2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 30)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.
A LADY WHO LIES AND DOESNT NO WHAT THE F*** SHES DOING THEY ARE LAUGHING AT HER MY DOCTOR AND PHARMACEY SAY SHE IS MAKEING IT WORSE FOR US
Those who are new to this thread, some of us have contacted our representatives, senators and governor, and haven't gotten any response. I've called my insurance co too, they've been helpful in the past, but offered NO help with assistance in filling meds. They say what the Drs office says, just keep trying. Im so sick of hearing that phrase. The Drs don't care, they just keep writing scripts. Let's face it, it's all about the money. They know most will keep going back, and they just keep writing for something else. Now, the alternative meds are in short supply. I'm sick as hell right now, been vomiting everyday for a few wks bc of this opana. Makes me nauseated and costs me 4x's more than the oxycodone 30 mg cost me. It also doesn't control the pain as well. I'm really so sick of being sick. I'm starting to think I'd almost rather live in pain. I had gastric bypass and can't take aleve or any nsaids. I'm so frigging upset, my hubby's sick, and Im sick. If it weren't for my family, I think dying would be a release from this bs. It angers me so much, so many of us tow the line, been w/ same dr for yrs, monthly drug tests, always have meds @ every appt bc they're counted, and still treated like damn criminal. Some days I need an extra pill, so I have to suffer @ a wk before appt. I was doing well with oxycodone, now for months I feel like I'm spinning ready to lose it. Thanks dea and the govt who gook away our right to live a less painful life. My life will never be the same bc of the junkies and this governor and the dea. You should have to suffer to know how we the people who live day after day in chronic pain for the rest of our lives. You've shown no mercy for us. Sick of it all. Gotta go I'm sick again.
I certainly don't have the same amount of chronic pain that many of you have... What if you called your insurance company and maybe they have a recommendation? The reason I mention this is that when I had to take some meds for another matter the insurance company arranged for the prescription to be delivered to me. Maybe this can be done.
Would it not be worth calling them and ask?
I just read the post about a possible rally in Tampa in front of the DEA offices. Think that's a great idea! Considering Donna R.'s rally in Tallahassee did get good news coverage in the Bay area, which was nice to see. This new rally at the DEA's office would stir up more press, which is necessary for change. This will help get the word out to the community and to those who are not aware of this major issue that effects the elderly, middle working-class, etc...
It wont be long and we will hear that they been hording them and selling them from a new pharmacy that will pop up or something, there is to much cash to be made and 8 out of 10 cant fight the beast of greed. Mark my words.
sad. i have given up for now and financially unable to continue searching for a doctor to give me meds that work.
i know a buddy(who obviously im not saying) who will give me my olf prescrip. of 30mg oxy ir a day for cheaper than going to a doctor , gas, driving time, and the copays, its almost cheaper to just go round the corner. ridiculous that one may become a felon just trying to get simple pain relief...even once a doctor gives meds good luck filling it!!!!!!!
Wal-Mart is NOT the place to go. They had a line out the door in T-town, which has now messed up any legit pain patient from filling in the Bay area. Heard there was almost a riot and needed police to break up the line.
All we can do is stand together. We need to call our local representatives to make them aware of the after effects of the governor's attack on pain meds. I don't get it! Everything is in place to track the doctor shoppers, dealers, etc... They need to focus on the illegal sales of pills versus the legal sales. Get the petty dealers off the streets and ban them from buying meds. However, don't continue to stop filling patient's scripts that follow rules and have legit medical issues. I feel our rights are truly being violated!!!
Methadone is a good drug as long as you don't over do it. Xanax are good for the purpose they serve but taking them together is like putting gas on fire so be careful Methadone effects your breathing and has been known to cause you to stop breathing when sleeping So don't take them to get high because it might be the last high you feel. Try and keep the dosage 50 and under because if for some reason you can't get your script filled for a few days they are not fun to come off of
Can I ask ,what is the educational requirement for a dea agent.is it as much as an MD?I don't think so.Or how about a pharmacist, not even close. So how does the dea get to make these decisions. And who do they answer to?Scary isn't it that they can have so much control with no checks and balances.
Have a nice day Dan, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Apparently there are a few options discussed and maybe that is what you should be doing.
