2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 13)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

Well....I actually go back, and read each post that was written, so I have an idea where people are coming from that post on here, and, I have actually listed where I got my oxycodones filled when I did find them....although, I found out, since, they would only fill for me, because I'm a "regular". I'm an RN that used to work with my pain Dr. Prior to my cancer recurrence in my bone. He tells me about all the patients he has to kick out of his practice, because they refuse alternative tx...etc. After reading stories on here, I understand why . Some people won't work with their docs.... They want what they want, period....

That's the key word... some. I've tried other tx's including epidurals. No one can be grouped into one category. Everyone's different, and I'd welcome anything that would give relief besides meds. As many have said, we were regulars with Walgreens too. I disagree with all people wanting what they want. It's needing what they need.

Try Sweetbay supermarket pharmacy.I never have trouble getting it there if they are out they will have it in 2 days max and also my doc was in orlando cause I used to work there and live in Tampa and never had any problems with that situation at all.

Try sweetbay supermarkets.I never had any trouble even when I worked inOrlando where my doc was and I filled in Tampa sweetbays.Get to konow your pharmasist there and you wont have any problem.If for some reason they are out they will order them for you and it will be there in 2 days.always try to keep e few spares if you have to wait.Good luck.Sweetbay in Riverview on highway 301.

@UFC...will do. I will have to try today though because tomorrow my insurance will change and I will no longer be able to fill there. Thanks for the help though!!! If I am successful, I will post here and let everyone know.

Just trying to help.I know it is tough.I have been on them for 13 years.Never had trouble getting them at Sweetbay but when I lost my Insurance I could not afford them Iwas on 80mg controlled release and 30mg for break through.and the prices were unreal so I had my doc switch me over to Morphine 100mg and 30mg for btp.Good luck out there but I think the people wanting oxycodone and just that I know it works great but Morphine works also you just have to get a higher strenght and maybe an extra one a day.I agree your going to have to work with your doc there is a lot of people selling their oxy and making alot of money,so who is to blame?

I am a 100% Service Connected Disabled Veteran and have been on Oxy Extended and Instant Release for years. I had never missed a Script being filled until TODAY.... I live in Hernando County and find out that the Pharmacies will no longer fill My Scripts because My Dr. has a Tampa Address I went to every Pharmacy I could find only to be told that Oxy is not being shipped.

Now, Withdrawl is doing it's dirty deed and I cannot see My Dr. until the 16th to have the Perscription re=wrote for something else. I am Angry at the Selfishness and FEAR which "FUEL" the DEA and other Government Agencies live under because They cannot come up with a METHOD by which these Meds can be HONESTLY dispensed. This is NOT My Fault.
Thanks for throwing those of Us Who are all in this same boat to the Wolves of Withdrawl.

Only an addict and not someone acctually in pain would say something so Ignorant, So because of my age I should not be in as much pain as anyone else I have metal in my hip rod in my leg, and could go on for days! How dare you judge me! What your an old hag so your back hurts from sitting at a desk for 20 years more then me or whatever! You feel sorry for my kids, first off, MY 15 YEAR OLD SON IS AN HONOR ROLE STUDENT, PLAYS FOOTBALL, AND WRESTLES, AND HAS NEVER ONCE BEEN IN TROUBLE IN OR OUT OF SCHOOL! @Mojav Jo...do you know if that's ONLY 15's or 30's as well? Spring Hill is an option, but quite a drive if I'm not pretty certain. Thanks for posting. I intend to do the same when and if I find any around.

Here's my thought for your situation...... ÂIf ur Dr is NOT is the same town as u live, u need to CHANGE ur Dr..... ÂPERIOD
OR.... You are NOT going to be able to fill ur meds.
I've have been on these meds for over 7 yrs, trying to function through daily life, as many of you, with way too many "medical issues" to even get into. ÂThe FIRST time I ever Âhad a problem filling my scripts, was last year, (when my Pharm, that was faithfully filling for me, informed me that my Dr was "red-flagged" in their system because she did NOT "accept" INS. ÂAt that point I had just previously moved, but was returning to that town for Dr and Pharm, (easier at the time). ÂThen I found a new Dr and Pharm in my new town. ÂNo problem for first 3-4 mths. ÂThen, the s*** hit the fan as it did for everyone apparently. Â After MUCH aggregation, and countless times driving miles and spendings hrs doing the "Pharmacy Crawl" (like many of you), and made to feel "dirty" or being looked at like a "junkie" or something, ÂI've learned a few things.... Â
1) You MUST see a Dr that ACCEPTS INS. (Whether you have it or not.) ÂÂ
2) That Dr MUST be prescribing you a LONG-ACTING MEDICATION, to go along with your "Break-through" pain med (Oxy) Â Â
3) Rather than going from Pharm to Pharm searching for your meds, Âyou need to ONLY GO TO ONE, and the SAME ONE PHARMACY, (daily if need be, until theyÂ
have!!! Â
4) That Pharmacy MUST be WITHIN 5 milesÂ
of your home. Â* THAT IS THE KEY!! Â Â
5). BRING 6 mths of YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS WITH YOU). Â I know a lot of people think it's a "violation of their Privacy", BUT, if you ARE A LEGIT patient, Âand u do WANT your Pharm to work with you, then you need to work with them. ÂThey do NOT want to risk their license over someone who is not "considered" a legit patient. ÂNO; THEY ARE NOT Doctors, but why not provide them with paperwork if it makes your life easier....?! Â ÂI don't know.... ÂIt's either that I've beenÂ
"lucky" lately, getting my meds last 2 mths, OR it's because I've just complied with what I was requested Âto do. ÂIf there are people that have also followed the above, then maybe I have been "lucky"; ÂIf not, I truly suggest to try what I've mentioned.
I feel for you. ÂIf you are in the Ft Meyers area, maybe I could help recommend a Pharm nearby. ÂI live in Sarasota, but my mother lives there and have previously filled there when I visited. ÂAnyways, GOOD LUCK!! ÂI hope it all works out for you!
PLEASE ÂREMEMBER EVERYONE, NO ONE knows what someone else's "pain" is. ÂAfter yrs of procedures, with my Neurologist and Spine Surgeon working together, I was sent to Pain Mgmt. ÂWe are ALL just trying to continue to function as we know how. Â

