Zoloft Side Effects

Hey everyone. I just started zoloft today and I have been having really bad side effects the past few hrs. Increased anxiety, sweating, nausea, i just feel awful. Is this normal? ## @jc1825, Sorry to hear about the symptoms you're having as of late. Though, looking at the drug monograph for Zoloft (sertraline) it appears that all of those are listed as possible side effects on the web page for the US National Library of Medicine at: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0045066/#DDIC601237.side_effects_section If any of them have become too bothersome or severe, I would definitely encourage you to contact your doctor as soon as possible just to be on the safe side. Sometimes if certain side effects are left untreated they can gradually manifest into worser symptoms, so it's almost im...

I had been taking Zoloft for about a year along with Xanax(for about 2 months) and it didn't help me a lot, but i felt that i couldn't control my appetite anymore when i stopped this treatment, though i didn't gain or lost weight during the treatment, but i noticed that when i was decreasing the dosage i lost 6 lbs. ## Zoloft is being recalled by the FDA for being a critical health hazard for woman and their babies, I just can't believe how many women are putting their lives at risk.

What kind of side effects does Zoloft have? ## Many, but the most common are: being less sexually active, restlessness, tiredness (especially when you first start taking it), headaches, and possible mood swings (especially if the drug isn't right for you). As being a Zoloft user myself, I can say I've only experienced sexual side effects (and I'm only 24!) and the headaches, but the headaches were from when I stopped taking it on a regular basis. Oh, and it comes packed w/ some pretty bad withdrawls if not weaned from it properly. ## Hello there Sara. I did not like Zoloft at all. I felt like a zombie. My reactions were extremely slow. I was shakey and felt clamy all over..Not very talkative. I felt like I was trapped inside my own body for a FULL 24 hours. Mind you .. I onl...

Zoloft Sertraline

Sertraline, sold under the brand name Zoloft among others, is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class.[9] The efficacy of sertraline for depression is similar to that of other antidepressants, and the differences are mostly confined to side effects. Sertraline is better tolerated than the older tricyclic antidepressants, and it may work better than fluoxetine for some subtypes of depression. Sertraline is effective for panic disorder, socia...

My mom is 80 years old recently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. She has been taking zaldiar for pain killer and Zoloft for depression. I noticed some strange involuntary muscular behaviors ,eye twitching and leg movement. Also noted hallucinations. can this be a side effect of these meds?

I am 57 years old and about a year ago began taking lorzapam for anxiety (additional stress with work situation - layoffs and bankruptcy of the co). I learned that lorazapam was addictive, so I talked to my dr about changing to a different med. She receommended zoloft, but I didn't feel as tho I felt the way I should, so now I'm taking Celexa. I'm feeling better after taking it for the last couple of months, although I really dislike the dry mouth and weight gain. I used to walk 3 miles a day 5-6 days per week and lost about 12 lbs. After changing from the lorzepam to zoloft and now to celexa, I have gained about 8 lbs. back. I lost the initiative to talk my walks. I also feel that I crave foods high in carbs (never even had cravings during pregancy). Do others of you face t...

My depression symptoms were anxiety and depression stemming from lack of self-esteem and felling helpless/hopeless after being in a bad work environment with my boss and after losing some work and property that I created in a hurricane. I had feelings of grief and depression and in lack of motivation. I had PTSD, with anxiety but I also just felt completely demotivated. I had difficulty concentrating. I would feel overwhelmed and also de-motivated. I would be agitated and on-edge while at the same time I just wanted to retreat and stop trying to fix my situation. In 2013, I decide to mood stabilizing medicine. My doctor started me on Zolft. I took it for six weeks or seven weeks. However, on the Zoloft I felt dull and I had a lack of libido. Then, I switched to Viibryd. Viibryd is worki...

