2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 31)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

Holy crap! Did you seriously just change your name and go through that entire story again? No freakin way? Are you copying and pasting or what man? Come on dude! Please we all know your story by heart by now. S*** I think I know your story better than I know my own! Go through the last IDK 15 or so posts and count how many times you wrote the same thing. well I wrote a note to the president of the United States an I will continue to write every congressman an Govener in the United so Called states of America,We Have no Rights in our world no More,they band smoking in some states from smoking outside,like what makes the Differance if you inhale 2nd hand cigarette smoke or your walking down the road an cars driving by with a oil burning car or a Semi truck with Amona -or the farms that spray insectisides on there flieds,they think smoke is the only thing that will harm you,amagine that,One thing or the other ewill Kill you its just when it will,Only one person knows that,I will never understand the way this world operates,you can have Pedifiles take you baby an molest them an get out in 3 to 5 yrs an just check in with the state,when they should be locked away for life,people only think its bad now with the pills not being able to get them,I will give it 6months an you will see an hear of more Robberies an Deaths this year then any year ever,Because people that know you take them that you think there your firends an they know you have some an they dont,like kids that will steal from there parents an get what they want,what do you think they will do to a so called friend,every pharmacy better get a uniform cop inside each of them if they know whats good for them,cause when these junkies have no pills there going for them no matter where or how they have to get them,this State has done nothing but cause more fear now by closing plants an pharmacys that wont fill the scripts an when one person sees them filling for one person an they wont fill for them that place is going to be in trouble,I would hate to be the one working in the store when it goes down,cause it will go Down its already started where I live an its only going to get worse,people with chronic pain will get to a point they will do whatever it takes to get to them an no matter what it cost doing it,

thats unfortunatly what i am forced to do. my doctor that got shut down and i finally got a new dr who wont write roxies ok then dilaudis is only other thing i can afford and the pharmacies have but he wont do that one either...so i wait to find me a new doctor and im as legit as they come.

@pan,you know guys I am really sorry you think I sound like the only one who has worked all his life,its not like you think,I realize everyone out here is depressed-an I for one was a work aholic for yrs an for the last 5yrs my life just went down hill,And I swore I would never turn to Drugs that laugh was on me,I know everyone is tired of hearing complaints from me an I am sorry,I still work no matter the pain an the reason I have to is because at 53yrs old an have a 7000sq ft furniture store I try to get these young guys to work an all I hear them do is tell me how bad there back hurts after moving my furniture that I did myself for 5yrs an run my pressuring cleaning an painting business for the last 25yrs an now had to shut the paintuing down cause of my lungs an heart afib,I know there are all kinds of people in my boat an some worse,I swore I would never let a surgeon touch my back to but then pulling weeds one Day at my exes house my Back blew out at L4L5 so then I couldnt get up an the amblance came to carry me to the Er,I know its no good complaining on here an I was just trying to get my point across until some would write to me an say I shouldnt have let them cut on me,But when they dont know that I had no choice in the matter it was surgery or be parilized from making the wrong move,Just what happened to a friend of mind who went to bed with his back hurting an woke up an his back blew out an he has been in a wheelchair since,I dont mean to sound like I am the only one who has worked since I was 12yrs old then went into the Army an got out an have worked 7days a week since from age 24 till 48 when my back blew out,then my neck had to be plated an screwed at c56c67 an then another back surgery,its hell getting older,but when I see these young kids that are so lazy that they never have lifted there hand to help there self let alone anyone else an then get on Drugs to ruin there life when its short enough as it is,An you cant tell them nothing they know more then we all do,so to all of you who think I think I am the only person that has worked an the only one who has pain I am sorry to you,I know there are alot of you going through what I am 24/7 an I also know there are alot that has no business getting no types of meds,but I am with all of you in the same boat,I just would like to make a differance to this state an the laws they made to see that us with chronic pain has to suffer cause of pill mills who are only there for the almighty Dollar an the get rich quick sceem

actually I was getting 120 80s a month an 170 dilaudias an only taking them as needed not as they said,thats the only reason I have had enough to last me,In ten days I am done an see a Doctor the 28th,to see what he will be able to do for me,if it wasnt for me being told in dec that by the time july was here of 2012 there were going to be no oxys to get I would havent endored so much-but knowing that I saved them,an I will tell you one thing if I dont get relief from the Doctors you can bet I will go to the street

@sickynurse, I understand how you feel but I learned to live with the fact I won't be able to get the med that worked for me best too. I'm sick everyday to my stomach from the opana, but complaining and wishing will not make them available. I know that's over, and bc of so many abused that particular med ( oxycodone), that ship sailed and I realize it's not going to change back to the way it used to be for any of us. God bless

panicpain,because everyone is switching to other meds now there is a shortage with everything.Boy we guys are all in the sh..I wish we could all be a little more tolerant of each others shortcomings.I know I've been whining and I shouldn't.I lived without those darn things for years and I wish I never got on them.I wouldn't have experienced pain relief like that and could have stayed ignorant.lolMy docs actually say not to have surgery on your back.I won't do it either.Anyway maybe if we're good the med fairy will bring us a surprise.No I haven't taken anything.

well yesterday I talked to a tech at my local walgreens.He said they still get the oxy's but they get such a small dose each month that it doesn't even take care of one person.So then why don't they take care of someone different evey month and then we could take them sparingly.Anyway the pharmacist said he can't fill any breakthru meds.How did the rally go?Did anyone hear?

