2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 15)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

Good morning everyone. I just thought I would post this in the event it may help someone other than me. I heard from a family member that Walgreens on Dale Mabry and Van Dyke had the Oxycodone 30 mg. in stock as of Friday. HOWEVER, I live right up the street and the pharmacist would not fill my prescription because she said my physician was not a "certified pain management" physician as he was listed by the Health Department as "Internal Medicine." Anyway, if you physician is a "certified pain management" physician, you may be able to fill there. Just thought I would put it out there.

Rx man, if you need help, go to the website gofundme.com. maybe that's the route to take. Your statement has renewed my faith that some of you do care. I was beginning to feel all pharmacists are uncaring jerks. It's good to know you've taken the time read all the posts, amd understand our plight. I it would be great if you would join us on FB. We have an organization called fight for Florida pain action care network. Please look up Ratliff, Donna. We have over 100 people involved and more joining everyday. If you travel once a month can you please tell me what airline you find to be most affordable & your average cost also perhaps where in NY you are traveling to .....any help would be greatly appreciated...thank you in advance!

I fill no problem every month you just gotta bite the bullet and pay $3-4 a piece at a Mom and Pop that don't take insurance they are the nicest and I call them when I leave Dr. and they have them ready no problems in last 2 years. you have to embrace the change

FYI this not going to blow over! Patients need to fight for their rights and Now at the Rally in Tallahasse FL at the state capital! This Problem is bigger than you've been informed! This has become federal now not just state. So being at the state capital is in your best interest at this point! I also have a website FFPCANI.com its high time consumers get educated on what is really happening! Fight for pain care action network is now not only a group but a legit non profit now. If you think you can sit back and ride this pain med storm out, think again. This is going to grow like cancer to many other states. It already has and has started in pockets in other states besides FL. Your taking your chances leaving this with hope and not doing anything to be proactive about it. I have been posting on here every now then and everytime warning everyone this situation is getting worse. So if its not bad enough for yet? Prepare to not have any pain soon. They only want cancer patients to be allowed to get it. The VA has already started reducing and weaning people down to off them. your pain is not that bad, then take your chances. But I'm telling you the truth! Its time fight and now is the time to do it! Waiting will just let them take. Right on out of the state of Florida. Then you can just forget it. Don't say I haven't warned you. You don't know who I know! So its up to you.
Tallahassee on wed sept 12 2012 at 10am. I would not be going to this extreme if it were not necessary, trust me on that. This very important if you are real legitimate pain patient. Good day all. Its up to you.... At least I know I warned you.

Just to add to the confusion, Walgreens Pharmacy gave me a list of Doctor's they will only fill pain medications. I now have to change doctors to get the medication I've received for over a year and they have filled for over a year. The doctor's need to protest the actions of the pharmacists.

Same problem with Walgreens. After 2 yrs, all of a sudden they're not comfortable filling my Drs script. Went to mom and pop pharmacy with 2 stores in their chain. Donna is tirelessly fighting for all of the chronic pain pts in FL. Please join us in our fight and get fliers to your Drs and attend rally in Tallahassee on 9/12/12. Like she said, this problem won't go away. It will become almost impossible to fill prescriptions if our govt has their way. Don't believe for a minute this problem won't affect every state, it's a matter of time. Please join us, the site has a lot of valuable information that will educate on what's going on. Anyone in the Vero Beach FL area know of a Pharmacy where I can get my Oxycodone 30mg IR Rx filled? I've been filling at Walgreens for YEARS,but now they tell me my medication wont be in until next week(first they told me a week,now they say 10 days!)And no guarentee it will be in stock at all! HELP Please,I dont have insurance so i'm a self pay. I've been without my pain meds 5 days now :(

@ doneplayin, this pharmacist @ this all pharmacy specifically stated " I won't fill oxycodone or dilaudid, so as long as you're filling opana, I can help". I'm not stupid, I was paying $26.00 w/ insurance for 150- 30 mg of oxycodone. Now I'm paying close to $100 for 150 opana. It's all about the $. I'm hoping he will fill for me this week, he told me last month her would, but after being burned.by so many pharm, I don't trust any of them.