I was taking 100 MG of Prestiq, 300 MG of Seroquel, and 150 MG of Wellbutrin. I slowly whinned myself off of everything, but the Prestiq. I lowered my dose from 100 to 50 mg's, and stayed on that for 2 weeks. I quit taking the 50 mg's of Prestiq on Sunday. I am having withdrawl side effects. The side effects include extreme nausea, headache, throbbing in my head and ears, dizziness, vomiting, irratability, and I snap at the least littlest thing. I feel like I have no control over my emotions. Has anyone went through this before? How long will the side effects last? ## I didn't do it with Pristiq, but yes, I did stop taking 100mgs of Zoloft, cold turkey. Pristiq is an SSNRI antidepressant, since this affects the chemical balance in your brain, it can be as hard to get off of ...

Two weeks ago my doctor increased my Zoloft dosage from 25 mg to 50 mg and I've had debilitating anxiety for since day three of the increase. The anxiety has lessened a little in the last day but I'm wondering if this is a side effect that's not going to go away. I'm quite scared. ## That can be a normal side effect, as reported by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and weight changes. Side effects usually tend to be transient, as explained by the NIH, and they should go away, once your body gets used to the new dosage, but that may take 4 to 5 weeks. However, if its gets severe, or doesn't go away, you should consult your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello me to i know how bad it gets, the meds changed me to much and ...

My son has been diagnosed with ADHD and OCD. He tried Zoloft and it was like someone shot him full of speed. My doctor and I discussed the possiblity he could be bipolar. He first tried him on Abilify. After two pills, he went into a manic episode so we took him off the meds. We then tried Seroquell. He took half of a 25 mg pill within two hours he was so drowsy he could not keep his head up. The next day, he was very tired and complained of headaches. He developed diarrhea. We went to the movie theater and go very upset. He was scared of the movie and wanted to leave. He sat by a big man and it made him very nervous. We had to get up and leave because he was so upset. These are not normal behaviors for him. Can he get like this after one dose of Seroquell? ## Yes, while these are not c...

will it be ok for me to stop taking 50ml zoloft.i have only taken it for 3 days and cant stand the sweats. ## There shouldn't be a problem if you have only been taking it for 3 days. In order for it to cause issues when you stop taking it abruptly, you usually have to have been taking it for a long period of time. Learn more Zoloft details here. You may, however, still experience some mild withdrawal symptoms. Have you talked to your doctor about the sweating? ## I was perscribed zoloft a week ago.100 mg for 3 days then 100mg twice a day. This seems high. I dontlike side effects. Can I stop cold turkey

I am 46 and have been taking SSRIs for around 20 years. Tried at least 4-5 of them. I am so sick of all the side effects. You get rid of one aspect of a mental problem and find out the med causes a new problem of its own. I went on Effexor for awhile and didn't like it cognitively, so I am looking for something else. I guess the major things I'm looking to get away from are sexual side effects and weight gain and sleepiness. I tried Zoloft, and instantly couldn't climax. Got off it in 2 weeks. I saw Viibryd is one of the SSRIs with the least sexual side effects, so thought I'd go for it. I think it might be causing dry mouth. I just got a cold and it's been hell finding moisture to breathe. I woke up so dry and breathing through my mouth that I called an advice nurse...

Taking 5/325 hydrocodone & ancetamin for fractures in leg & arm. Even though this is small dose I am experiencing itchy face & some shallow breaths or longer time between breaths. I notice this at night . Only been on med for a week but read that these side affects are dangerous. Now afraid to continue pain control with these pills. I was wondering if this is because I take zoloft at nite with the pain med? The pain can get severe so dont know what to take anymore. ## Hello, Mickact! How are you doing? Has there been any change? I think it would be best to consult your doctor, because yes, those could be danger signs, and you might need to switch to a different medication. The FDA lists the typical opiate side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mo...

Been on 75 mgs of Zoloft for 3 weeks, I was tired a lot before taking it but now I'm even more tired. My question is would maybe jumping up to 150 help this? I was told the tiredness was likely from depression (had all blood tests run to see if it was anything else. Thanks ## Hello, Gary! How are you feeling? Tiredness and drowsiness are among the possible side effects of Zoloft, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. However, it should wear off and improve in severity, as your body gets used to the medication, so it may take 4 weeks, or so. Raising the dosage could actually just make it worse. These medications tend to cause REM Onset Latency which means your don't enter the REM phase of sleep as fast as usual and don...