Tom, no one should pass judgement on anyone else. You're making it sound as if you're the only one who has worked all their lives an suffered. Many of us are stating the fact you're telling your whole life's history. You're singing to the choir, we get it. Get help with a support group of failed surgeries. I'm sick of hearing complaining, but people just seem to care about attaining this 1 drug. JOIN THE FIGHT. FFPCAN org. Complaining isn't productive and what's more annoying is wrong forum for this constant repetition of words.. ugh

Personally I think ol' Tommy Boy needs a good old fashioned hobby, maybe a few of 'em! This s**t has gotten out of control, what are we middle schoolers? come on guys, we all hurt, we are all suffering as a result of issues surrounding pain mgmt.
By the way Tom am I correct in saying that I read that you wrote that you had not been to a Dr. In about 4 months? If that's the case, how exactly are you getting your pain medication? Perhaps from those Junkie pieces if s**t on the streets that you detest so much? I have read online that a lot of legitimate pain patients are turning to illegal means of obtaining meds just to get some relief. Just saying!

@ williams-I dont care if you or no one else cares about what surgeries I have went through Dude,but its like this when you people tell me that I shouldnt have let someone do 2 surgeries on me an dont know a thing about me or my problems then you have no business telling me I shouldnt have let them do the 2nd surgery,So all I have to say until you been through the so called Surgeons that calls there self good an they screw you up then you have no reason to flap your jaw

@argh,I wouldnt have said what I explained the first time until the guy wrote about people whinning ,He hasnt never had surgery an has the gull to tell me why Did I let them do it again,I had to lay it where it needed to be laid,My point exactly is everyone is going through hell right now,And there is nothing no one can do about it,I just wish the Goverment would see that closing these plants down isnt going to help the matters at all with the Drug problem we have in the united States,All there Doing is making it to where there are going to be more Herion Addicts an deaths,Until there Back blows out or they get into a bad wreck they will know what pain is,If they have any sense at all they would get someone in office that has the same problems as us people with chronic pain,I will survive anyway it takes with Oxys or whatever they sale on the streets if I cannot find one thing thats works then they have plenty on the streets,At this point I will try Herion an start doing it if thats what it takes to relieve the pain,I really could care less anymore about what it takes if it Kills me doing it I will be over the pain an suffering,Then I wont have to be in pain nor keep working an paying bills an voting for f idiots who knows nothing

I would like to add I clean for two doctor's and both tell me Gov Scott is responsible for this. I also had a pharmacy confirm this. If you find it a good law vote for him again if not you know what to do. I agree people getting these at pill mill amount's needed to go but legitimate prescription's for real pain should still be attainable. I bet if Scott ever get's cancer he find's a way to get his pain pill's. Isn't it also dangerous to suddenly without warning to be taken off of high dosage pain pill's. Scott must be making the illegal drug trade a zillion time's richer.

I feel the same way. I've heard of more failures with back/ neck surgeries than successes. The fact is, we are all facing similar problems, not being able to fill oxycodone prescriptions. Instead of posting about failed surgeries, it supposed to be about the medication. I also agree with many here, true pain sufferers would be willing to try an alternative medication. It's established most can't get oxycodone. Have open communication with your Dr, they're aware of the fact we can't fill oxycodone. It's not the only med that can help. It helped me more than what I'm prescribed now, but this whining about begging for "roxy" wreaks of desperation. It only makes it worse for legit patients. Once you find a pharmacist who will fill alternative, stay with them, and hopefully they'll be willing to fill for you going forward.

i must say tom, hes correct...your not the only one doing this but really man noone cares on this site about your surgeries...ive got my own but really dont care on this site as everyone here is fcked up in 1 way or another but find a support group for your issues this is strictly about meds and how and why we cant get our oxies anymore for us legit pain patients

Dude you keep repeating yourself over & over & over again. We get it man. Maybe you should find a support group or at the very least a chronic pain forum. Every time you post a reply I get a notification and it has nothing to do with the topic of THIS forum.
I have gone through A LOT OF CRAP in my short 34 years but one thing I have learned rather quickly is that no one really wants to sit there listening to someone else go on & on about ALL of your problems when the world is full of people who are worse off than you. You made decisions to have surgeries and now you have to live with them. Failed though they may be. I am sure the risks were explained to you pre-op. I have needed back surgery for awhile now, but I have done my research and the odds are not in my favor so I opt against it. It's too much of a risk! My mother-in-law has had 2 surgeries, why 2? Because the 1st one failed!! You think for one second she is gonna go for a 3rd? Uhhh No!! She is not very intelligent, but she knows better than to let anyone cut into her again, unless of course it's life saving surgery! Pain, nahhh, just eat your damn pain pills and get your head out of your ass.
My point is, this is not the place for emotional therapy. If you have valuable info regarding the "shortage" so be it. But if not, you should try a different forum. One for Chronic Pain Patients or Failed Surgery Patients.
