here, but I am definitely in the right place. I can only get oxycodone 15mg 3 times a day. I go to CVS. I'm not sure why anyone would even try to get help from Walgreen's. I live in rural Putnam Co. I have been a medical professional here since 1999. I have been struggling with chronic pain for 10+ years. I have 17 legitimate pain causing disorders that span muscle, bone, joints and nerves. I am in EXTREME pain, just as you all are. I am getting scared because my CVS is starting to act "uncomfortable." I have been established with my recent doc for 1 year and also with CVS. Before that, I saw a doc and went to the pharm at my job. On Feb 28, 2012 I left my job feeling more tired than usual. Turns out I had mono (aka Epstein Barr or Chronic Fatigue) to add to the list that also includes HepC, diabetes-insulin dependent, fibromyalgia, neuropathy, carpal tunnel, reactive polyarthritis, spondylosis, fused C-spine, etc., plus the depression and anxiety that come with the package. I got rather inspired as I was wading through the pages of this message board. I relate to almost everyone's position. Oh, BTW, I lost my BCBS after 17 years of being a professional, and now have no income. So, I am lucky to have the doc I do. He knows that I need referrals, biopsies, labs, etc...but I'm uninsured. He is an Internal Medicine doc and I'm really a complex case. I try not to be too honest about my PAIN and low blood sugars (31 the other morning-fortunately a friend revived me), burning pain (that is a new one. OMG burning feels just like it says. Quite a new horrible addition to the other aching, stabbing, all over pain), numbness in hands and feet because I do not want him to stop seeing me. It's a balancing act. So, I get my 3 oxies a day-would love to get 4...can't even imagine the relief I would get from 4 30's a day. I might actually go out and DO something. He prescribes my Klonopin, Glipizide, Elavil, Pancrease, and I get my Insulin, Savella, Nuvigil, and Ranitidine from Patient Assistance Programs (check out RxAssist.org). If this can help someone, great! I found a PAP for Oxycontin-CR. You have to be uninsured. Today, I checked with my CVS to see when I can get my next script since Feb has 28 days. It will be 3-3-13. OK, I'm now in the process of figuring out how they count. I used to be able to go to the doc every 4th Monday, go to CVS and get my meds. You could get them 2-3 days early, depending on the pharmacist. OK, great. I run out Sat p.m. because I take my meds as prescribed. BUT, I am not sure how I am supposed to get up and drive 15 miles without my morning dose. Mornings are a nightmare as you well know. I try to save a dose or skip a dose, but I can't. I went through this whole mindgame for awhile thinking I was an addict. Well, I'm NOT. An addict wouldn't still have the 30th day doses. Also, if I were an addict, I could just go through detox--yeah, yeah, it's horrible, but it is FINITE--I could detox and the PAIN would go away. Nope. Not an addict. I take my meds as scheduled, even though I would love to be--if not pain-free, at least pain-controlled. So, I accept. I have to. But, now we got Scott in office, the DEA excuses, the "oh, sorry, we're out..." or the "we only get enough for our existing patients and we are no longer accepting new patients." When in a capitalistic country does a business turn away customers?" The worst part for me is that I know where I can get Dilaudid, Roxies, Morphine, Methadone, even freaking Suboxone, almost at any given moment for $1 per mg. Now Percocets are rare, but that's only cos they are so inexpensive. Yes, I'm being very cynical. I am a clinician. I am still licensed because I carry the false hope that I may one day work again. Sue me. I am so sick of how screwed this pain medicine BS has become. It has the opposite effect of its intended "agenda." It turns law abiding chronic pain Sufferers into doctor shoppers, or even worse, pharmacy shoppers. One time the pharmacist had the cahoneys to ask me in public, "well, what do you take them for, anyway?" No, I didn't tell him that it wasn't his business. I burst into tears because I was in searing pain and sobbed (very VERY loudly), "I have HepC and diabetes and fibromyalgia and...." I named them all, especially after he turned beet red and tried to hush me. I got my meds. I didn't care about my dignity. I HURT. My question? Is anyone willing to join me and advocate for us? I will do whatever needs to be done. I am a professional with lots of numbers after her name. I am uninsured. I am unemployed due to my, as my doc eloquently states it, "unrelenting, uncontrolled chronic pain and fatigue." I have just now applied for SS Disability. I have worked and put my time in. But, now, I am in constant, debilitating pain and I want to do something about it. I have created an email account solely for this purpose. It is {edited for privacy} If you have ideas, info, knowledge, names and addresses of the right people to contact...and if you want to be a voice of change, I am ready to begin advocating to the governor, DEA, CEO of Florida Pharmacy Association and anyone else who will listen to reason. Do not email me any violent, illegal, childish waste of our time insults. I am above the board in my desire for change for those of us who suffer in silence or feel powerless. But, now I hurt. This little bit of typing and time setting up the new email address has left me a cranky, screaming back, numb-handed individual with no evening dose. I am so tired of this. I would really like some allies, so if you are interested, please send me a legit email. Here's to pain control.