My mother took Chantix several years ago in an effort to quit smoking. Well, she quit for a year. During that time, however, she became unbearably depressed. She has no history of depression. She consulted a doctor several times and tried 3 different prescriptions, 1 of them being Zoloft. She stopped because she said they made her feel like she was just in a constant haze. She hasn't been to a doctor or a psychologist since then. In the mean time, she started smoking again because she thought that it would make the depression go away. It didn't. Because of her experience with the 3 prescriptions, she is unwilling to go back to a doctor, and dismisses any notion of going to a psychologist. Our family has pleaded with her to keep trying, even if she has to tell whoever she sees th...

I think Zoloft is a junk pill & Xanax rules. What's your opinion on the two meds? ## I think that you're trying to compare two different medications that aren't comparable, at all. Xanax contains the active ingredient Alprazolam, it is a benzodiazepine that's most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. It has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness headache and irritability. Learn more Xanax details here. It is something that can have have an immediate effect, so it can be taken as needed, rather than on a regular basis. Zoloft, however, is an SSRI antidepressant, these can help with conditions such as depression, anxiety, and OCD, but they do not have the immediate effect that a benzodiazepine does, th...

I want to know the Brand Names for Fludac 20 mg, Side Effects and Drug Interactions with other psychotropic medications including Prozac, Sertraline 50 mg (Brand Name Zoloft), Bupropion SR 150 mg (Brand Name Wellbutrin), Clonazepam 1 mg (Brand Name Klonipin), and Seroquel 300 mg. ## Fludac is one of the brand names, the active ingredient/generic is actually Fluoxetine. As to the other ones that may be available, it depends on what country you are in, but what you would want to look for or ask your doctor and pharmacist about are other medications that contain Fluoxetine. As to the Prozac, it is also actually Fluoxetine, so you wouldn't be able to use them both. If you use it with the Bupropion, the dosage has to be carefully adjusted, because it can increase the risk of seizures. Th...

I have been taking zoloft 50 mg for 6 years now. I felt my anxiety coming back a little stronger so my doctor up my dose 25 mg. so I have been taking a total of 75 mg for 2 months. I have been having bad problems with dizziness and lightheadness. I thought that the side affects would diminish but they are strong as ever. Is this normal to have these side after 2 months? ## No, that's not normal. Most side effects usually last about 4 to 6 weeks, then taper off in severity, once your body had gotten used to the medication or dosage increase. Are you on any other medications? Has anything else changed in your diet or daily routine recently? ## I'm on Diovan for blood pressure which I've been taking for 10 years. I have noticed that even taking Zoloft my anxiety is still always...

I am on 50mg of Zoloft to help treat night eating disorder. I am very sensitive to meds - so expected some effects - but: - teeth grinding - elevates heart rate - shortness of breath I have started on Zoloft for the same issue before but stopped after a week or 2 because of the above. QUESTION: is anyone's experience similar and do those things "smooth out" as body adjusts (and about how long does that take?) Hoping to power through for a few weeks more this time to see of there's light at the end of the tunnel. ## Hello, Alex! How are you? Side effects are usually transient, so they'll taper off in severity and eventually go away entirely, once your body gets used to the medication. However, that could take 4 to 6 weeks. Unless they are so severe that you can't ...

Hi, I've been on zoloft 150 mg for a year and a half and it has been a blessing and allowed me to function again and be normal from my anxiety. I got a 4.0 gpa after barely being able to even attend class, however a month ago I got in a bad car crash I rear ended someone going 60 mph because everyone stopped and I dozed for a second- ever since the crash my anxiety has been horrible and back to how I was before zoloft- is it possible the Zoloft stopped working, any suggestions/thoughts would be helpful ## Also wanted to note besides some whiplash I was fine didn't want to get medical help because of $$ ## Do you have any idea why you dozed off while driving? According to NIH studies Zoloft can cause drowsiness, and dizziness as side effects... and 150mgs if a pretty high dosage....
