2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 20)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

You're both right. When I see a kid who looks from 18-25, @ pain mgt, outside talking on their phones, and hear them say I got the script, and meet u later. Unless they were in an accident, I don't see why someone that young would need " roxys". I would flip if my 20 something kids were taking these strong narcotics. At 34, that's a different story, and you're absolutely right, people of all ages can abuse meds. I think the Drs need to be a lot more stringent on who they prescribe these meds to. To think they're still on the streets proves that. Unbelievable, legit pts can't get their meds filled, but these punk junkie dealers are still in business. Things ate going to get worse, I'm anxious to know what happened in Tallahassee today with the org that went up there to fight for all Floridians. God bless them and all legit patients, to the junkies, you all should be put in jail for a long time.

I feel really bad for all of you. I know how it feels when you are in chronic pain. Without my meds, which I was on oxycocet 2 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and 1 in the evening, then I was also at the same time on 1 oxycontin 40 mg, 3 times a day. My pain was still so bad, that now I'm on Fentanyl 100 mg. patches that I change every 2 days. I live in Canada, and if your doctor writes a prescription for any of these, we get them. But yes, they are still very strict on these, but dr.'s knows when you're in pain and not faking it. (I had many operations, cyst grew around my spinal cord, they had to cut my L-3 and L-4 to cut it out, had my 1st, left and right rib taken out, and still many more other things). As I said, I feel so so sorry for all of you that are in chronic pain and can't get any relief.

panicpain,is it today or tomorrow the rally?Anyway for those young folks,I came down with lupus at 36.That was 20 years ago.For years I lived in pain and did just that.I was too young for pain meds so until got into my 40's I suffered.I still tell stories of hitting my head against the wall in the middle of the night.It wasn't fair.Back then the theory was whatever a patient needed they got. Times have changed that's for sure.However,I also have a 21 year old daughter with lupus.She lives in pain every day.No pain relief and she won't even try because she has seen what I've been through.

That is so not right that your daughter has lupus,and can't get pain relief. I'm so sorry she is sick and in pain. Pain knows no boundaries, and unless you've lived in chronic pain, you can't understand how it feels to suffer everyday for years and for the rest of your life. I wouldn't wish chronic pain on anyone, however maybe if the law makers of this govt could feel pain for a month, they would then know how it feels and wouldn't be trying to take away a basic human right to pain relief. The rally was scheduled for today, 9/11/12 @10am. I don't know how it went, I was going to see if I can find out. God bless.

Hey guys..The Ralley is tomorrow Sept 12th. Hoping to make it there with the help of my "12yr old" to help take care of my 2yr old daughter. I can No longer lift/carry her to take care of her on my own. And it make me Sick to my stomach to see of these people(addicts) that are getting scripts handed to them. It is clear as day that they are Stoned sitting in the Drs office..or some just with there head down sleeping or with there sunglasses on Inside cause they don't want anyone to see what they look like because of the fact that they are clearly stoned. DISGUSTING. And like we ALL say.... WE SUFFEER...Because of THEM!!!

@mouth, you're right it is tomorrow. I'm not in my right mind, just found out spouse needs hospitalization due to rejection. Omg, when I was in Drs office last wk, there.were.2 older women who were stoned out of their minds. 1 kept repeating how she can't get meds filled, and the other was doing the nodding slurred speech thing. I said something to the woman who checks me in, I told her it's like the twilight zone out there. These are the ones who also make it worse for us, it's a disgrace. I don't understand it. I guess I never will either. Peace.