primetherapeutics delivers to florida and still get min every 90 days. oxycodone 30mg 1 or 2 4-6 hours. gotta have insyurance. thats who i use for years.

if they only get 2 bottles the Wk that is because they only order 2 bottles. file a complaint with the Florida Board of Pharmacy every time you get turned down no matter what the reason is

Does anyone know what is going on with Walgreens again? I can't get my script filled again and all Walgreens say they are only getting 2 bottles at a time and that usually only fills one prescription. I thought all this was straightened out when we all were screened with our doctor's, etc. I keep switching from methadone to oxycodone. I have to get my Dr to re-write my oxycodone script when I can't get the oxy filled. If I try to use another pharmacy, I hear Walgreens will not take me back. I have tried for a week now, and all the Walgreen's I try, do not have them. Will they ever get them? or am I wasting my time? I thought once I got cleared, under their new protocol, that I would have no problem!! WRONG!! Should I keep trying or have my doctor switch me back to Methadone, which puts me to sleep and I have a desk job? I have a very demanding desk job and need to be alert at all times It's so hard. Does anyone know if Walgreen's are ever going to get the Oxy? Jan 2013

Attention all roxy people....beginning now....you will only be getting your roxies through mail order. pharmacies once they sell what they have(which aint much,) they will not carry anymore and will have to get through mail order. fyi-dont say i cant find them in a month because im telling you why now. my pharmacists still carries them and told me no more dead is making everyone goto mail order for roxies. so make sure you have mail order from poharmacy. i think most do but some like bcbshield of florida-go blue plan doesnt carry mail order so just a little fyi

i have a work related back injury,3 bulged disc.then after my workers comp case was over,a year later my knee dislocated.i already had 4 knee surgeries and have no cartiledge left but anyhow.i go to a costco out of town to pay for the other half of my prescription my insurance wont pay and they keep telling me there is a backorder on the 30mg oxycodone.this is lancaster,pa.does anyone know of a backorder because there is no back order here in reading,pa but it's so expensive here.i have chronic pain in my back and knee.it's a long story.right now im just concerned about this back order.costco has the cheapest prices.when i used to pay for all my scripts,i saved about $500.00 a month.now my insurance has a quanity limit.im wearing a 10s unit,that helps.God Bless you all and i hope to talk soon.

I was informed by my PM DR, they're getting cracked down on like never before. The dea has been raiding pharmacies around SWFL. Thankfully, I've stuck with 1 small pharmacy, and he's doing everything he can to help me. I took in prescriptions today, said he'd have them in 2 days. Thank God for this man who can see I'm in pain. Every month, I'm a wreck if I'll be able to fill it. My advice is stay away from the big pharmacies, bc they don't care. Try to find a small pharmacy and deal with them for all your medical needs. While @ PM, a older lady dressed well ca,me into clinic and told them she had been to over 30 pharmacies, and no one will fill her meds. I heard her say they're just telling me " they don't carry those anymore". It's so sad a woman of her age and apparent disability can't fill meds. The whole situation is reprehensible. I pray for those who are having so much trouble. Those that are able to fill, count your blessings

This is MY STORY almost EXACTLY. WALGREEN's has Blacklisted me from filling ANY CONTROLLED scripts for this very reason. I cannot get them filled at ANY WALGREENS because of this one stuck up pharmacist who thinks she is god.
Apparently it doesn't matter that WAlgreens used to be my "go-to" pharmacy 1 year ago for all my Oxy and Controlled scripts. I was a patient there for 3 years without a glitch. THen I lost my insurance, went to a methadone clinic, got my insurance back now, back to the pain doc- back to Walgreens..... Errrrrrrr-SCRRREEChhhhhh!! Not back to Walgreens. Now they are WAL-NAZI's.
I did find a mom-n-pop that will fill, but they say they don't have in stock and to keep checking in. Many other pharmacies say the same thing. No one has now and Pharmacist say they do not know why? This sucks and is only going to get worse.

