Betadine First Aid Cream Povidone-Iodine

Povidone-iodine (PVP-I), also known as iodopovidone, is an antiseptic used for skin disinfection before and after surgery.[1][2] It may be used both to disinfect the hands of healthcare providers and the skin of the person they are caring for.[2] It may also be used for minor wounds.[2] It may be applied to the skin as a liquid or a powder.[2] Side effects include skin irritation and sometimes swelling.[1&...

My daughter has been using this for 3 days now, I notice that the skin of the wound is cracking and peeling, it also turned dark, is it normal? by the way my daughter had been trying so many ointments prescribed by the doctors those were: flucotisone and antibiotic ## Hi Teresa, Based on my research, some side effects of Clotrim Beta Diprop Cream include: blistering, burning, itching, peeling, dryness, and redness. That means that this cream could be causing your daughter's skin to react. If it were me, I would discontinue the use of this product until you can meet with your physician. I haven't found any information stating that you shouldn't mix this cream with the other drug you mentioned, Flucotisone, however I'm not sure about the antibiotic you mentioned. Does it h...

Can I use Gelmicin on fresh road rash wounds? It contains a mixture of betametasona, clotrimazol, gentamicina. I fell off a motorcycle and have bad road rash. So a friend brought Gelmicin Cream from Mexico to put on it and I'm just wondering if it's safe.... ## Hi John, sorry to hear about your spill! The ingredients which you listed for Gelmicin are as follows: 1. Betamethasone, a steroid medication which can help to relieve skin irritation. 2. Clotrimazole, which is an antifungal medicine. 3. Gentamicin, an antibiotic for treating and/or preventing bacterial infections. Are you able to translate the instructions on the packaging? I'd just want to figure out how long it's supposed to be applied for since steroid creams aren't meant for long term use. Am I right in g...

debridement ointment ## I have a large wound on my left ankle. It started out as pressure ulcer and I was using hydrocortizone for the itching. I did not know that the cortizone would make my skin there very tender and at one point when I was washing a large patch of skin came off, so now I have a small patch of a wound. I am using Staphaseptic for the wound and a natural cream for the itching. It is healing slowly and there is some dead skin that needs to be removed. Is there an over the counter debraidment ointment to help get rid of the dead skin?? Thank, Bob ## I am 75 yrs old. I have Sakram troma. I have had 3 surgaries so far because of recurrence. I have used Santyl many times before for wound care. I have an unopened tube of Santyl 90 grams. It has been stored in my medicine cabinet since last year. Santyl is very expensive. I paid $450 for this at my pharmacy last year and that was a discounted price. It is normally $625. It has an expiration date for 11/2017. Can I still use this? I have also been told that many drugs can be used after they expire. ## Most typically don't become dangerous, once they are expired, but the problem with creams and ointments is that they tend to degrade faster than solid forms of medications, according to NIH reports. So, it may not work as well as it did when it was new but should not be "bad". The most common side effect that the FDA lists for it is reddening of the skin. Did you buy ...

Can i use quadriderm for my hypertrophic scar on my knee and wrist and black spots on my leg? ## Hi sandy, Quadriderm cream contains the following active ingredients per gram of ointment: Betamethasone valerate 610 mcg (equiv to betamethasone 500 mcg) + gentamicin sulfate (equiv to gentamicin 1 mg) + tolnaftate 10 mg + clioquinol 10 mg From what I could gather, it is a topical Anti-Infective/Anti-bacterial with Corticosteroids, used to treat a wide variety of skin disorders, including; eczemas & other allergic & inflammatory dermatoses where there is secondary bacterial &/or fungal infections. Hypertrophic scarring is considered to be heavy scarring that can appear around a piercing or other wound. It doesn't sound like something Quadriderm cream would necessarily treat,...

My neighbor was in a car accident and had many cuts and scabs on his face. He told me he was applying this to his skin so it can heal. In less than a week from the accident all his wounds were gone. I was wondering if you can use this for like acne scabs or acne cuts ? ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? This is an antibiotic ointment, that's used to treat or prevent infections. You really shouldn't use it, without your doctor's approval, because improper use may lead to your developing antibiotic resistance. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I fell and scrap my whole lower leg and my husband came with the cream to put on my cut. I was hesitant but I allowed him to apply I normally scare and take long time to heal but in one week my cut healed no joke it is amazing. I fou...

My dad had a brain infection in his temporal and parietal lobes. After trying to treat it with antibiotics, they finally performed surgery and removed the pus manually. About two months after he was released from the hospital, he began having extremely painful neuropathy in his fingers, legs and feet. His fingertips have been splitting, cracking and bleeding, and his legs and feet have had painful rashes and open wounds. He has tried steroid creams for his legs and feet, which help, but for his hands he has been given Gabapentin, Cymbalta and Lyrica, all which cause strange mental behavior...which I would liken to mildly psychotic. They seem to help his pain, but all make him have "the evil inside," which is what he calls it when he has episodic behavior due to these drugs. Can ...

I had a session with a sex worker. The room was air conditioned (around 20 C) and slightly dark. I had a shower in massage centre’s bathroom before beginning the massage. I have a tight foreskin (exposure of urethral meatus). She gave me a HJ without a condom, no sexual intercourse. I kissed her neck, cheeks and lips for several times. I sucked her breast (no wounds or cuts) smoothly, but nothing came into my mouth. I had a small ulcer inside my mouth. She put down her pants to show her butt. I noticed menstrual blood on her panties. She was in her menstrual period. I touched her butt. She applied a cream on my penis and all over the body. While performing the HJ, suddenly she went out from the room and came back after few minutes. I did not know the reason. I believed she went ou...
