For back pain, how often is it safe to use the 8mg. methylprednisolone dose pack? I am 65 y/o female in fairly good health except for spinal stenosis, chronic bronchitis and mild hypertension. I had a 2 epidurals 2 months ago and not time to have it repeated for 3 more months. ## You should only take it as directed by your doctor, it can be repeated, if they approve of your doing so, but you should always be careful to check with them. The FDA lists its typical side effect as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain, fluid retention and elevated blood pressure. Are you on any other medications?

You can experience withdrawal symptoms if you don't, such as headache, diarrhea and muscle cramping. However, it could also involve your adrenal gland and become much more serious. I took a medrol dose pack last week and finished it Wednesday December 28th. On day 5 of the pack I began to experience numbness in hands and fingers and pain in my arms and elbows. I have an intense backache and my trunk is tender to the touch. I'm also retaining water in my abdomen. My prescribing doctor and pharmacist never heard of these side effects even though they are listed on the package insert. I'm concerned if this is permanent and don't know who to ask since the health care professionals I spoke to never heard of these side effects. I went to the doctor for a cold sore outbreak and was prescribed this 6 day steroid dose pack... This was at the first of the month... How long does the side effects last? ## You shouldn't take steroids for cold sores, it can actually make them worse, because they wake up the virus that causes them. As to the side effects, which the FDA lists as possibly also including nausea, acne, headache, insomnia and fluid retention, they shouldn't last more than a week, or so, after you fishing your course of treatment. I was given the 4mg 5 day dose pack of methylprednisolone for an allergic reaction that caused swelling of my lips and front part of my jaw. I've taken a methylprednisolone dose pack early October, and I am still experiencing typical withdrawel symptoms, 2 1/2 months later.. low blood pressure, nausea, dizziness, muscle pain, heart palps, alergies, etc. I reacted very badly while taking it, having to stop it the fifth day. I was given a dose pack to determine if a condition I have is inflammatory arthritis or not. By day three of the mess, I was feeling better than I had in months! Ive been on sprintec fo march april. I have not missed a dose and I have taken them on time. ## These oral contraceptives definitely effect everyone differently, but I am curious to know if sprintec has been working well for you? I was just on another thread here and noticed a lady who was taking sprintec, but was very concerned because she had missed her period by a few days or longer. Same thing happened to my gf while she was on it, although I'm fairly certain that she missed a few days of taking it.

I ended up at the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. So I didn't take the last two pills. It has now been a full week after my last dose, and I am still struggling with insomnia, nausea, dizziness, muscle weakness, loss of appetite, heart pounding and high bp. I feel better in the evenings, but then it starts over in the mornings. Does anyone know how much longer these side effects will last? In July, I had a severe allergic reaction to fiber glass contact and nothing worked until my doctor gave me the dose pack of medrol. I've started the HP Pack but I took the first sachet over 3 days instead of taking it all the first day and then moved to the next sachet. After 3 days I realized the mistake. Now I am having abdominal pain & not sure what to do & the impact. It has been a terrible 4 weeks after taking the dose pack, and I am slowly getting back to my normal self (not there yet). I have now developed in tolerances to certain foods... itchy mouth, throat, etc. I now carry benedryl with me at all times, and have been prescribed an EpiPen.
