What Does The Score Line Mean On Pills

I got a pill from a friend who said it will calm me down..she said it was valium...but it looks differant...its light yelllow and round. There is a P on top and under the score line there is a 5 ## Since this is Canadian, I can't definitively confirm it, but this pill has come up several times and several Canadians have identified it as being a generic for Valium, with the % designating it as a 5mg tablet. In case you aren't familiar with Valium, here's a link to more Valium details . It does require a prescription and can be habit forming, so it shouldn't be used, without a doctor's approval. If a pill has a line through it, does it mean that if you split it you will consume half the dose? ## That is correct. Many different companies have lines (score marks) through the center of their pills so they can be cut in half if the full dose is too strong. Some patients may have to build up a tolerance to certain medications before they can handle the full dose.

I have a round blue pill with Q on it and a split/score line. I can't find anything anywhere about what it could be. Does anyone know what it is? I HAVE SOME BLUE TABLETS,MEANT TO BE DIAZEPAM. I Have been asking alot of people and looking on the internet and i still cant figure out what these pills are. They are little, round, and blue. Did you mean just the score line to divide the pill? The pills are round pale yellow color & are scored down the middle. No other markings. It is a small white round pill. One side blank and the other side has a line that is placed in the center not going all the way up and down it looks more like a capital I or lower case L. ## Hello, Lee! How are you? So, it only has the score mark and no other markings? If so, we can rule it out as being a U.S. prescription medication, since they are all required to have markings to enable their identification. Can I take half of one as I have never taken a painkiller before....I had a tooth pulled ## Hi Jorden, I haven't found any medication by the name of "Nophen"... Did you mean to say "Norco"? Norco is available in dosages of 5/325 (hydrodocone + acetaminophen) for moderate to severe pain relief. And to answer your question. This type of pill is ok to break in half, since it's not time-released. I believe there's also a score line dividing the pill for such purposes if I'm not mistaken? Hope this helps!

I have recently acquired a load of these blue pills, they were passed on as Valium apparently coming from Thailand. They are a light/bright blue with score line on the back and 10 on the other side, break up quite easily. They do not taste anything like Valium but instead have a strange bitter taste to them. I would like to know what these could possibly be? Round white pill with a 3 in the middle tabloid at the top and brand at the bottom ## Hi Roya, What exactly do you mean by a "tabloid at the top and brand at the bottom"? The definition of "tabloid" refers to journalism, which makes this even more confusing... Based on your description, the only remote match I've seen is an Acetaminophen (300mg) + Codeine phosphate (30mg) tablet. It's a white round pill with a large (centered) 3 on one side and the back has a score line with "2064" on top and "V" on the bottom. The V is indicative of a product by Vintage (Qualitest) pharmaceuticals. Is that what you mean by "brand at the bottom"? Please post back if have any more details to add.

My friend takes small white tablets, the size of a valium, with a 'D' on one side and just a '5' on the other. They are lined through the middle like valium too so they can be broken in half. I really need to know if I can cut in half the mallinckrodt 7.5 325 hydrocodin. I usually get the scored qualitest 7.5 325 I take one half 4 times aday, but, my pharmacist switched to the unscored tablet. ## Hi yvonne, Usually when there is a score line (divid) embedded into the tablet, it means the manufacturer purposely made it so patients could easily cut it in half. In situations like this, I believe the only verifiable way to know what you have for certain, is to have its contents analyzed by a lab. However, I did have a couple questions about the pill that may help point our search efforts in a more precise direction: - You had mentioned that it was "a little long". Does this mean that it's oblong/rectangular shaped or oval? - Is the score line vertical "|" or horizontal "---"? - Where was the pill found / how was it obtained? I had friends over the other night. I found a pil. Can you tell me what this pill is? ## Are there any other additional markings on it? I have been unable to find an identification for one with just those numbers, but there are some with additional numbers. Can you please double check the pill and post back? ## its a small pale green pill about 6mm or so dieamiter round with 1 of those lines used for halfing it marked on 1 side and the words sigma engraved in on other side there are no other marking (dont no if this helps) they were in a container with some other pills wich were orange clanazapams but (dont no if that means much) by the way i live in new zealand
