2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 28)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

@danwilliams, 1 hit of pot won't show up by next wk. Just be careful, my 1st appt I had w/ pain mgt, I tested positive for pot. The Dr explained it's a C1 drug, and he said it's the worst thing I could've tested positive for bc it's a C1. I explained I was in so much pain and had to wait 6.wks to get into pain mgt. He said he doesn't think it's bad, but.on paper, looks really bad if dea.comes.in and it's on record. Being it was my first appt, I was told if I ever tested.+ again, I was in violation of contract and would be discharged. I'm tested every month, and once in awhile I smoke a few days after appt and I'm fine. I was so nervous twice, I went to cvs and bought the marijuana test kit and am clean even if I smoke a few times in the first week. Don't admit to smoking, if u only took 1 hit and haven't smoked prior, you'll be fine. If you're nervous, the kit is $20, and test the day of appt so you're not a wreck about it. It's bs, pot should be legal. Alcohol does more damage than pot in my opinion. I never heard of anyone having pot poisoning, or dying from a pot overdose. Just trying to help, bc pot looks really bad in records. Good luck, it'll be OK.

If u only took 1 puff, you'll be fine by next wk. Never admit that to Dr, its a c1, and it happened to me @ first appt. I was warned not to have it in my system again. You can buy a test kit for 20.00. I posted something else to you, but it needed further attention. Good luck, you'll be fine Dan. Peace.

I explained to Dr I had to wait 6 wks to get into pain mgt. And I was in so much pain and did it bc I was in pain.it's total bs that its not legal.alcohol is far worse in my opinion. Never heard of anyone od on weed. It's one of the worst things to have show up bc its a C1. He personally didn't think it was bad, but when the dea looks thru records, looks bad for Dr and for patient.

Dan, tell the Dr the percocet isn't relieving your pain. Drs know the legit pts from the drug seekers. You have rod in neck and percocet is supposed to keep your pain level tolerable? That makes me so angry. Get something else, I switched to opana, and @ least it's better than morphine, dilaudid, etc. It's part oxycodone and part dilaudid. It's expensive though, costs me 97 w/ insurance. It's all about the damn money, when I was paying 26 for same amt of roxycodone. I'll pray for you, and hope you can get better pain relief. Our basic right is being taken away. I can't believe this is America, the country I loved and my husband layed in a rice patty for a year in Vietnam and still has horrible flashbacks and lives with guilt everyday bc he fought for this country. Sorry for getting off topic, but we need to be heard. Let's all record our denials of getting rx's filled and post them. ffpcan org too.

panicpain,I asked about opana and all the pharmacists up here say they can't get that or dilaudid or any quick release.I still get a small amount of longterm and I can't believe that new guy gave it to me.Anyway couldn't fill that today either.I'm going to go around and try talking to some of these pharmacists.My record is clean like yours and this shouldn't be happening.They all told me last month they could fill my one script no problem and now it's a problem.this is ridiculous.

In the past 2 days I have been to 18 pharmacies trying to get my oxy 30, 120 script filled. I have a history with one drug store for over 5 years without a problem ...not no one has the medication. I have stenosis of the cervical spine and am in severe chronic pain. I need my meds.
The DEA doesnt care about the real pain patients... they have cut us off as well as the abusers. How do we get attention to this matter?

You need to vidio each pharmavy or voice record them and put on u tube we all need to do this EVERYTIME because we cant afford commercials so embarassment first will spread our fight!

If u are getting surgery, and since the doctors are aware of the circumstances with what is going on at the pharmacy's these days.....this should be discussed with the surgeon before hand, so there is stress on your part!!! He or she should be able to accommodate you, other wise if after surgery pain meds are left up to the patients to obtain, and, they have to run from pharmacy to pharmacy stressing out about the after surgery relief medicine......then who in their right mind would schedule a surgery with a surgeon? In other words given the set of circumstances going on at the pharmacy's.....and if my surgeon said" i can schedule your surgery, but u will be responsible for getting your own pain meds" I would say " F ThAT" !!!!! That is their responsibility to make sure the patient is going to go home, and rest comfortably after surgery!!!! Who would risk a back surgery, only to get home after surgery and be in severe pain??? No WAY!!!! And did you know there is a pharmacy in the hospitals? Think about it! There has to be!!!! Lets be real guys, NSAIDs can handle our pain just as good but its the sickness and dependence that has us stuck on them. That stresses me out the most. I wish I never started taking them because every month it's so stressful because of the impending WDs that put your life on hold. I hate Walgreens but I have the most luck there as well as the most bs. Regular Walgreens told me no today then I figured I'd try cvs for the hell of it and sure enough they filled for me. You just never know. I'm in the Orlando area. I get 120 oxy 30s

Synthetic urine works great, and its against the law for them to be in room with you when you pee in cup, UNLESS On probation and have to urinate for them in probation.

The problem w/ synthetic urine is your meds won't show up which is a red flag. I know I can smoke the 1st 10 days a few times, as long as I wait 18 days b4 appt. Everyone is different, I just don't think 1 puff will affect dans test next wk. Video these damn pharmacists who are playing God with us. I have a bad feeling I'm going to have same problem as sickynurse this week filling opana. As to who.commented on taking nsaids for pain relief, too much of that and it causes bleeding ulcers and heart problems.

Hey Sue...speak for yourself! Maybe for you they do, they did 20 yrs. ago then you take more an more and soon you have ulcers, and your so sick and still in pain and then pain in Kidneys and then they try you on Lortab and so on so if you went farther than you needed Im sorry, but as i keep saying on here we are all different shape size , mind and we have different chemistry and natural make-up.So if NSAIDS work for you REALLY then please get help to wean yourself off them. Nsaids have their own set of side.effects, as.doneplayin.said, ulcers and if someone really takes over the limit, heart attacks. Most of us haven't gotten tothis last line of meds without trying everything else. If nsaids worked so well, so many wouldn't be in this nightmare of trying to fill legit prescriptions so we can live a semi normal life. If someone makes a statement like that, I doubt they're in chronic debilitating pain everyday.

What's with the Morphine Equivalent Ration (MER). My pain doc is cutting my meds because my MER is too high, I was only taking 60mg of Methadone and 120 mg of Oxy a day. It controlled my pain quite well, now I am having trouble treating my breakthrough pain on a daily basis.
This, on top of the problem I have in even getting the meds.
How do we get together as a group and get noticed for our delima.... we need national attention on the matter of the availability of the narcotics.

We need to start a new thread NO roxycodone in the state of FL. @beaux surprised you were able to fill it up until now. Most of us were cut off without warning month's ago, after being w/ same Dr and pharmacy for yrs. @ sickynurse, the small pharmacies are the only ones who seem to have opana if you're lucky. I go to fill on Thursday, and after his remark of it not looking good for him to be filling the 1 med, I'm apprehensive. I'll have my muscle relaxer rx too, and hope that helps me. I'm over this month to month stress. As far as the synthetic urine, bad idea, bc your prescribed meds won't show up which is almost as bad as the weed showing up.
