What Is Strongest Pain Meds

My husband has an abcess under his knee and it was cut and packed. What kind of pain meds should i ask for to help his pain once he goes home ## Hello, Yuvette! How is your husband doing? I'm sorry about the problem he's had. However, it isn't wise to ask the doctor for any specific medication. That is often viewed as being drug seeking behavior and will make most doctor's reluctant to prescribe anything. If he needs a pain medication, he should speak to his doctor about what to do for that pain, without asking for any specific drug. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been taking the muscle relaxers flexeril 10mg 2x a day and or methocarbamol 750mg 3-4x a day. Neither of them work. What is the strongest relaxer I can ask my dr for. A new pain pill exstinded relief that starts with and a not avinsa ## Hi Eddie, What about the name Astramorph? It too is another brand of Morphine like Avinza. However, the difference is that Astramorph is an inj./epidural. And while I'm not sure how new it is or how long the relief lasts, inj's. are typically a lot stronger than oral pain meds due to increased bioavailability. Unfortunately I haven't heard of any other pain meds that start with an 'A', but if anything I hope this at least helps narrow down your search.

I will be having wisdom teeth pulled. I would like to know what options are availiable for non narcotic pain relief. Preferably the strongest. I will be able to get a prescription, but I would like to avoid opiates or opioids. ## Wow, that's kind of difficult, because knocking out the opiates leaves only options for minimal pain relief. In many cases, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory would be prescribed, such as just a strong dose of Ibuprofen, but that can depend on how complicated the extractions are and how much you're bleeding afterwards. I am in need of help AGAIN as my current pharmacy decided to stop filling one of my pain meds. I am in too much pain to go driving from pharmacy to pharmacy and I would like to know if someone can help me. I have seen with my own eyes people getting oxycontin filled, and then i am right behind the person in line, and am told that they do not have norco or ms contin..LOL give me a break, but they have the strongest med out there? I am sick over this still going on in florida. How come nobody has done anything about this yet? This cannot be legal to discriminate. I am not even on that high of a dose of the norco and the other med was ms contin 15 mg only twice a day! I had 2 back surgeries in the last 2 years and the 1st failed(lumbar fusion), pain only gets worse and my doctor does not prescribe anything stronger than 5mg Oxycodones 4x day, I explained that they don't get the job done but he insists that this is the strongest he can go!!! We found a bottle with two 15mg of oxycodone and two 80mg of oxycontin. Our friend had passed away and no one is sure why. Had back fusion surgery. Only 6 weeks of low dose norco. Ended up with nerve pain in my foot (zapping shocks that will take the strongest person down). Ortho doc said It would go away possibly in 6 weeks, maybe longer. Ortho surgeon they will never give anyone any opioids past 6 weeks no matter what. He tells me to go to pain management but he does not recommend or refer for any one of his patients to a pain management clinic. Says he does not want the responsibility of that. What is the difference between Norco, Percocet and Lortab? I have a script for all three. I have cancer and wondered which one is the strongest. I don't need all three pain meds if one is better than the other. Thank you. ## Hey CLM, the Norco and Lortab both contain the active ingredient hydrocodeine so basically the same medicine just different brand name. Unless they are a different dose 5/325 vs 10/325 then they are the exact same medication. Percocet contains oxycodone as the active narcotic and is stronger than the other two you mentioned. One may work better than the other for you personally but Percocet is the stronger of them. I will be switching from Ms Contin to Palladone this weekend. Has anyone tried it? What are the advantages? disadvantages? over the other long term Pain meds? ## Palladone is actually considered milder than the Morphine, and Oxycodone is the strongest narcotic. So I am not sure why you are switching or if it will help you more than the morphine. ## Well the morphine is givining me violent headaces as it did in another preperation I took years ago. I can't stand methadone, taking so many pills a day and my insurance doesnt cover oxyContin at all. So being that I have had had success with dilaulidid as a good breaktrhough med my doc felt we should try it carefully as a base med.

I saw a new PM doctor yesterday. He was extremely nice as far as his personality. But when it came to the medications, he just wouldn't listen. I have a very low tolerance for strong pain meds. The strongest I can go is a Lortab 10/500 (which I've been on since 2005 successfully). Anything above that makes me sick or euphoric along with other challenging side effects. The only side effect from the Lortab I dealt with was dry mouth. No biggy. This new doctor doesn't believe in the short acting medications as a primary source of pain relief. Even after I explained to him that ever since I was a pre-teen, the long acting medications make me sick. I have been on the butrans 20 mcg patch for 3 months and am getting ready to switch to the fentanyl 25 mcg patch. Will I get same amount of or better pain relief? So my theory is that it should provide a greater sense of pain relief.