I didn't ask about 30's, but I would assume that they should have some on hand, if the 15's were there. They did not have them yesterday, so I take it that a shipment came in since yesterday. My "Intuition" told Me to go check them out and it was right on the money!!!

Things are very screwed up currently and there will be no Sanity in sight... The FEDS are exercising their "Iron Will" with the Pharma Suppliers and Manufacturers telling them how many tablets they are permitted to dispense and where to do it. I hope all of them will incur musco-skeletal injuries and degenerative disease so that They will experience the insanity which We have to put up with... You know how it is: "You get what You Give". The Feds have thrown down s*** on the Sick and Disabled, so "What Goes around, Comes back around".

By The Way; why not share Our Experiences with which Pharm's have whatever meds sin stocck to help Others to procure their Meds a bit easier than Them having to waste time and gasoline tooling around in search of Meds.

A Word to the Wise; get Familiar/Friendly with the Cheif Pharmasist and ask Them to order Your Meds before hand so that Your Meds will be on hand when Your Perscriptions are ready! It helps to let them know of Your Patronage through the years as They have everything in the Computer to verify what You say.. Long Term Patients do receive preferencial treatment "IF" You play Your cards right. That and a "complement" goes a long way as well.

In theory, it's good advice. However, being a loyal customer of Walgreens for 2 yrs, didn't get alot of us anywhere. Now, even with a computer printout from them doesn't mean anything to another pharmacy. I went to so many other Walgreens, and they told me to go back to the original one I used in those 2 years. I've heard from other Walgreens so many times, were not taking new customers. I didn't think I was a new customer when I'm in their computer system. It goes to show loyalty means nothing to them.

999, I WISH YOU WERE RIGHT,BUT YOUR NOT COMPLETELY.YOUR DOC CAN BE A TOWN UP THE ROAD, JUST NOT 45 MIN. UP THE ROAD....IF YOU LIVE IN TAMPA, ST. PETE IS OK JUST ONE TOWN OVER. AND YOUR PHARM ,IF WALGREENS WILL NOT FILL IT IF THEY ARENT COMFY WITH YOU IF YOUR HOME IS CLOSE OR NOT THEY DONT CARE. AS LONG AS SAME AREA LIKE YOUR DOC.I HAVE BEEN DOING VIDEO,AND VOICE RECORDING ALL TIMES AT ALL WALGREENS FOR FUTURE LITIGATIONS THAT I CANT WAIT TO HAPPEN! @disabled999, I totally agree and as you know is quite hard switching doctors, right now specially when they see what you are on or have been taking! Plus it stinks cause this doctor and his staff are really great people, and they know all my problems cause my Doctor did 4 out of 6 of the surgeries! I have never disrespected nobody on this forum and I opologize for letting someone like MISS KAREN let me sink to her level! So for those of you who read my long winded post sorry! ANd I apprecciate everyone who said something and everyone who shared so I know I am not the only 1 going through this and I know I am not the youngest at 36 on here with same problems, but I am a horrible man according to MISS KAREN, cause I cant find the same medication she is looking for so I am in pain or tired when it takes 3 weeks to find it! That is like throwing stones in a glass house!

@Disabled999, sorry I got off track yes I would love if you could tell me where I might find them, I have tried everywhere! Since you know this area my problem is cause I was using Brooks Pharmacy which was on ground floor of a hospital near Estero but I guess they were doing some shady stuff and were shut down! And mos places now say sorry they can only take theyre regulars, because my Dr. has a good name in these counties! So then I was using Walgreens mail service and then we all know what happened there! So thats why am in this boat! So if you want to send me some names of place I would appreciate it! my addy is xxxxxxx xxxx [1] dont think your supposed to give out thats why I wrote it funny hope it gets through!
