2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 10)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your prayers. I have thought about going to my Walgreens and ask them but I bet they won't tell me a thing. They are good to me and treat me as a person not a druggie. I can get a referral from my docs up here. I tried the Opana and it did the same thing to me. it made me so sick. I have tried the fentynel patches too they make me sick. My body is so funny i can't hardly take anything that doesn't make me sick. My blood presssure pills made me sick, I tried 3 kinds of them. If I get down there they won't fill my script there is not much I can take. It is time for all of you to get up and fight back. even an animal suffering gets to be put out of their pain. and if not it is abuse and its on the news. Instead of writting in this blog write every paper, news channels, congressman, state reps. Anyone that would listen. if you don't they will just keep going on this way. Ban together fight it is your rights. No one should have to suffer. in my prayers God bless

I don't know what part of Tampa yet. He is staying with some friends until he gets him a place. How can you tell the real ones from those pill pusher mills. I want a Doctor that I know will take care of my condition. I have enough metal in my spine now I dont want some quack tallking me into some more. They are wanting to do surgery on my lower lumbar now but I won't give in. Now that the boys are moving I know I cant. There will be no one for me afterwards. Now with this going on down there I just don't know what to do. I have told them about this blog and they just say I am blowing this thing up. It couldn't be that bad. I wish they would take the time to look at it.. You know up here we have no pill mills we have Doctors and most are good. Everyone gets their meds. every month. Some have cut back but most are getting what they always get. If you know of any good Docs please let me know. and thank you for answering my blog and I will pray for you all and God bless

good morning,

so I decide to launch a complaint against a couple Walgreens pharmacyS .... I am told by the 800 Walgreens that in Florida the DEA has got involved and told pharmacist especially in Walgreens not to stock or fill c2 meds and they are putting their license on the line if they do..... the 1 800 Walgreens admitted that the pharmacist are lying to customers to gently break it to them did they do not want to feel medications for them I'm sorry but this is totally appalling to me.

someone please answer my question, can we as legitimate pain patient not do anything about this ....
I am sure the Attorney General of Florida Pam Bondi her father recently passed away god bless his soul did not have a problem getting his pain medication.

@need advice, so sorry you're so upset. It's so wrong. This state with Drs over prescribing, and pill seekers. The stated implemented a site where dr and pharmacist can check to make sure ppl.aren't dr shopping. It's never enough it seems. I have found a small pharmacys who's been filling my opana for 5 months now. The thing I was upset about was when I was told to not bring oxycodone or hydromorpbone prescription, they won't fill those. Still haven't figured out if it's bc they're the most widely abused or the fact that the opana is 4 times the price of the roxycodone. I just got done vomiting again, bc the opana makes me nauseous. My Dr will write the rx for roxycodone, but I know I won't be able to fill them. After 2 years with Walgreens, they throw the rx for roxycodone in my face last may and tell me " good luck with that?" It's a basic human right to be able to have some pain control. It's a disgrace, but I'll bet the dealers can still get them. I hope ypu cam get referral and come and be with your family. I pray for you, and wish you the best. Take care and maybe you can talk to the Walgreens there in KY and they can advice you. I don't know, I was a Walgreens customer for 20+ yrs, and after how they treated me, I wouldn't use them if they were the last pharmacy on earth. God bless and take care.

@needadvise...what part of FL were you thinking of moving to? There are some legit Drs down here where U can still gets meds from. I have been in Pain Mgt for about 10yrs now. I was really scared to move here 3yrs ago from NY. It is in No way the same quality of care..BUT...I feel I have absorbed all other options other than surgery already with all the injections and everything else. I too need my meds to get out of bed...am Always extremly tired..but..its life!

I would like to thank you for answering my blog. I like you have done everything by the book. Things are changeing in KY to. My pain doc i was with for 12 yrs. he up and moves to IND. he had an office there and closed the one in KY. I had heard in FL you could get anything. That all the druggies were going down there and getting a boat load. I will be all alone in KY when my boys move, I have no other family. I am kinda scared growing old alone. I don't know what to do. Like you I have to have my meds to even get up. They are wanting to do surgery on me on my lower back but I told them as long as I can walk no way. But, now that is getting harder. I do get my meds filled every month with no problems at all. I don't know what to do. I cant tell the good pain docs from the pill mill ones when I look for one down there. After reading these blogs all I have done is cry. I don't think my doc will go for me flying home every month. I feel so sorry for you all down there. And now I can't be with my family because of this. Again thank you and my God be with you all. I will keep u in my prayers.

us taxpayers need to do something, today I took my methadone prescription for 180 ummm, we don't have that in stock.... but they fill a prescription for another lady after me. I'm not some junky bum I'm a retired school teacher. I had a prescription for oxy as well
for only 120 tabletS I am doing everything by the book this is just getting preposterous.... when will it end when I'm dead? I don't call myself in attic.... but I am physically dependent on this medication opioid dependency is a disease just like diabetes.... my bring no longer makes endorphins, I don't know and I'm lost for words

