2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 19) (Top voted first)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

panicpain,oxycodone 30's of course.Do you know a pharmacist told my hubby today that they are getting them but very few and then they are gone in minutes.MY Dr. is on vacation.Lucky me.What is working for people?I can't imagine anything else working like these.I can actually walk with just one pill.How is your hubby,I can't stop thinking of him and been praying for you guys.

It's a sad state of affairs being judged on looks alone. I know, bc I've lost 100 lbs over the last few yrs, and realize how I was treated so poorly being heavy. People didn't want to look me in the eyes, or a look of disgust. It's so wrong. I'm still the same, and good person. There's prejudice all around us. Walgreen's is the worst. They'll lie right to your face. I stopped in there last month for kicks and giggles, and the rude pharmacist said " I'm not comfortable filling this" and walked away. This after over 2 yrs w/ same Dr same everything. It's a nightmare.

@ sickynurse, he was cathed today, results.of bw in about 10 days thank you so much for asking and praying. I hate to tell you, but I gave up months ago trying to find roxycodone 30mg. Theres so much abuse with them, and especially if the dr is prescribing 90+ a month, I highly doubt anyone will be able to fill those except if you're a cancer patient. I've run the gambit from opana to morphine back to opana. I now am stuck with that. Not nearly as good pain relief, but @ this point, I won't drive around and round going crazy for something that unattainable. Even the pharm wbo filled the opana for me said I wont fill roxycodone or dilaudid. The junkies that are killing themselves everyday with the roxycodone took away a highly effective med for chronic pain sufferers. You're being lied to, and my advice is to resign yourself to the fact you'll have to try alternative medication. God bless

@panicnpain I have also been on numerous meds for migraines. Imitrex...imitrex injections, Maxalt mlt,topamax 1 other drg I cant remember the name and now Fioricet is the only drug that helps me. My dr does not like prescribing them to me even though they are the ONLY med that helps with the migraines because it has tylenol in it. I know the risks and damage it can cause..but it is PRN. As with anxiety meds I have been on klonopin for about 3 yrs and it started to not work so well for me...valiums same thing. Xanex I feel isnt doing what it is suppose to anymore but im at my wits end with all these meds. It is tough being so young and having to go through so much and raise a family. I went through HORRIBLE withdrawals when I got pregnant with my daughter in December of 09. I went through them for about 4 months. it was misery. I was still able to take my roxicodone to function but took it at the possible lowest dose I possibly could. And Thanks to GOD she was born a healthy 9lbs 11ozs..LOL. Big Baby!!! But healthy and NO withdrawals and is Super smart. She will be 2 on Saturday. It was a awful pregnancy and I never thought I was ever going to have anymore children because I had Cervical Cancer 2x and they had to remove so may layers of my cervix they didnt think I would be able to ever carry full term. Amazing I did. With my son I had placenta previa at 4 months and was on complete bed rest the rest of my pregnancy. I wasnt on any meds then. Those were the days of care free living. Then I was in a car accident and hit on my drivers side and that was the end of me. My carefree living days were run short. I wish U the best. Lisa

941, if you look up your town then CERTIFIED pain doctors, your doc will be on that list. Google is best. Good luck honey.

I've been going to the same two walgreens for the past 5 years I don't even bother going all over gods creation to find the 30 mg roxicodone have a long acting med to get u by and have patients and be nice my pharmicist will let me know over the phone because they know us and will also hold it for us u can't just pharmacy hop it will usually get u no were a few thank u cards and some flowers or donuts will also get u good brownie points I've had to wait a couple of weeks a few times but always get ours filled they know if we are patient and call or show up every day we are not just drug seeker walgreens gets them in just go to the same one and be patient and have a er to get through till u can get your breakthrough also purdue has a patient help plan for their op's if u qualify which is basically the same as oxy ir just show your pharmicist this so they know u are getting an er also have a nerve drug muscle relaxer so your not just getting narcotics and valium hope this helps tac on the beach