I wish the people in the Dea an the Goverment office would crash into a train an f up there back an then they would see what chronic pain feels like, then they would see why people take pain pills, they think shutting the plants down that make them will help the problem,It will make it worse, they will have more trouble on there desk then they can handle, they will be investagating robberies an deaths cause they made it hard for chronic pain people to get there meds,Its only a matter of time before people start getting blasted away to get behind the counter
HEY PEOPLE .. I AM A CHRONIC PAIN PATIENT & HAVE BEEN ON MED'S SINCE 2002.

Legtimiate Doctor Care & Having our Medications Filled... What some of you may not get ( I haven't read all the posts ) is that thIs ALL happened due to the DEA cartel tactics of intimidation, with our good Doctors & Pharmacists. They've taken the War on Prescription Drugs too far & now that they've closed the pill mills here in FLORIDA ( trust me, it will spread throughout the USA if we don't stop this now ) .. they are continuing unyielding pursuit of the innocent .. THE DEA are NOT trained in Pain Management .. therefore do not understand increased TOLERANCE LEVELS over periods of time when addressing Intractable & Chronic Pain Patient .. The DEA sees ALL OF THIS as addiction and addicts and the Dr's overprescribing .. when they are not. It is ridiculous & beyond our constitutional rights .. we MUST FIGHT BACK .. WE HAVE ALREADY STARTED .. & NEED MORE. WE just had a protest Rally @ Tallahassee ON 9/12/12 & next we will be plan to protest the DEA Offices in Tampa & then move on from there .. WE are ill, disabled ... & need our numbers to make our voices heard !!
COME, JOIN US IN OUR FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS! TO BE NO LONGER VIOLATED !!!
Don't even think about what they think. This is the time to concentrate on yourself. Others are critic's, and my only guess is they're not suffering like most. I hope you can get your meds soon. It's awful and I feel for you sickynurse, I was directing my comment to someone who keeps repeating themselves. God bless
I don't like being on pain meds but I didn't decide to get sick also.Sometimes life doesn't give you roses you know.I never even took an aspirin before I came down with lupus,djd,etc..I don't have pain meds right now and I'm sick and in bed in so much pain. And it won't change until I get meds.I lived like this for years. So detoxing isn't going to do chronic pain patients any good.I guess it depends on your level of pain. Most people on here are in a high level of pain and can't function.I don't understand how some people can't get that.
hey buddy. I dont wanna deteox from opiates cause ide be in pain you moron...some of us arent jumkies like you were evidently so move on to a recovery forum or something noone here wants to hear your pathetic stories.
If I were some of you I would investigate "The Thomas Recipe". It helped me detox from opiates. I could see the wrtiting on the wall.
TOM, I heard that Gov. Rick Has voted against it behind the backs of his bigwig buddies and they are peod! The reason he did was because a family member is in pain management or something and couldnt get them filled either, im sure he found away for fam. but he knows now the bigger picture! I pray its not bulls*** story, because we need all the help we can get. I personally have to keep myself in check every time i get all the lies when i try filling meds, when I KNOW THEY MOSTLY ALL HAVE EM! I want to punch them and break there face so they feel pain, sorry its the truth!
That's what I was trying to avoid was seeing people get to the breaking point and maybe letting people vent a little would help.As an RN we are taught to listen and be understanding. Also remember we can't get violent because that would only make things worse. Then you really won't see any pain meds on the market.I know how you all feel,I've been in pain for 20 years and to not have meds isn't fair to anyone. And it isn't fair of those who have meds to be so judgemental if those of us who want to complain a little do so.
ABSOLUTLY 100% CORRECT ON YOUR STATEMENT.
US CHRONIC PAIN PATIENTS WILL GET TO A POINT WHEN ENOUGH IS ENOUGH AND YOUR right, i dont wanna be around when some people get together and try to fill their prescriptions and i wouldnt wanna be that pharmacist on that particular day for sure....you are correct my man!
First, I tell no one I'm prescribed meds. It's none of anyone's business besides my spouse. Secondly, my kids knew better than to ever steal anything from me. Thirdly, I've already gone without medication, and would never get violent if couldn't attain them. I think most of us know how ugly and disgraceful people can become. When I couldn't fill my rx a few months back, I was in a lot of pain but didn't get violently sick like most said I would get. Is that the difference between dependency and addiction? Im not sure. I'm drug tested every month, and go every 28 days. If a patient doesn't have @ least 2 days of meds left,im sure its charted and it won't be tolerated again. This topic has gotten so off subject, I wish you all legitimate chronic pain patients the best of luck. I'm growing tired of the rants of certain people several times a day. Most are up on these current events. Become proactive! Ffpcan org so good luck and God bless