@ needadvice, I'd be very skeptical about moving here to Fl. I'm someone with good insurance, same pain mgt Dr for over 2 yrs, and was with Walgreens until last may. Have done everything by the book, and haven't been able to fill roxycodone since last may. Im now on opana. The all pharmacy I use told me no roxycodone prescriptions , won't fill it. Pain mgt even took pic to put in chart. I have a family member up north in chronic pain and they too are now getting the " I'm not comfortable filling this" line of garbage. The state of Florida has implemented new rules, and yet they are still putting legit cpp in agony. Please, fo your research. My life has changed drastically bc I can't fill the one med that gave me a good quality of life. I'm now a walking zombie bc of this nightmare. Good luck and God bless

I found this blog trying to find a cerified pain management physician .My son has taken a job with the Hillsborough County. One he is so proud of getting. My other son is moving to Tampa with his brother when he completes a grant job through the University of KY, he is a wildlife biologist. I have been with a pain management doctor, that is claimed to be the best in the state of KY by my and other neurosurgeions, for 12 years. I have had Anterior fusion and a posterior fusion with grafts at C5 - C7. I also have DDD in C2 - C5 flattening the thecal sac. also canal stenois C7 - T1, L2 - L3, L4 - L5, all with disc bulges and or protrusions. I also have herniated lumbosacral disc, cervical facet diseasse, myofascial pain, facet disease cervial. They are wanting me to move down when my older son comes if not sooner. I have been on Oxycotin 20mg, and Oxycodone 30mg for break through pain for several years. I also have trigger point injections. I have has so many epidurals they don't last 2 weeks so my doctor discontinued them. Will I be able to find a Doctor, and I have always gotten my meds at Walgreens. I have been reading these blogs for days and to tell you the truth they are scaring me badly. So If I move down there I will not find a doctor or be able to get my meds filled. I am disabled and have insurance. Someone plz tell me this will not happen I want to beable to live with my sons.

there is no shortage. I am friends with a mom/pop ownerin florida. theres plenty and if you get on pharmacy list of approved patients and they will take you, your good. if the pharmacy dont wanna take you they wont.
They have the meds or order them but they have to file paperwork now and its a pain in there ass and there lazy and so nothing gets done to help new patients. They dont care and dont have to fill the paperwork out.
It all depends on the day the pharmaicist is having. If he/she got lucky the night before he/she may be in a good mood and help you or tell you tokik rocks. it sux but reality

Does anyone know anything about the pain clinic in Pinellas Park? I just moved back to Fla and transfered my records there. I paid my 300.00 which would not take my debit card and made me get cash. I waited for hours before they called me back..took my vitals and then told me to come back in two weeks due to I had pills left from my ga Dr. I hope not to go back and get turned away again. They had tons of people coming and going. Second question..it looks like oxycodone 30 is out of question even if he would prescribe due to shortage? Any help is appreciated!

Learned something new about Walgreen's... my insurance WILL PAY for medication from a CASH doc... but it is Walgreen's POLICY not to do so.

The logic escapes me???

I spoke to the local District Mgr. and he said that Walgreen's is losing a lot of business because of their new policies.

Again I encourage you to call and write Walgreen's corp. office about our concern's... Or maybe we should band together and all boycott them. As soon as I can find another Pharmacy to take my pain scripts I am transferring all my other meds to them. I know it isn't much to them, but I spend over $3000 a year on medications for my various illnesses. I am sure another pharmacy would love to have this account.

Sounds Like someone had their feelings hurt! Well, I guess when you speak the truth--law makers, lawyers, etc are all in "it" together someone is going to get their knickers in a knot! I stand by the reality that DEA was going to
"accept" whatever BS proposal was thrown together by Walgreens corp attys & DEA consultants! But maybe some naive relative of a agency "type" doesn't know the reality of the "system" yet & so is high & mighty--or maybe they are just high b/c a blanket comment of ignorance is closer to stupidity than lack of information/knowledge. Keep the flaming bs out of legit posts please!

You junkies should get your heroin off the streets like junkies have always done. Quit wasting the time and resources of the health system. Quit blaming pharmacies and pharmacists (who generally have much more ethics than your dealer/doctor) because you can't get your fix. Look at yourselves in the mirror. That is the only person whom you should blame.