I'd love to get some info from you if possible. After 18 yrs on the East Coast, my family has relocated to the West coast about 18 myths ago. I've been have trouble finding repreable Doctors, as we'll as filling scripts.

I am 65 and live in Palm Beach County,FL with a broken back pieced together with metal rods. I have been taking oxycodone 30mg for 5 years to help with the breakthrough
pain and now I suffer every day beyond endurance with excruciating pain because I cannot find anywhere to fill my prescription.Walgreens was filling it but no longer. It is a disgrace that our pets must be treated humanely while we are left to suffer for what reason?
Since when do we deliberately decide to leave people in horrendous pain?
Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated.

@needadvice I also have had SOOOOO many injections..I actually started loosing my hair from the steroids and the anastheia. I know of a few GREAT drs out here in the Tampa area. I know we cant give names or email address on here so we will have to find another way to communicate. If anyone on here knows of any other way we can communicate..pls LMK as I would Love to help anyone I could. I know what its like to move and be scared to death about not having a Good Dr. Thank you all for you help in advance..Lisa

I want a real dr. I take trigger point injections, I have had so many epidurals they don't last long enough now. They won't give them to me anymore. The meds I am on are oxycotin 20mg. 2 x a day, and onycodone 30mg 3 x aday for break through pain. I need a pain management dr and a neurologist for my spine. I go at the end of the week for a MRI on my lower lumbar i have 3 herniated disc. He wants to do surgery on me and I won't do it yet. I had 2 surgeries on my cervical area and they failed. Now that is what has caused me so much pain. I am worse off than I was before. He told me that it would be afraid it wouldn't help, but the vertebrae was lying against my spinal cord and he said I could sneeze or move just a certian way and it would sever my cord. so I had to have it. I have a titanium cage and rods in my neck with grafts. My lower lumbar causes pain all the time and at times it causes sciatica until I can't walk. I have prolapsed disc in the middle of my spine. So see i need a spine doc with a pain specialist. I thank you for your help but i don't know when he will get a place yet. he is staying with some friends. It will be several months before I can move. I will not be coming until my other son finishes his job. It will be in the summer I would say. But, I really do thank you for your help. my prayers are with you and God bless.

I think we could and should be able to do something! I went to TWO walgreens today who had them in stock and wouldnt fill them for me because they didnt " feel comfortable" because I didnt pass the DEAs " good faith" test because its been since October 2011 since I had an oxy script. Its just ridiculous!!!!

I was told the very same thing today and then when I wen to another walgreens she informed me that the previous pharmacist basically banned me from getting my 15mg oxys from ALL walgreens because according to her I hadnt had an RX filled in over 2 years. The reason why I didnt have any during that time was because I was so tired of going on pharmacy hunts every month, hitting 20-30 a day that I went to a methadone clinic for the IMMENSE PAIN i was in EVERY Day. So according to another pharmacy, since its been so long since I had an RX filled the pharmasict didnt feel comfortable filling it. I asked him what would happen if I was a new patient and this was my first script? He said that no doctor should start someone out with 15s..that he shouldve just gave me perc 5s and then a few months later as the meds get stronger THEN he will fill the 15's. Its all one big scam and power trip on the pharmacists part.

@needadvice I also am in the Tampa area. TRUST me...U can tell the mills from the Real Drs out here. And a FYI for your sons..."IT IS THAT BAD" If U don't mind me asking...what meds are U on now?? And quantity?? And when U say U want a Dr to take care of U...are U meaning injections?? Or just medication wise?? I know a few Drs down here..some are by the books...injections..referrals...and others that U WILL get your scripts fron. I just saw a "fill in" Dr cause my Dr was away for Xmas..and I'm considering changing to his prectice because after over a year of High Blood pressure...I FINALLY got put on blood pressure meds..and have been complaining of severe joint pain..fatigue...chronic ear infections. Well..he referred me to a rhuematologist where I just got diagnosed with Lupus and Rhuematoid Arthritis. I guess we know know what ELSE is wrong with me :( Please get back to me.