There is no shortage. I use a certain Walgreens in Cape Coral and I have never met the nicest pharmacy in the world.I know when they have them and when the truck comes in. No lies just fill the 30s and the 40OPs and hit the road. It helps if the place is first come first serve. My wife also has her own Walgreens and they give her hers before anyone else. It helps if u have a good known dr and don't have a script for over 120 30s. If you live in fort myers and cape coral area i can help u get them filled if u really are desperate i promise. walgreens is your only chance, and if u go in or call your pharmiscist and ask him to order a week in advance for you is your best chance, i have done that way for a year and only did not have once, but you have to deal with the pharmacy you go to all the time.

sad here in florida. last month i went to a new doctor and wouldnt write me my 15mg roxicodone or the 30mg roxicodone i been getting for 12 years. so whatever...he tried me on the oxycontin which to my surprise was able to get filled. then comes yesterday my followup. he increased my dosage to a more tolerable level then went to the cvs same as last month and nothing. wouldnt even say hes getting it. tried 11 other pharmacies all treated me with a quick nope sorry sir. so i went back to my doctors office and was able to get 10/325 percocet and got them filled no problem. amazing these dam pharmacist playing doctor asking me for type of injury(when its none of their business along with the full room of people staring at you when your simply not wanting to share your personal info with everyone there including the dam pharmacist.) whatever, i can get the 15mg roxicodone which works alot better for me than the 10/325 and its not killing my already damaged liver in the process. so at least im not in w/drawl again and i know i can get these filled and have some relief. better than no relief. took 5 hours and 20$ of gas driving back and forth all around trying to fill a dam rx. i almost blew up at one point wanting to tell them i hope you or your wife, mother, father gets in a horrible accident and have to have titanium from the neck up and than tell me how "you dont need this much medication" i mean im only getting 30mg oxycontin man you filled it last month but this month it too much medication-bs man pharmacist playing doctor. so, i guess back to turning legit pain patients into a drug seeking person in pain that has to go to the street since i cant get the strength meds that have worked for me for the past 12 years. never early, never run out responible with my meds and nothing. somethings gotta get done as this is bs man.

If Walgreens is our only chance, and they're so great, why are most of us having so many problems with them? Even rxman explained how the opedate. they're the devil, and after being treated like trash, I wouldn't go back to them ic they were the last pharmacy on earth. I'm using a small pharmacy, and the pharmacist actually cares, and is willing to help. I went first thing this morning, and although I need to go back tomorrow for remaining rx, at least he gives a damn. I'm not happy I can't get roxycodone anymore, but there's not much I can do about it. I'm also annoyed my med $ went from 26.00 for roxycodone to 97.00 for opana. I'm not a dirtbag junkie who abuses or runs out or has stupid excuses. When I was in Drs office yesterday, 2 older women are talking so loud, complaining about not being able to get their " roxys". They're clearly abusing bc their slurring their speech and nodding off. I don't say a word and stick to myself. It sickens me ppl like that have ruined it for responsible chronic pain sufferers. I wish I could fill oxycodone, but I won't play games with Walgreens or cvs. Good luck to those legitimate pain patients that can't get their meds, and to those who are having no problems, I hope that lasts for you. I am wondering if it is the area you live in.The walgreens I went to for years used to have my meds waiting for me.A new pharmacist showed up and that changed.He was so rude and then they stopped filling peoples scripts.I still got mine for a while and I watched numerous people walk out in tears saying they were coming there for years.Then it was my turn and it has been hell since.I am north of Tampa and in so much pain I'm about to give up.I'm glad some of you are getting them that means they are not gone for good.I can;t even go look anymore the pain is too bad.I just don't get it.I am willing to pay a mom and pop for some to cut the pain but I can't even find one with any.So what do I do with a shortage and everyone already in with their pharmacies so there is no room to take me on.I'm sure alot of people are in this boat too.Two months ago when this started I had people running in front of me to get to the counter first.I can't run!can hardly walk.I've been on other meds and they don't work lets face it.so why bother.I guess I'm too sick to fight this.I also have a perfect record with meds.None of that seems to matter.