I meant *small. I also just got paper from insurance co. Not only did he get $100 from me, my insurance pd an, additional $240.00 . With the roxycodone, it was $26 copay and about an additional $100 from insurance. These pharamcies that are charging some of you $6-10 a pill, is outrageous. I also think it's illegal. Look up price. Gouging at pharmacies. If you're a Floridian, join us @ FFPCAN an org that is helping cpp. Go go FB and look up Ratliffe, Donna. All about the $. Anyone who is paying that much for meds is being price gouged. I don't think it's legal, and you need to research it. It's sad that these pharmacists do this bc they know ppl in pain will pay any amt for relief. God bless

Many of you people are clueless and have totally lost touch with reality so stop blaming the pharmacist and stop posting that they are gouging!!!! The truth is this: for every bottle of oxycodone or dilaudid we buy the suppliers force us to buy 8 bottles of something else that will probably never sell or will sit on the shelf for years. So either the pharmacist will stop buying and be forced to tell you he's out or, in an effort to help you, he will order it but be forced to charge higher prices just to break even. If you want someone to blame then blame the DEA who come into our stores flashing their badges and going through your files with a fine toothed comb hoping they will find something wrong so they can shut you down. Secondly, blame the corporate America chains like Walgreens and cvs who are in bed with the DEA and the government and eager to put every mom and pop out of business so that they alone can rule the world. And finally, blame yourself. Many many many of you are the real cause because you abuse or are addicted or simply do not have the strength of character to admit you have a problem and seek detox treatment. If I had a nickel for every used syringe I find in the bathroom or for every person I watch go out to their car and immediately shoot up or snort I could retire. So the next time you are tempted to blast those of us who are trying to help you I suggest you sober up first, get your facts straight, and take a good long hard look in the mirror before you pass judgement. ANY QUESTIONS?

@ RX man, I appreciate you explaining this to me. I don't take offense because I'll be the first to admit I'm addicted. It makes me sick that that is the case. As for people who shoot or snort the meds, it's disgusting to realize so many do this with their meds.

In addition, how are we to know the info you posted when the majority of pharmacists hand back the prescription and offer no explanation. Looking at it from your perspective, I'm sure you have to deal with many people day after day. The Dr's are at fault also in this state, writing way too many pain medication prescriptions. When I see a young person @ pain mgt getting these meds, it really makes me angry. I have kids in their 20's,; and with few exceptions, there's no reason they would need any pain meds. There are some of us that are good people, with legitimate pain, who don't abuse them either. I've learned something from you today, and my hope is for people to look at everything from all perspectives.

I can't believe these people who are addicts are still trying to buy meds when this crisis is going on.I am an RN who came down with lupus and the pain is awful.I can't get my meds and it would be nice to see the addicts take this opportunity to get clean.I can't do that .I have insurance but am willing to pay for meds at this point.I have been without for 2 months and can't take it anymore.I don't care what it costs,if you know where I can buy in tampa area let me know.Pharmacy that is!

panicpain, ready for this.I went to a walgreens where the pharmacist here in new port richey told me I she wouldn't fill my script until I got my Dr. to write it differently.I did this and went back for her to say I had to wait 2 days.So I did to hear she decided not to fill it because I live down the street but my Dr. is one town over and that's too far.She actually had a smile on her face!She enjoyed playing games with me.My usuall Wallgreens has decided not to stock my meds anymore.just as I'm writing this my husband is out looking for me because I'm like everyone else in pain in bed.He just called and told me he stopped at that same pharmacy and another pharmacist was on.He was going to fill itwhen that other female pharmacist came off of break and said no ,can't fill,wrong area.So see why we get upset with these glorified pill counters.They are a disgrace to their proffesion.Now my husband just talked to another pharmacist who was so nice and said he has been ordering the 30's and just can't get them.He took the time to look at my profile to see how long I was at the other walgreens.He is talking to my hubby about what I can do but he thinks it will be a while before the breakthru pills will be back.Just when I was giving up on pharmacists a good one pops up.But too bad there isn't more like him!

It upsets me so much that they're playing games with a person with Lupus. Walgreens are the worst, and I'll never patronize their stores for anything. I really believe some of these pharmacists enjoy playing God with us. I'm so sorry you are going through this. It's so wrong to deny a person as yourself this medication. I'm in Charlotte co and haven't been able to get roxycodone for 4 months. The opana isn't giving me the relief I'd get from the roxycodone. The opana also makes me feel lethargic. I'm an LPN, a wife, and a mother, and contrary to what some think, I take care of my family and home, and push through the pain. However, I don't have Lupus , to deny you the right for pain relief makes me very angry. I do have a hubby who had a heart transplant,and has been in rejection several times recently. We have to be up in tampa this week for another checkup. I'll pray for you, and hope you can get your medication filled. God bless you.
