15mg Of Adderall Xr = How Much Vyvanse?
UpdatedI've been taking Adderall xr 15mg for three weeks. First couple of days I felt sleepy, groggy, third and fourth days i felt a surge of physical well-being, as well as focused , and a balanced state of mind. However, all that lasted another couple of days. After the first week of Adderall xr 15mg, i felt nothing. It's been three weeks now, and I still feel nothing.
I am going to ask my doc to switch to Vyvanse. However, i know that 10mg of Axr is = to 30mg of Vyvanse. But if i'm taking 15 mg of Axr, how much Vyvanse should I take to equal the Axr dose?
But, aside from that, do you all think I should stay on the Axr a bit longer? give it a little more time to work? i've read that sometimes it takes over a month to kick in.
thanks!

I am on vyvanse and wanting to switch to addy because it also wore off at highest dose.adderall has been proven to be stronger.u are at a low dose so i would increase it and stay with it!
Yes, it can take over a month for these medications to take their full effect. You will need to discuss this with your doctor to see if he advises switching or staying with it for a longer period of time.
Adderall is a psychostimulant containing mixed amphetamine salts, it is commonly used to treat ADHD and narcolepsy.
Common side effects may include: nausea, insomnia and loss of appetite.

Lisdexamfetamine is an analogue of the more commonly seen DEXAMFETAMINE SULPHATE tablets, formerly sold under brand name DEXEDRINE. Adderall and Vyvanse are both (correct me if I am wrong Verwon!) extended release preparations although I do know that there is a low strength IR Adderall - which is 75% dexamfetamine sulphate! the rest being made up of benzfetamine and amfetamine sulphate.
The XR Adderall can indeed take a few weeks for the patient to feel the full benefit. The problem with all amfetamines and their isomers and analogues is that without exception, they will start to lose their effect after a certain period of time. It may be prudent to take one week of every month taking an alternative such as phentermine (Duromine, Adipex). Sibutramine, another amfetamine analogue, was available under the brand REDUCTIL until a report which suggested its immediate withdrawal due to a clinically extremely high incidence of sudden and unexpected myocardial infarction even in otherwise totally healthy patients. Any side effect which has an incidence of more than one on one thousand is classified as extremely high risk. Doesn't sound much but that really is an awful lot, especially as heart attack is often fatal. (One reason you are less likely to survive one in the USA is that the first line treatment for the indescribable pain of MI is morphine sulphate IV. Unlike diamorphine HCl IV, which is first choice here in the UK but not prescribed at all in the US, morphine interferes with the electrical workings of the heart, which it's acetylated brother does not.) Anyway, I know somebody who takes phentermine one week every month and dexamfetamine sulphate IR 15mg tds the other three weeks, and the break brings that tolerance back - it only takes four days for an habituation to an amfetamine to disappear, and phentermine is different enough chemically not to interfere with that.
I actually thought that lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse) was stronger than the one third of the mixed salts referred to. I guess that like most CNS drugs, the range of dosages varies quite widely from patient to patient - my hydromorphone dosage as rescue med from the far-too-short acting OxyContin is between 10 and 16mg prn; a little research on the net told me that the actual range for that drug is between 8 and 24mg, quite a difference. So your metabolism must have a huge effect in your reaction to these CNS Stimulants.