please someone tell me,can you get blackballed at wallgreens.It seems the minute they look me up on the computer they don't have any.meds.I went to check one pharmacy today and their attitude was so different than last week when I checked.And why would they?I've always done everything right and I am always polite no matter what.How can I find out?thanks

@ sickynurse, you're not alone. They did the same thing to me. Always dress well, did it all the right way. Even when I went to another Walgreens, they were rude and told me to go back to the one who was filling for 2 yrs. I explained they tell me their out, or they're not comfortable filling. Been told we only have for our regulars. I went as far as calling corporate on them and reporting pharmacists rudeness. They called me back and said, I bet you're trying to fill roxycodone? I said yes, been a customer for over 2 yrs. He said there's a huge problem w/ that med, and they don't have to explain why they won't fill it. I was as upset as you are months ago. I gave up with them. You're beating a dead horse. Get on another med. Even if you can fill the oxycodone this time, you'll continually have o go thru this nightmare month after month. I'm not getting the relief I was attaining with the opana. I have no choice, bc this problem is going to only get worse, not better. I'm sorry I'm telling you something you don't want to hear. I was so upset about it for months. I'm done with it. We are @ the mercy of the dea and others. It's a losing proposition. I've been there, and so has many in this forum.

To the lucky few that are filling their oxycodone, you're very lucky and I pray you continue to be able to get the med. My Dr IS a certified pain mgt specialist too. I take monthly drug screens and always have the 2 days of meds for each appt. I'm not a kid, a nurse, and a upstanding member of society who is always dressed well, and conduct myself in a proper manner. Thank God I found a small pharmacy who is helping me. I said in another post though he specifically told me he will NOT fill oxycodone or dilaudid. I'm only trying to help you sickynurse. The few who are not having problems w/ Walgreens are just that.. few and far between. The rest are all in the same boat, walgreens doesnt care, thats the bottom line. God bless

Theirs a pharmacy called trinity off of seminold blvd in seminole fl pinellas county they almost always have them 5$ a tab and u have to pay cash and let them know up front u are paying cash make sure u talk to pharmacist also heard of kays in tampa but never been their the medicine shoppe in largo and a few others compound them so if u snort or inject don't bother put narcan and ginger but are cheaper if u have insurance which I do not their are mail order pharmacies not online but legit mail order and I believe most insurances can help u find them but like I said in earlier post if u don't have ins u have to get in w a good chain pharm winn dixie in orlando used to always have them same as target don't know about pinellas but I believe they use mckesson along w sweet bay and wal mart since cardinal health dist in fl is shut down for 2 years again have patients and try to stick to one pharm and go everyday if possible some of still have to work in that case try the purdue patient assistance program free oc's w percs as breakthrough

panicpain,thank you again and I believe you.It bites but I guess we are not the chosen few.My problem is we don't have any pharmacy up here that will fill anything.All we have is wallgreens,wallmart,cvs,publix and sweetbay and they are all the same.I can't find a pharmacist that does not have an attitude problem.i am really scared.

I know how you feel sickynurse, I felt the same way back in may when walgreens started their twisted game w/ me. It's a disgrace to be treated like drug addict. Look in your local phonebook, and see if you can find a small pharmacy. Try opana ir, for me, it's better than the morpbine I tried. My Dr worked with me, but there aren't many alternatives to oxycodone 30 mg. I feel for you, and I don't understand how someone can help you fill your meds from here. Talk with your Dr, and they should be able to help you. Plz don't take what I say as being callous, I've been in your shoes, and tried everything you're trying. The end result was the same. I couldn't fill the oxycodone 30 mg. Prayers sent to you, and you'll be ok. Have faith.