I am saying unless a person of any age has been in a severe car wreck or had a bad fall they dont need to be on pain meds,My point was to be made to these people who have never worked a day in there life an say there in pain when they have not worked-have not been in no bad car wreck-had no bad falls an just taking pills to sell an get high off of,an there is no young person that should be able to go any pain management Doctor an them start them off with 240 30mg oxycodones-60 40mg oxycottins-60 350mg somas-30 10mg valiums no one should be prescribed all them for no reason whatsoever at 18-19-an in there twenties I dont care what anyone says,People with Cancer is the only people who should be on all them pain meds-places like renewed life clinic in holiday Florida thats what they start every paient with that goes there,no matter how old they are they get all of that to start,an the people cannot even read a MRI the doctor that writes the scripts was a peditraion Doctor an retired an thats what these people do to start up a paper mill clinic is get a retired Doctor to do there Dirty work to make them rich from the 500 first visit an 125 plus 35 for a urine test every 3 months,an the DEA office hears of all these Kids over dosing an they should be charged with there Death because there is no one that young without being in a severe life threating wreck or a huge fall that should be on that many pills -they should be starting them on Norcos-percocets -something in small doses-not give them the Drugs people with Cancer Take to start with an then they wonder why there are so many robberies-an killings from all these young addicts-an the goverment just sits back an lets it happen day after day,I am not saying for one minute if you are in chronic pain from a bad wreck or bad fall at no age you should not get whatever it takes to get relief-I have had 2 major back surgeries an plates an screws put in my neck in the last 2yrs,I have worked since I was 12yrs old an had back pain since being in my twenties an took alives -over the counter meds till 48yrs an I see all these kids walking qan running to get in line at the pharmacy talking on the phone telling people to meet them here or there to get hooked up,there are legent pain people but 90% are nothing but Drug addicts they is running it for everyone that lives in chronic pain as I do day after day an I still have to work while they sit on there ass an do nothing but talk about how bad they hurt an never had the first surgery if they were that bad they would have surgery

Walgreens would order what I needed when they were out of stock or refer me to a store with the meds I needed.

@Tom....U are sooo correct. I started on cymbalta..believe it or not. The Very 1st pain mgt dr I went to guess he thought all the pain was just made up in my head..lol. That was after 5 yrs of suffering 1st. Was referred to another Dr and started on Vicodens, then Norcos, Percs,.....etc. I have gradually gone up the ladder. Those Drs were Great Drs too...when I was living in NY. I wish I could still take a vicoden and have some sort of relief. I hate that U build up a tolerence to opiotes as quickly as U do. When I moved here I was taking 120 15mg roxis....1st Dr I went to prescribed me 224 30mg roxis and a s*** ton of other meds. I discharged myself and went to a new Dr...same thing. This is my 5th pain mgt Dr I have been to down here in 3 yrs. I HATE the DRS down here...they are Horrible. I totally agree with you. I don't know how someone who has never been to pain mgt can start taking 7 30mg roxis a day without getting terribly sick. I got sick when I went from Percs to the 15's. What a way to ruin everyones life. The Drs who just don't care and the druggies who don't care about us chronic sufferers. It is a vicious cycle. Let's see what happens 2morrow!!

Morphine and oxycodone is not from the same opium. Morphine is from a naturally grown seed. Oxycodone which breaks down to oxymorphone is synthetic so stop judging and maybe you should do some research. The issue is this so called "war on drugs" not the drugs. If you legalize all drugs and out them on the shelf like that poison ethanol, then all of these problem go away and no new problems will arrive! Wait one problem, lots of pigs out of a job.

yep...all st lucie pharmacies that filled my oxycodone /oxycontin/dilaudid/methadone.(had 4 different scripts last 4 months cause each month the pharmacies wouldnt have the same meds 2 months in a row) dam shame. ive got plates/screws too in neck. God has us suffering for some reason...just hang tough and find you a local drug dealer since the dea hasnt done anything but disrupt legit patients and supply and gave it to the criminals. theres so much wrong and not enough room to tell. may just wanna think of moving to canada or the uk if its not too late to do so. im 40 and still young enough to make the chjange but am disabled so there goes that idea...ill just keep buying off the corrupt dea agents selling the oxycodone illegally off the street. dam shame. if your not disabled...move out of the country now before your stuck...this problem is just that and will not get better for quite sometime...prolly not in our lifetime.

@TOM - If you are going to the rally, you better hurry. It's today (Wednesday) at 10 am in Tallahassee. Don't know where you are in Florida. I believe it is on the lawn of the capital building, but not absolutely sure. I'm sure if you're in that general area, you can find it though. Good luck!

they will all be laughing at us and smirk it away as a one day protest but unfortunatly they just dont care. not sure if theres enough of us voters as were small in numbers..God Bless to all those able to attend the rally.
