My childs father is trying to make me taper off xanax and he has kno idea what hes doin. Ive ben pdescribed for severe anxiety. I already had one siezure wen i tried to do if myself. I am wanting to taper off safely from using 6mg of xanax bars a day. I am addicted and went through the worse withdrawals when I couldn't find my last 9 left in my bottle as well as my bottle missing. XANAX - ALPRAZOLAM Is it safe to take a prescribed low dose like 0.5 3x day long term? Is it low enough to not make a withdrawl problem if I stop it suddenly? I am try ing to get off suboxoneand xanax. I am taking about 1/8 of a 2mg suboxane 2 x a day and down to 1 .5mg xanax a day. I am getting blurred vision, confusion, anxiety, trouble sleeping. Tremors, When I take a little more suboxone, it goes away. are the ingedence in xanax and kolinpin the exect same or there diffrent indgedances whats xanax have that kolonpin dont ## One has Alprazolam and one has Clonazepam in it. Two different drugs in the same family that have similar properties ## Xanax is slightly structurally different than klonopin. The main factor being that xanax has a shorter half life than klonopin. The drug gets into your system effecting you quicker and more intensely but also leaves your system more quickily than klonopin which comes on slower lasts longer and leaves the body quicker therefore making it easier to taper off of if that time does come.

I feel led to share with you guys my nightmare journey with Xanax. I have been taking it for well over 15 years. Sometimes, I would take quite a bit during some very rough situations in my life. I tried to stop a year ago and ended up in the Emergency Room of our local hospital. I asked my doctor for help getting off this nightmare drug, but she just said "taper" off. I've been going to the hell clinic (methadone) for a lil over 5 yrs. I had 6 take homes for most of that time. I told them i wanted to go down 2 mgs a day. They said i wanted to go down too fast & I'd be "unstable" so they took away ALL my take homes. I told them to start taking me down 5 a day then instead of 2 mgs. I only have 2 more days to go. I don't want to start old pill habits, but will taking Lortabs or small amounts of Morphine help with the withdrawals? I'm taking xanax (prescribed) & lots of vitamins & vit c. & of course Immodium. This is not xanax, it is just a regular anti depressant which will not take care of your xanax withdrawal. And yes, the feelings you are having is detox ... it's the same way I feel when I don't have my xanax. The detox symptoms can last for months to years, if you don't believe me look it up. ## I didn't see anyone mention that this was supposed to be Xanax? You're right though, it's not. A pink oval pill marked with IP 53 is a 20mg Citalopram hydrobromide tablet - An antidepressant of the SSRI class. I am now into my 4th day off of suboxane. The side effects are getting better. I used .5mg xanax, sometimes I took up to four the first two days off of suboxane. By the end of this week, I feel I should be OK. I am Taking 3 , .5mg of xanax throughout the day and night at the moment. I want to begin to taper off xanax.. What can I expect for side effects from the w/drawl, how fast should I go so that I don't hurt myself. Somepeople seem to have no effects...I doubt I will be THAT lucky! Any suggestions? Has anyone heard of the Ashton Method as a way to detox off of benzodiazepenes? I know it is more popular in the UK. I’m trying to find a USA psychiatrist who follows this method. A lot of people have had success coming off without losing their minds in withdrawal. ## My dr. Did a similar approach. Switching me to Valium instead of Xanax and then we got 1mg, .5mg and .25mg compounded so I could make very small tapers. It was the only thing that worked for me after trying to come off on my own unsuccessfully. Dr. Royble at True Life Center in San Diego. There are also some groups that help you to micro taper on your own diluting the pills with liquid. ## I'm looking for one also.

Any mood altering meds should be tapered off slowly. Talk to your doctor to see how you should slowly adjust your dosage. Check your meds to see if they are benzodiazapines, like Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, Clonazapam etc (they have different names for the brand vs the generic, so check your meds to see what types they are.) They drugs can be addictive and do cause serious withdrawal symptoms. I had seizures when I quit Xanax cold turkey. I am now on Ativan, but a low dose that I only take when I REALLY need it to help with panic attacks and panic related sleeplessness. The more you take these meds, the less they work and the more problems they cause when you stop taking them. I'm trying to figure out how to quit methadone cold turkey...I was laid off and now can't afford the medication......what are my options....I live in mount airy nc ## Yes, it is "Safe" to take Xanax while attempting to quit Methadone which I'm not sure is safe to do without a doctors supervision. However the withdrawal from Xanax (and remember you would need money to pay for this new Xanax as well) rivals any drug you have ever abused. Benzo's are a wonder drug for cetain disorders--You can very easily get dependant and stopping abruptly can lead to seizures. Please see a physician who you trust if you think you are getting mentally dependent. You are already physically dependent. People- benzo's ( valium, librium ,xanax ,ativan, klonipin, etc) are not a good drug to get hooked on. ## I have been taking 6 mil of Klonopin for almost 6 years and I want to get off of it but I don't know how to wean myself off of it. I was wondering can i have a seizure if i only took 1mg xanax for just once a day for 2 weeks i dont really take them. I already had a seizure a while ago but I'm scared I'm going to have another one. And I don't want to take the xanax ever again ## Well you had one before so I would hope not. A seizure is always possible however looking at the amount you took and the duration, you shouldn't have problems, nor experience any of the extreme withdrawal symptoms you are reading about here. ## I'd suggest talking to your doctor first, for your own safety. Which one should I try to kick first? Also, how do I taper off 125 mg daily of methadone? Right now, I'm down to five 1mg xanax. ## It can really vary from person to person. The modern method to taper off of any medication is usually to have the person gradually lower their dose while skipping days, at the same time, so you lower it, while spacing your doses further and further apart. I have a current prescription of Xanax 2mg. 4x a day that runs out tomorrow need to find a new Dr. as mine is out sick indefinitely. Can somebody help me? I'm scared!!! ## 8 mg a day is a dose that is very high. You should have begun tapering or looking for a replacement doctor sooner if that was even possible. Help please! I am a 57 yr old Totally and Permanently USAF Vet. The VA Hosp I Want to do my Hip Replacement is the Wade Park VAMC in Cleve. My Medical Probs are severe and lengthy, but my only Psych need is for my increasingly-severe Panic Attacks, and my Anxiety Disorder, which had responded well to Xanax 1mg. However, in its ever-lasting quest to make a junkie of no one, The VA Dr here in SC recently tapered me off of my Xanax. In just over a month, I am moving back to the Warren-Y'town area (my locale for 40 yrs and then some) for a min of a year and a half to address the Phys. Stuff incl major Surgery.