It is easy for me to write a book b/c i was a writer in a previous life in the legal field. So for you to apoligize,k you are a good man. Florida is the most corrupt,prosecutorial, and litigious state. People are in prison b/c Self righteous (notice a trend in the people that i wish karma on) people can't admit they are wrong--judges, attys, law enforcement will sit on exonerating/exculpatory evidence & info rather than admit fault. And even then the appellate judges like at the 4th DCA uset hat lovely little case law which created the harmless error laws otherwise known as "oops, sure we are wrong (only after appeal after appeal filed & made public by a whistle blower) oops, are bad, sure we were wrong, but it harmless the person would have been busted/convicted anyway! there is never any justice.
Beaux, of course I have filed wi3th doh & walgreen w/ walgreens I initiated the complaint under Joe Doe & asked for a file number BECAUSE I DO NOT RESPECT OR TRUST WALGREENS TO NOT add a do not fill permaneantly to my file.
THERE ARE NO NEW RULES Pharmacists have ALWAYS been allowed to refuse.
What is new is that in response to DEA ACTION FOR DIVERSION AT CORP/WARH. LEVEL OF MILLIONS OF PILLS Walgreens had to create a proposal of Bs (like a kid turning in a term paper) whatever BS was going to be accepted by the DEA so Walgreens drafts their proposal of bs bullet points of how they will prevent diversion BUT THEY ARE TAKING IT OUT ON PATIENTS.
I agree that Publix is nce, Walmart just doens't care, & M and pops are overburdedn. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND why People with Health insurnace don't freaking use their Mail order adding to their probs & mine.
Walgreens drafted a good faith in dispensing Bs guidlelines for their DEA proposed offer to maintain prescribing any c2s, some stores suspended etc. BUT BY LAW THEY ALWAYS HAVE HAD TO PRACTICE GOOD FAITH AND ALSO BY LW, No pharmacist can Lose their license/subject to criminal bs If using good faith (legal term, not the nice guy term nonlawyers think) good faith=no criminal intent, neglience maybe, WALGREENS WANTS TO MAKE YOU COME IN & THEN ANNOUNCE TO THE STORE YOU are somehow part of the prob RATHER THAN SAYING sorry DEA busted us, millions of pills were gone & the only people that had the keys to the kingdom were us, the Walgreens pharms & walrg. decision makers.
When peo9ple post talkng about pill mills in Florida now or other media propaganda, it is just that that is NOT a prob in Florida anymore. I know that Walgreens is truly the prob and creating a probl by failure to live up to what lay peo9ple consider good faith ie doing the right thing, just like having to post a business license with any c2 they are making the pharm read the legally termed "
good faith" in prescribing so that they are in DEA compliance not with prescribing BUT FOLLOWING THE PROPOSAL OF REEDCUATION WALGREENS CORP presented to DEA to maintian licenses.
My mom used to say , i don't care what rules we play by as long as we all play by the same ones" that is why i started recoridng and complaining.
Walgreens breaks hippa, doh licensing guidlelines, patinet rights yoou name it, but who and with what money is going to fight them? the law is only about $$$. As far as drug abusers, the media may say someone died of an overdose or by oxy but they Fail (fueling raitngs, commercial spots $$ etc) to tell people the route of adminstration or the quantity, people would think differntly if it was yeah the person injected 10 pills or smoked them or whatever. At what point does household cleaner stop being house hold cleaner or whatver the new chemical drugs are when people modify or misuse them. It is no one's right to tell me to take a long acting. li have one, it dooes not hold pain the 80mg oxy were the Same for me as the 20mgs--they kept me from waking up in the middle of the night from pain and kept me m obile to get out of bed but I reduced everytjing to bare minimum and got rid of extra meds that were just an effort to prevent upgrading to roxy, i ditched allo muscle relaxants & liver taxing tylenol products and found a perfect functioning and medication and fiancial balance only to have thsi filling BS kick in. it is only bs, there have been no licensing or state requirement changes. I beg people with ins, use mail order, hell if i still had insuramci would totally use mail order. Not only has nothng changed legally except walgr3eens DEA bus, but no pil mills, all remaining doc always were and aree strict, and state tracking/national database plus random test and pill counts so like I really need some out of school ahole kid god telling me that I and my famiy dont' n eed to function and of course al the things that go with functioning--ediucating kids (can't sit without mad pain) paying mortgage, attending sschool conferencng etc etc. It is ALL BS & again anyone on the board that say I have no prob, just wait, i thought the same when people started complanging last year but i was lucku wth a m & P then. Also, side note 100% Walgreens are simply aholes not coverig their asses with DEA but in response to DEA action of the past, nothing to do with patients, but a pharmacist who was a total ahole with Walrgreens is with a differnt chain now and a truly helpful guy. No more books from me. But we ca't stop complaining just bc we get our meds filed, enemies always count on the victms going away from exhaution, depression etc. Oh and anyone that say go on sub was either overmedicated suffering from refractory pain or striaghtup lying. I am on least effective dose (just barely effective) but sub is only an option for addicts without pain. Sub is the newest $$$making endeavor these days and has no effect on pain. Good luck everyone.
